As for the question of the night... I think we found out who is smarter than a fifth grader. The people who chose to not watch that program. Which seems to not be enough people IMHO.
"5th Grader" is the first studio game show that I've not even bothered to record the premiere of in practically my entire TV-recording life. It looked THAT horrible.
We'll have to see how many people stick around on Thursdays to see what kind of life it has... I'm thinking not so much. Hoping, anyway.

We'll see if the high ratings continue tonight with its second half hour, and when it settles into Thursdays without Idol-lead-in. Though the FOX network is definitely doing a new/"better" thing by keeping the show after Idol on successive nights for so long. It'll get viewers used to watching it (rather than hoping viewers stick with a show after watching its one-time post-Idol airing).
I didn't watch Idol or Fifth grader last night. In fact, I rarely watch Idol. Just surprised at how many people hung around to watch that game show. The intelligence of America keeps going down literally. Just wondering how many Americans failed the game show. That must be embarrassing. And since I used to teach fourth grade (for 10 years--and never got promoted to the fifth grade--LOL!!!) I may not have passed it either--except I may have insider information.
It will get slammed on Thursday's without AI, but I should do better than what was there before. FOX just need to be competitive on Thursdays.

the mystery hit that will be cancelled is either Jericho, Close to Home or The Unit.. I read that on ask ausiello, I think Close to Home will get the ax

People kept it on because everything else was already half done. That is the only explanation I can think of. I checked it out for lack of anything better to watch and was amazed at how stupid the contestant was. I didn't even watch the whole thing.
Looks like 5th Grader benefitted greatly from being a 30 minute show. I can only assume that people started watching, and like that, it was already over.
The trick to the questions are that, for most people, it is information they have not had to use or even think about SINCE they were in 5th grade.
