Thanks for posting these. DSM numbers prove it was foolish of ABC to order more episodes. By the time fresh episodes arrive after the strike it will probably be abandoned by most viewers.

Studios Give Writers a Sweetened Offer 31 minutes ago LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hollywood studios presented a sweetened contract offer to striking film and TV writers Thursday, and negotiators requested a four-day recess to consider it, the producers' organization said. The talks will resume Tuesday, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers said in a statement. There was no immediate comment from the Writers Guild of America. Talks had been held under a media blackout since Monday. The producers said the new offer, dubbed the "New Economic Partnership," included payments for work shown on the Internet, the key sticking points in the talks. "The entire value of the New Economic Partnership will deliver more than $130 million in additional compensation above and beyond the more than $1.3 billion writers already receive each year," the statement said. The $130 million sum appeared to be an annual figure, but the brief statement did not clarify whether it was per year or over the three-year life of a proposed new contract. No details of the terms were released. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iE0uIqtrdPXiNMr1qniAIsCAa0fwD8T7NKM80

quote: Originally posted by dumont: ABC Triumphs in November Sweep, Winning A18-49 by 0.4 Margin and Almost Tieing CBS in Households and ViewersThis is an update to my post earlier today. I have applied todays finals, and revised my Friday final numbers based on updated information. I have also revised all my NBC Sunday numbers to capture only the 8-11 pm hours (the 7-8 pm runs without ads, and is considered unrated). So the NBC numbers have changed up a bit. In the Sweep, ABC averaged 3.7 in A18-49 (down 9% from last years 4.0 average) and defeated CBS by a 0.4 margin in A18-49. CBS came in second place with a 3.3 average (down from 3.7 last year) and NBC came in third place with a 3.2 average in A18-49 (down from 3.7 last year). FOX was 0.2 behind in fourth place with a 3.0 average in A18-49, The CW finished in fifth with a 1.1 in A18-49 with MyNetworkTV bringing up the rear with its 0.4 in A18-49. In households and viewership, CBS came in first over ABC. In households, CBS won with a 7.6HH average while ABC was just behind with 7.4HH. In viewership, CBS averaged 11.9 million viewers, while ABC is just a few hundred thousand back with a 11.5 million viewer average. The race for third through sixth places in households and viewers has been pretty stable throughout the Sweep period, with NBC in third, FOX fourth, The CW trailing in fifth and MyNetworkTV bringing up the rear in sixth. On a year-over-year basis, FOX and MyNetworkTV are the only networks consistently showing year-over-year improvement from the first day of the Sweep in demo, households and viewers. In the end, ABC was down 8% in demo, but up by 1% in households and viewership. The other three networks finished up mostly down in the 10-25% territory which is ascribed to the effects of DVRs and time-shifted viewing.

Dumont, I believe the 7:30 to 8pm Sunday portion for NBC should be included. Only the 7-7:30 p.m. portion is sustaining programming and does not figure in the nightly or weekly primetime averages. NBC in their weekly ratings report includes the average from 7:30pm.

So far as its new shows, the returns are not totally in on "hits" PP, PD and SW -- any one of which could pull a Commander in Chief as the season progresses.
Any reaction to this? . . . And I'm really curious to hear what Mark has to say.

Funny how the networks which is what matters see things more clearly.
ABC which you guys Love to bash will be raising as rates.
Dirty Sexy Money" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
Taking second to CBS' veteran "C.S.I.: NY," ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" topped its freshman drama competition during the 10 o'clock hour, NBC's "Life," by 13% in Total Viewers (7.1 million vs. 6.3 million) and by 18% in Adults 18-49 (2.6/7 vs. 2.2/6). The new ABC series ranked No. 1 in its time period among Women 18-34 (3.3/9).
"Dirty Sexy Money" was up week to week by 11% in Viewers and by 30% in Adults 18-49 (6.4 million and 2.0/6 on 11/21/07).
Dirty Sexy money WINS AGAIN in 18-34 and this includes facing established CSI NY!!!
Hmm looks like 8/9 weeks we have won that demo and ABC looks to be happy.
I have a full season pickup and am currently prepping a SEASON 2 BUDGET including getting Jill a trailer on site.. LOL
You guys and your inaccurate and ridiculous predictions LOL,
" oh Life is done" " Pushing daisy's is fading" "DSM should be cancelled"
Funny LIFE GETS PICKED UP, DSM GETS POICKED UP AND PD GETS HIGHEST RATING SINCE PREMEIRE , yet it is fading??? Oh and BTW DSM retained the highest % of a lead in to date. 7.15/8.2m
THATS STEADY , THATS DOMINATION in a DEMO and thats why we got a PICKUP.
I wonder what the ratings will look like after the "fresh touch" episodes by your gofers start to air. And I wasn't aware that "DSM should be cancelled" was a prediction. But then I don't work in Hollywood, so I'm not hip to all the lingo.

I know it's all about retention from one show to the next with the networks, but we are not all idiots that will just watch the next show just because we can't use the remote, I am a TV creators dream and an network executives nightmare, I DVR everything! I think over 10 million viewers for a quirky show like 'Pushing Daisy's' is great, stop making it so negative! Grinch had 18m it dropped to 10m, theres a huge difference and audience between a new show and on old holiday favorite! How many peopled DVRed or TiVoed PD? I am glad that DVRs are being monitored now, finaly someone tracking my watching habits (I VCRed before that)

From Variety-- http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117976712.html?categoryid=14&cs=1quote: ABC used Wednesday's holiday specs to lead into "Pushing Daisies" at a special time of 9 o'clock. Though it attracted new viewers under 35 and logged best-since-premiere scores overall (3.7/9, 9.99m), it couldn't match what "Private Practice" has averaged in the slot this fall.
And that opening helped other shows in the time period: CBS drama "Criminal Minds" won the hour (4.5/11 in 18-49, 16.23m) with its best scores since the conclusion of its post-Super Bowl seg last February; Fox's nonscripted frosh "Kitchen Nightmares" achieved highs (3.3/8, 7.03m); and CW's first-year series "Gossip Girl" (1.4/3, 2.93m) logged its second best scores to date.
And ABC is known for its generosity and willingness to share the audience with its rivals. They want to help the hits of other networks get even bigger, and struggling shows on other networks survive. And this desire to help other networks do better will surely persuade them to keep PD on the air. Right?

"TV peaked with Rockford Files", my Mom loves that show, she still watches in reruns sometimes. My guess is you must be in your 50s-60s. That explains a lot about your tastes, It's not meant to be insulting, but people from different generations have different tastes, especially when it comes to humor.
Even though we are from different generations, seriously - Rockford Files is the peak
Yes it is, but I ain't that old yet. I hadn't even hit puberty when The Rockford Files premiered. I think Beth Davenport was my first crush.

Yes, vlis, PD went up in raw numbers, but it was shown at 9:00PM, when raw numbers are higher than those at 8:00PM. And it had a huge lead in from The Grinch (18mil) AND dipped badly at the half hour. People turned the channel when PD came on, and a bunch of those who didn't turn the channel at 9:00PM did so at 9:30PM.
That does, indeed, merit a "fading fast" label.
Well, let's put things in perspective. SW got "Honorable mention" on Monday. PD got "Fading fast". quote: ABC’s competing Samantha Who? moved up one half-hour with a still respectable 12.62 million viewers (#2) and a 4.1/ 9 among adults 18-49 (#2), but the retention out of the second-half of lead-in Dancing With the Stars (Viewers: 26.13 million; A18-49: 6.7/15 at 8:30 p.m.) was just 48 percent in viewers and 61 percent in the demo.
.....
Second was a 9 p.m. telecast of ABC’s fading Pushing Daisies (Viewers: 10.18 million; A18-49: 3.8/ 9) (...) Retention, meanwhile, out of the How the Grinch Stole Christmas encore (18.74 million viewers and a 6.8/17 in the demo at 8:30 p.m) was just 54 percent in total viewers and 56 percent in the demo.
So PD did drop at the 1/2-hour, but its lead-in and time slot was a one-time event. SW, on the other hand, had its usual lead-in. It was the second best performance of PD in the demo, and a series-low for SW. (Edit: and the Finals for SW were actually: 11/26/07 11.69 M 3.7 It sure would be interesting if PD ended up beating SW in the demo ) That's all there is between a "Fading fast" and "Honorable mention"?
Thats a VERY valid point & I think it needs to be bumped.

SW may not have deserved the honorable mention (shrugs indifferently), but PD definitely earned its fading fast. Thing is, SW has been a really strong performer in its early weeks, and Marc doesn't tend to downgrade a show like that right away. He's giving it an honorable mention to underline the fact that it doesn't rate the winner's column. Whereas PD has been out of the winner's column for most of its run to date (in spite of incredibly weak competition), and Marc finally felt obliged to point out its seriously deteriorating performance, relative to what it should be doing under the circumstances. It's had a very easy time in its regular timeslot, and should have built a bigger audience by now (and every show has to deal with the holidays, every year, so don't even try to trot that well-worn excuse out again). Over and over, I see people misinterpreting Marc's little editorial nods, and looking for bias that just isn't there. I'm sure I do too, but I do at least try to understand what he's getting at, where he's coming from--it's an expectations game, a percentages game, and there are a lot of factors at work, that have to be balanced out. It's an art, not a science.
