You are correct, only Heroes would count. Since this is close to a 'one time' situation, everyone will be well aware of Heroes Monday number separate from their 'encore' number.

Primetime's choosing to count all show's encores is just another case of him trying to change the subject into something different that what was said.

I am not tracking them in official rankings (except for Heroes since Nielsen is), but only to show apples to apples. By the way, no one will know the Monday number by itself if you only look at the final weekly rankings (which is the one that it posted in the newpapers and national magazines).

The only number that matters for Heroes the ad market, Nielsens and 99% of the population is Monday + Saturday which will bring heroes into the top 7.

again, if the rule is in effect, it will only apply to Heroes (as it is the only show that had the same commericals in the 2nd airing as the first)

It is in effect and you are agreeing with exactly what I said.

Yep...and very likely the advertiser for Heroes knew that the encore would be done with the same commercial list and based their payment for both nights' showing when they originally signed on.

Do you think that you can regularly change subjects in an attempt to make yourself right? Has it ever worked for you in the past?

Who cares? It's premiere week and Heroes is in the top 7! Awesome.

Never did...you're nuts. I always said the official rankings would count Heroes and if you want to compare apples to apples you can. You are providing nothing to the subject, time for you to pack and go away from this one, thanks.

More research I have dug up on the subject:

Nielsen said this week that the ratings would be reported next Tuesday with the national weekly ratings, but with the Saturday repeat of "Heroes" taken out of the mix. The numbers will be combined into one rating.

Hooray!

Since I taped both the K-Ville second episode shown on Monday and the K-Ville pilot shown on Friday on repeat, I can say that the commercials were the same. So K-Ville would qualify if FOX choose to go down that path and use the rule.

Your calculations are incorrect. The new number to be added to the previous showing is only new unique viewers of the program, so only those who didn't watch it on Monday. It is not as simple as adding 1 and 2 together. So really no one will know where Heroes falls until finals are released.

Heroes 14.3+3.62 = 17.92 (Currently moves into 5th just behind house and in front of DWTS (Wed)).

Chuck 9.21+4.63 = 13.84

LAO: SVU 12.12+5.62 = 17.74

Moonlight 8.62+4.65=13.27

Cane 11.21+3.81=15.02

Kville 6.13+1.30=7.43

Reaper 3.28+2.53=5.76

Repeats to come tonight:

ANTM and Gossip Girl.

Even with SNF and DH, Heroes will be no worse than 7th for the week, None of the other qualify for the supersized rating because they didn't air the same commercials.

That's good news for the show! Fox would need to alert Nielsen to get them combined.

You are incorrect. The total numbers are added together. Do some research. Thanks.

FYI = the numbers are for unduplicated audience..

Nielsen will weed through both showings and remove duplicate viewers and then will add between 1 and 3.62M viewers to the total....

and you can start by throwing out any DVR user with a season pass that would have recorded the show automatically...

My calculations are based on a theoretical maximum. There may be a few hundred K that watched it again.

1. Seat4F is correct - it is only unduplicated audience...those who watched on Saturday, but did not watch on Monday

2. Others are correct - the nielsen rule stipulates that it only counts for shows that air the same national commercials. For this week, it is only HEROES. Chuck, the CBS Saturday repeats and K-VILLE on Friday had different commercials, and therefore their averages will not be cumed

3. The new rule is currently not on hold, although Nielsen is revisiting the implementation and may backtrack and not allow it.

4. I dont know if the weekly averages to date in the thread are correct, as with the current Nielsen rule, the HEROES number on Monday will go up, and NBC's Saturday 8-9pm HEROES number will not be included in NBC's weekly average...they will not have a rating for Saturday 8-9pm hour and their weekly average will be for only 20.5 hours of programming (22 - Sat 8-9pm hour - Sunday 7-730p, which has no national commercials for NBC, so it is also not rated by Nielsen). Part of the reason many in the advertising and networks are objecting to this new Nielsen rule.
