-Ratings Breakdown: Based on the following results, you would never know it was the first Saturday of the 2007-08 season. The four networks combined, in fact, totaled just 19.40 million viewers. Fox’s perennial combination of Cops (Viewers: avg. 5.90 million, A18-49: avg. 1.9/ 7) and America’s Most Wanted (Viewers: 6.18 million, A18-49: 2.0/ 6) won the evening, with a first-place finish in total viewers and adults 18-49 in each half-hour from 8-10 p.m. Cops was themed 20 Years Caught on Tape.
Saturday Night Football on ABC finished fourth overall in total viewers (4.62 million), but second among adults 18-49 (1.6/ 5) from 8-11 p.m. NBC aired repeats of Heroes (Viewers: #4, 3.62 million; A18-49: #4, 1.0/ 4), Chuck (Viewers: #2, 4.63 million; A18-49: #3, 1.3/ 5), and Law & Order: SVU (Viewers: #1, 5.62 million; A18-49: #1, 1.6/ 6). And CBS capped off the night with a repeat of Moonlight (Viewers: #3, 4.65 million; A18-49: #3, 1.3/ 5), a repeat of Cane (Viewers: #4, 3.81 million; A18-49: #4, 0.8/ 3), and the season-premiere of 48 Mystery, which finished second in total viewers (4.89 million) and third among adults 18-49 (1.2/ 4). Is this a pathetic night of television, or what?

Moonlight repeated very well, giving CBS it's top demo score of the night, even edging out a brand new 48 Hours Mystery.
The two-night cume audience for Moonlight:
13.250 million viewers, 3.8 A18-49
CBS would be very wise to continue doubling up Moonlight in the first few weeks to ensure continued wide sampling of this intriguing gothic series.
In comparison, the same week encores of Cane and Heroes did not do so well. The Heroes Monday broadcast should get very little lift in its final number from what I expect to be a relatively paltry incremental viewership.

The CBS numbers will probably adjust as the shows started late on the east coast running on about a 40 minute delay.

I don't excpect the placement to change at all after tonight. I'd expect the battle for second between NBC and CBS to go back and forth over the next few weeks until the Net's go into repeats and both NBC and ABC go into free-fall.
I thought Nielsen was putting rule on hold. Also, the show needed to have same exact commercials to count. I thought that was only the case with Heroes.

Chuck 9.21+4.63 = 13.84 (Currently moves into 16th behind NCIS and in front of 2.5 men).
LAO: SVU 12.12+5.62 = 17.74 (Currently moves into 6th behind Heroes and in front of DTWS (Wed)).
Moonlight 8.62+4.65=13.27 (Currently moves into 18th behind 2.5 men and in front of Cold Case).
Cane 11.21+3.81=15.02 (Currently moves into 11th behind Survivor and in front of Private Practice.)
Kville 6.13+1.30=7.43 (Moves up 3 spots)
Reaper 3.28+2.53=5.76 (Moves up 2 spots).
Repeats to come tonight:
ANTM and Gossip Girl.
Even with SNF and DH, Heroes will be no worse than 7th for the week, Chuck and Moonlight will be in the top 20, LAO: SVU will be in the top 10, and Cane will be no worse than 15th!

reality is...in the official lists they will be shown as separate shows.

That nielson rule may not apply to all of those shows... it only applies to shows that repeat their episodes with the exact same advertising. Which is why it works for Heroes so easily, since the premiere was aired as a special presentation by Nissan.

Incorrect:
Peacock decided to do just that with Monday's episode of "Heroes." Seg will be repeated Saturday night, and the numbers for both broadcasts will be counted as one when Nielsen releases final numbers Oct. 2.

You are correct, only Heroes would count. Since this is close to a 'one time' situation, everyone will be well aware of Heroes Monday number separate from their 'encore' number.
Primetime's choosing to count all show's encores is just another case of him trying to change the subject into something different that what was said.
