I agree. Being in the TV affiliate business is being in a death spiral...kinda like the print business (magazines, newspapers, books, and the stores that rely on them for most sales).
Grey's has been bashed all over the place for a long time now, just not on this forum because few here care enough about it. The CSI problems are more recent and it has a lot of viewers on this forum.
TV-aholic, you're a CSI fan, what are your thoughts on the current show?

If anything, the detectives were the weakest part of this last episode. There was no reason to waste space on the sister of the dead girl storyline at all. I also noticed that this episode focused on the rich and privileged criminals rather than the 'ghetto'.
I find it kind of curious that V isn't on that list. The pilot script was a really good read, and the site I had set up for it is probably the most successful launch I've had in years, so there's clearly interest.
It could be that it's a Warner Bros. production and ABC would rather stay in-house and do the scifi/genre project they do own, though, from what I've read I actually think V would be more accessible than Flash Forward...
Just to clarify, the article doesn't name Raw does it? Are they actually adding the viewer counts for Raw, Smackdown, and Superstars?
Hmm perhaps you're right. I assumed it was Raw since its the highest rated and wouldn't be out of the question to pull those sorts of younger male figures.
Personally, I like the addition of Fishburn. I do think the supporting cast has suffered with the exit of Grissom, then the addition of Fishburn's character. They have not don much all season.
I do think the new Girl CSI is fairly bland.

The main reason I initially said this ep last nite was a step back was because I didn't see a single compelling story line. Of course, it doesn't have to be high drama each time out, but I saw tokenism, lack of depth, and a bit of foolishness last nite.

They might as well keep it there...what else are they going to come up with as the season is one month away from being over that is going to do any better?
Reruns of NCIS, The Mentalist, CSI, CSI Miami, CSI:NY, or Without a Trace could all do better in the timeslot than Harper's Island. Still, I agree that CBS will likely leave Harper's Island there to run out its episodes.

There is an article at the following website that gives more detail. Essentially, WWE have rolled together the male demos from 'Raw', 'ECW', 'Smackdown' and 'Superstars' to arrive at their totals:

I liked the interaction between the two cops veteran/rookie. The rookie was so guarded about his past while the veteran seemed to understand the extreme value that being close and knowing each other can bring to their job.

I hope the show can stay away from 'high drama'. Southland needs to stick with realistic plotlines (not the serial killers and massive hostage situation plotlines of the silly CBS shows).

In other words, pointless hype. They added together 6 hours worth of programming and then claimed to beat each individual hour of Idol, House, or The half hour of The Office. The response article isn't even well written as they claim that American Idol's target demographic is younger than 18-34?
Maybe they should admit that those wrestling shows are really big with the 12 year old boys.
And the worst thing for the nets is that the demo they covet so, are the same people who are using the new technology the most. Take a look at this chart from TV by the Numbers. The percentage of 18-49 who aren't watching live or same day must be giving the execs fits.

This weekend will probably see near record lows for live viewership. We are having our first really nice weekend here (and in much of the country)and most everyone will probably be outside until it goes dark.

We are now talking about shows surviving with a demo barely scratching a 2. That would have meant instant cancellation as recently as two years ago. Ad-supported network television as we have known it is nearing its end. People will deny this up and down, but there was a time GM looked untouchable too. How's it doing?

Ya, as soon as I posted I remembered there were some worthwhile moments between those two.
