I too, watch shows for characters, and I couldn't disagree more with you about liking the brothers.

Yeah, it's a bit like disagreeing over favorite colors, isn't it? You like what you like. Roll Eyes

I mean, I'm young but i've seen a lot of tv, old and new, and I can say with certainty i've never seen a more engaging brotherly bond on tv.

You never watched Six Feet Under?

quote:
I guess you haven't seen a lot of episodes

Maybe a dozen or so.

quote:
but you'd have to be heartless not to feel for them.

Um, if they were real people, certainly. I would definitely sympathize with guys who keep getting tortured, killed, and damned to hell on a regular basis. At least they get to have sex occasionally now.

And they're NOT real, so my sympathy is based on how real they seem to me, and right now, not so much. But I know what you mean, and I've been where you are with other shows just as mediocre. I'm just never going to be that deeply into this one. I can still watch, right?

quote:
They're all they have in that depressing life and everything's against them. I mean, when someone is willing to go to hell for other person, it's some deep stuff.

It's an old story, told many times. Caitlin Ni Uallachain comes to mind. SPN is an okay genre show, but absolutely nothing in it is original, and the writing & acting are not first-rate. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. But there's much better stuff out there, waiting for you.

quote:
I like Cortese, but the acting isn't no where near the J's.

Well, she is a supporting character. They are not going to let her overshadow the leads. But you don't think her letting herself be tortured horribly to save some girl she barely knows, just because she likes Sam isn't worth a little respect? And she doesn't even make a big deal about it. Whereas Sam & Dean are such a pair of drama queens. Wink

As for 30 Rock, did anyone really enjoy last night’s episode? It was awful!

For what it's worth, 30 Rock is a brilliantly written and executed show. There is something briliantly funny in almost every line (...away-toilet situation; Cloverfield monsters; Sunstream commercial, etc.)
The humor is not "goosed" like it is in other sitcoms and this is a style that may not be to everyone's taste.
It is paired appropriately with The Office, but is in a bad time slot against two of the highest shows on TV.

BTW I do agree that Grey's needs fixing NOW!

Unfortunately, I think it's going in the way of Just Shoot Me. Started really well, very funny show, then got of its rails in the last few seasons. Maybe another 2 seasons?

LJ Fridays at 9 PM isn't going to do any better. I don't see the audience mixing with the DOND audience. NBC just needs to cut its loses and start fresh.

You never watched Six Feet Under?

I don't think it was a very strong brotherly bond on that show. Each brother had more engaging relationships with other people.

Absolutelly. There's also good taste and bad taste. I believe that SPN goes on the good taste list despite all the chessyness. Smiler

Confused You're kidding right? That's the best example you can come up with? They didn't even get along! The freakin brothers&sisters are closer than those. And Six Feet Under was about the most depressing show ever. And half the dialogue consisted of the F word! I can't believe Allan Ball created that, when he's responsible for the awsome True Blood. But, moving on...

I can still watch, right?

Knock yourself out! You might even enjoy it, God forbid liking a CW show. Red Face

That's up for me to decide. And, i'm familiar with pretty much everything, and this is in my top 5 shows, so to which his/her own. Wink
