Everyone already knows the NCIS spin-off, Flash Forward, Melrose Place, the Gossip Girl spin-off, and Glee are go-series, while Legally Mad will be ordered because of the penalty (but likely saved for a midseason / failed series replacement slot).
As usual I can't comment on the comedy scripts because I haven't read them, but I have heard good things about Happiness Isn't Everything (CBS), Absolutely Fabulous (FOX), and Community (NBC). Meanwhile I've heard terrible things about The Bridget Show (ABC) and Solving Charlie (ABC). So... we shall see in a few weeks!
I'll be back to doing pilot reviews today and over the weekend for those interested.

I don't watch CSI, but I read Fishburn's character couldn't do fingerprints in his first episode. Wha...the... first rule of crime procedurals is the head crimefighter must be reassuringly supercompetent, whatever other quirks they may have. In my view the writers stumbled here. Have they corrected this?

Originally posted by PaulC: True that. The impact of DVRs and online viewing is undeniable. Just look at how fast the network numbers in the last five years have tumbled. We are now talking about shows surviving with a demo barely scratching a 2. That would have meant instant cancellation as recently as two years ago. Ad-supported network television as we have known it is nearing its end. People will deny this up and down, but there was a time GM looked untouchable too. How's it doing?

If that happens will we be able to still tell how shows are doing in th millions.
Originally posted by lopez: [QUOTE]As for how many shows hit a season or series low, the answer is 11: Survivor (series low; non-Thanksgiving), CSI (series), Grey's (series), Office (season), Bones (season), Hell's (season), Smallville (season) and Supernatural (matching season low). Parks, Harper's, and Southland hit lows too, though that's somewhat common for third episodes of a series.
Bones hit a season low on January 22 with 7.52 million viewers. Not last night.

The reaction to Fishburne on CSI boards is mixed. Some like him okay, but don't like the large amount of screen time he gets. But that's a narrow viewership, really. And they are all still watching the show because of their other favorites. A lot of the Jorja Fox fans have stopped watching, as I'm sure have the Gary Dourdan fans. Add that to Petersen's, and we are now seeing the results. Many of these fans sampled the 'new' CSI, but are just not happy with it.
I said this a few weeks ago: the cast chemistry has been off since Fox left; then Petersen's exit just magnified the problem. Even Dourdan's play off George Eads character is missing. All the original cast complimented each other so well. Without that cast chemistry it's just another crime show, no better, no worse. (Although I do think it's still better than Miami or NY.) I think they need to add another character, someone to mix it up, create some tension. Fishburne's character is just too reserved, aka boring. He's just not all that interesting to me. I prefer Dexter, or Grissom, or even Monk. Actually, I prefer The Office these days.

Its sad cause last nights CSI was one of the best this season. I really think that Fishburne should leave and have Cathrine as the head of the group. I love her.

No doubt about it! "Well, well, well! How the turn tables!"

But Parks&Rec should changes its name to Dorks& Retch. It was just flat-out awful. I saw some promise in the pilot...
What? Did that guy scratching himself on the couch in the pilot scream "promise" in such a show?

...and even the second episode, but last night was a trainwreck.
Fortunately, I bailed on the show after episode #1.

Can't NBC just run The Mighty B! instead?
Well, NBC once had the Singing B.

Thank you for that link! My wife and I watch all of our shows via DVR, including 90210 and Dollhouse. The TV is off in our house until our kids are asleep, so we would miss the start of the 8pm shows otherwise. Dollhouse and BBT/HIMYM are my wife's favorite shows, I like Survivor and college football best.
Unfortunately, we do not watch any commercials, so even though we zip through everything before 11pm, we aren't helping the C3 ratings.

Travis is 100% correct. Nikki's "inside sources" gave her a track record of about 50%. You, me, and a dartboard could do about that well. She is a fun, snarky, bitchy, off-color read. But for accuracy, she and Ausiello are about in the same boat.

BlueLick, Bones didn't air opposite a procedural last night and yet, had its worst Thursday 8/7c outing this season.
Like I've stated it before, your procedural-vs-procedural theory isn't completely wrong but it's not absolute either.
On a related note, no reason to prop up most of the procedurals anyway. Most of them involve cookie-cutter, formulaic plots, and are devoid of character development, as if the characters in the show are crime-solving robots. This is why I prefer a show like Bones over most shows in this genre because at least the characters there actually HAVE distinct and interesting personalities.
