Here is what I wrote here in august 2008 for a thread stating William Peterson was cutting his CSI workload. The CSI writers changed the new leads role a bit, obviously, however I think my analysis of the future person to take Peterson's role has been pretty accurate. Even after watching it myself after being a fan for many years. As robert said, these past 5 episodes have just been poor in quality.

Word today is they are looking at Laurence Fishburne to replace William Peterson as the new lead. Other candidates are John Malkovich and Kurt Russell.

Whoever comes into the role, the role's focus right now is to be that of a doctor/scientist by education, but who fits the profile of a serial killer (but has never actually killed anyone).

Thoughts?
-idea somewhat ripped from Dexter
-I think Fishburne is a mistake. Race has nothing to do with it, so I'll get that out of the way. I just generally don't think his style of acting is appealing and conducive to the CSI vibe.
-John Malkovich is a phenomenal actor who has worked in many genre's & styles, I think he'd be best served for the role.
-Kurt Russell??? Clearly going for the name game here. IMO, Kurt Russell has never shown to be that inspiring of an actor in any of his works.

Well uh... you need someone who has "experience" so not too young here from a credibility standpoint. The idea of Kurt Russell was appealing though - not bad for an old guy.

Who was it again that had temporarily replaced Peterson only to get himself killed? I forgot but he was miles better than Fishburne.

They might as well keep it there...what else are they going to come up with as the season is one month away from being over that is going to do any better?

Last year Nikki's initial "Hot List" was about 50/50 right/wrong and, to me, this list looks about the same. This year also has a lot of obvious / pre-ordained go-series, so I honestly think much of this list should be taken with a grain of salt. Everyone already knows the NCIS spin-off, Flash Forward, Melrose Place, the Gossip Girl spin-off, and Glee are go-series, while Legally Mad will be ordered because of the penalty (but likely saved for a midseason / failed series replacement slot).

As usual I can't comment on the comedy scripts because I haven't read them, but I have heard good things about Happiness Isn't Everything (CBS), Absolutely Fabulous (FOX), and Community (NBC). Meanwhile I've heard terrible things about The Bridget Show (ABC) and Solving Charlie (ABC). So... we shall see in a few weeks!

I'll be back to doing pilot reviews today and over the weekend for those interested.

It comes full circle for you X.

The actor is Liev Schreiber, who played Michael Keppler, a Trenton NJ cop.

Liev Schreiber is in the new movie, next week, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with your favorite, Hugh Jackman.

Jackman was in the worst TV Show in the 2000's, Viva Laughlin, which Debuted after CSI.

Mercy was the worst script I ever read, I really hope NBC don't pick it up. Flash Forward was a great script, Glee was the kind of script that I feel will depend on how well it's done. I loved Fish Tank, Darke Bell is starring in it as well (as far as I know) and I think he's a fantastic actor so I'm pretty sold on that show. Washington Field could be good if done right. I have yet to read Legally Mad but I've heard it's not great.

I see Inside The Box, V and Westwick (ABC) are missing from that prediction list. I thought V and Westwick were pretty much a go? The CW will need more than 2 new shows.

The weather warms up so people watch more TV online?
Sheesh, not everyone keeps their computer down in the basement where it is cooler in the summer. Wink

Nikke Finke is to journalism, what Jessica Simpson is to acting.
