If the Dragnet remake bombed (despite Eva Longoria in the cast), this doesn't stand a chance.
But Eva Longoria wasn't Eva Longoria then. She was almost a complete unknown to anyone outside of soap opera fans. Plus she didnt have nearly as glamorous look then as she does now. What I'm trying to say is the success or failure of that show would not fall in Eva's lap either way as a show from here on out would.

The problem with the last remake of Dragnet was that it did not stay true to the Dragnet style. It was just "another Cop Show" that had an established name attached to it. I would be that IF/when SoSF remake is made, it will do the same and only be a remake in title only. quote: Originally posted by Pats12Fan: quote: Originally posted by xwiseguyx: quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: Seriously, This seems too much like a straight forward police drama. Eva Longoria on dragnet was such a non-entity that even though I saw every episode of Dragnet (I am a HUGE fan of Ed O'Neil) I didn't even recognize her on DH!

The lines are a little blured, but it looks as if CBS Corp. now owns the Rights, at least TV rights, to the Star Trek Franchise. I would not be surprised that if the New Movie is a BIG hit next summer, that we could see a new Star Trek series by the Fall of 2010, on CBS. Thats about 6 years after the last series went dark on UPN.
Sci Fi and Network TV...for whatever reason they are just not compatible with a few very rare exceptions (HEROES)...I'm not sure if even STAR TREK could overcome that hurdle.

I'm sure many of you have this same DVR problem but why does CBS or whoever -- keep putting the adventures of christine on at 9:31 -- I end up missing like 30 seconds on my dvr everytime -- it happens with every show after 2 1/2 men. I've tried to manually change it, but the dvr "smartly" moves it back to 9:31 -- who can I complain to? Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

A lot of whose viewers? Certainly not CBS'. Most of them were having mid-life crises when "The Streets of San Francisco" originally ran.
-- I agree.

How is that nice? It will only encourage the folks in charge to stay away from year round programming which is what we need. I'm not a fan of a lot of these reality shows but I'm at least glad ABC is trying original stuff this summer rather than air the repeats. Who seriously watches these repeats time and time again? With 100+ channels, there's always something better on or you know, people can always go outside.

Nah. What you meant to say is that if the characters are actually characters with lives and not robots like they are on every other CBS show, it will bomb.

Star Trek was as good as dead when it ended on UPN a few years ago. I don't see it becoming a mass hit again. A lot of people complained about the storylines on Enterprise but from what I read/heard, the last season or two were actually not bad.

Actually, if done well, Streets of San Francisco could do really well for the network. It will all depend on how edgy and modern they can make it. I think it is a good idea. quote: Originally posted by A.C.:

I'd say the biggest loser was Monday itself. Everything did poorly. It's hard to pick a winner in the bunch.

Sadly, you're right. Although I will continue to pump Nashville Star, if only for my old neighbor, Shawn Mayer!

Star Trek did overcome that hurdle, but the over dilution and mis handling of the franchise by Rick Berman, after the death of Gene R., brought the franchise down to just a shadow of its former self. As usual, a lot would depend on the concept and execution, but Star trek is a Scifi frnchise that can and has been a success on mainstream TV. quote: Originally posted by A.C.: quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: On the subject of remakes, CBS may have a ptential BIG one available.

It's still amazing how repeats beat originals. quote: Once you do a “D” list celebrity version a la The Mole, it is hard, if not impossible, to return with a regular contestant version.
D-list celebrities+small cast=poor ratings. DX
