I'd guesstimate that HUT levels go up 10%+ just from 8pm to 8:30pm. I'm sure that they are up at least 20% from 8pm to 9pm because the networks tend to put their strongest shows on at 9pm and have built that HUT level over the long term.

However, whatever 'free' gain Pushing Daisies got from the increased HUT level would be offset by the one-time-only timeslot change causing many casual fans to miss the program (especially since ABC put up a logo at the start of the 8pm hour announcing that Pushing Daisies would be new in 2 weeks, but failing to mention that Pushing Daisies was going to be on later that night).

Great post..

the ratings for DSM in a down year for all shows, on a frosh night are steady as a rock..You can hate , but you self admittedly do not have the power to pull the show, nor to clearly see or analyze the ratings. Your a clone, thats all. My boy made the decision based on demo factor, not total viewers. 9.5 is not necessary at all what is is better demo #'s.

The writers already finished the scripts, the show is fab, and it continues. Season 2 budgets are being prepped so you will have to be a hater for many years to follow.

Your name says alot, Mr. Riff Raff..

Are all below-the-belt (below-the-shoe, whatever you are) workers this, um, passionate? This post has to be a joke, right? Right?? If it isn't, please up your dosage, stat.

Not that I'd ever accuse you of paying attention to anything I ever posted here, but I seem to recall writing nice things about its performance for losing fewer of its premiere audience than "Private Parts" did. I also told TV-aholic I thought it was fairly stable. Granted, the show went on to prove me wrong, turning in some terribly limp November sweeps numbers that are way too low to justify its high-paid cast, and now this week, not even hanging on to the lousy "Pushing Daisies" lead-in. It also has serious tonal problems that it doesn't look like anyone is in any rush to fix.

Of course I don't have the power to pull the show. Is that a power I really need when its ratings keep getting lower and lower? Its cancellation can't come soon enough, as far as I'm concerned, because I think I speak for everyone when I say I'm sick of reading your "musings" on the subject.

Riff, I can tell you right now you don't speak for everyone. I actually enjoy DirtySexyJ's "musings" and if you don't then perhaps you should just put them on ignore.

I don't put people on ignore. I especially don't say I'm putting people on ignore, fail to put them on ignore, and then continue to respond to their posts.

DirtySexyJA doesn't understand the difference between the fast nationals and the finals. He's just about the last person here who has any right to be giving other people a refresher course on the ratings.

If ABC (or any other network) wants to make a holiday special that will endure, they need to make more it about the holiday and less about the franchise.

I'd love to see a Ratatouille Christmas special, but the movie seemed a bit lost on the American audience.

I agree that the movie was a bit lost on American audiences which is a shame. However, the movie did extemely well overseas (at least twice the domestic box office) and a holiday special can provide Disney a good return with International sales regardless of how it would do on ABC. In addition, it could also air on ABC Family and the Disney Channel. Disney should look more closely at the Pixar characters and try to create a new holiday treasure.

sorry if I offended you, not my intent.

I know my support of my own show seems silly to you, and I share a more positive veiw as I happen to look at so much more that "the ratings"

ABC Loves the SHow and the core is there, you keep saying we are losing viewrs when in fact we gained viewers and it will happen again tomoprrow. We have a core, just need to build.

We did something no other show EVER has... oh actually two things.

Do you have any idea what they are?

DirtySexyJ - Riff speaks for absolutely no one. No one shares his views and it is delusional in thinking that everyone does. You don't need to put him on ignore, but take anything it says with a grain of salt.

This is a TV forum for Christ's sake! Riff talks more about his dislike for others than the actual shows themselves and why Marc hasn't banned Riff is a mystery.

Muse all you want DirtyJ, many of us ARE interested.

Marc - we do pretty much all get along - except for one individual on this board. I've been on this board for awhile now and constantly have to be subjected to Riff's nasty, mean-spirited and totally inappropriate comments towards various individuals. His negative energy directed towards others just brings the whole board down for everyone else.

DSM probably will do better tonight simply because it will have less competition than ever before. CSI: NY is a repeat.

DSM is up against the season finale of Life, though. I'll predict somewhere between 6.75 and 7.5 million viewers for DSM and a 2.4demo.

1.first show to get a full season pickup during a strike..
2.finishing 13 original episodes , during a strike.this was a very difficult line to walk

We are thankful for both.
