Did Smallvillle lose that many viewers last week for the Jets game?
Smallville lost 824,000 viewers last week. Supernatural lost 966,000 viewers last week.
there is every reason to believe Supernatural will be back
I don't think so. Those Supernatural numbers are not real. Finals will drop. Last week they dropped a million, finals for last week: 2.9 So I say there's no reason to celebrate.
I find it hard to believe Pittsburgh would be worth a million viewers, though. I don't think we'll see a drop as drastic as last week's (from a NYC preemption.)
And in general, Supernatural is doing extremely well this season. Not many fourth-season shows hang onto their numbers (and build on them) like Supernatural is this season.

For the last year and a half you have done nothing but rag on ER - how poorly it is doing and how NBC should have ended it years ago (even though it has always been competitive in its time period). I think maybe it shows how bad NBC is doing as opposed to how well ER is doing.
I watched 30 Rock last night because I love Steve Martin. What a bizarre episode. That's the only storyline they could think of??
Supernatural will drop, sure, but I don't think it will be as bad as some people are predicting. I believe Pittsberg is CW's #18 affiliate, which will affect the numbers, but I can't imagine it will be too drastic. I still expect high 3 millions with finals.

You know, the only times i've seen you comment here, has been to bash SPN. Reaper fan with a grudge I assume?

As you say those numbers will drop (I guessed above between half a million to a million). But reason to celebrate, absolutely. THis season each and every week the show has performed better then it did on the year ago. WHile its audience and demo's are small, its rare to see a show improve over the year ago, and that. That is reason to celebrate.
I agree SN is doing well. Doubt id the Pittsburgh drop will be as significant as the NY drop last week. Even if they drop 1/2 mil, still great numbers for the CW. And last weeks drop to 2.94 -- without any viewers at all counted from the #1 NY market -- is still what the rest of the CW shows average, so I'd say it is reason to celebrate.

A pretty bad showing for Mars in its final post-Grey's outing considering Grey's hit its highest demo since the premiere. Retention is only 41% and may well dip below 40% in the finals. It was a really bad week to be a bomb on ABC (although at least Mars got the extension before these numbers came in).
I'd be interested in seeing how an Office (R) could do at 8:30 compared to K&K, or what an Earl (R) followed by Earl original would do. Kudos to The Office for its continued enormous growth out of K&K.
That's great, but I mean, it might have been the worst episode of the season so far. I wish people would tune in for the good ones, and not just because there's a sex scene in the very rare promo. It still had some kickass moments though, and great production as usual.
Even with the final numbers dropping to 2.9 million, Supernatural was the third most watched show on the CW, behind only Smallville and ANTM. Also, the show not only was pre-empted in NY, but it didn't air on a later time. Different from Pittsburgh, where audience was alerted that the episode would be shown at a different slot.
Obs.: Sorry for any grammar mistakes, English is not my native language.
Peace!

Originally posted by Donnie: "Supernatural" and "Smallville" really have good numbers, considering that they are both on the fading CW and on Thursday nights. When did "Supernatural" have 4 million viewers the last time? While I don't watch both shows, it's quite obvious (and for quite a while I might add) that theCW should try a bit harder to satisfy the audience of those shows and not just focus on their teen-girl-demographics. It's just insane that they don't show any love for their most successful scripted shows.
I agree. Tennage girls are NOT just interested in sex/fashion/rich kids. The CW should absolutelly try different things, especially sci-fi. Reaper didn't do horribly and i'm sure it was cheap, looked it anyway. I miss the WB times of Buffy, Roswekll and Angel. Those were the shows I loved when I was a tennage girl.
I think SPN deserved a honarable mention Mark. You gave it one for the season premiere with less numbers and competition.
