Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.

-Ratings Breakdown: CBS won this uneventful December Monday, with an overall first-place finish in both total viewers and adults 18-49. Next was NBC, followed by ABC and Fox tying for the third and fourth-place spots, and the CW a lonely fifth.
CBS and NBC opened the evening on a winning note care of How I Met Your Mother and the first hour of an expanded Deal or No Deal. Take a look:
CBS – Mon. 8 p.m. How I Met Your Mother Viewers: 8.45 million (#2), A18-49: 3.3 rating/9 share (#1)
NBC – Mon. 8-9 p.m. Deal or No Deal Viewers: 11.89 million (#1), A18-49: 3.0/ 8 (#1t overall)
How I Met Your Mother led into another encore telecast of The Big Bang Theory, which finished fourth in total viewers (7.53 million) and second among adults 18-49 (2.8/ 7) at 8:30 p.m. Also airing in the 8 p.m. hour was repeat ABC special I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown (Viewers: #3, 7.81 million; A18-49: #3, 2.6/ 7), a repeat of Fox’s House (Viewers: #4, 7.62 million; A18-49: #4, 2.4/ 7), and the CW’s struggling combination of Everybody Hates Chris (Viewers: #5, 2.09 million; A18-49: #5, 0.9/ 2) and Aliens in America (Viewers: #5, 1.84 million; A18-49: #5, 0.7/ 2).
The second hour of NBC’s expanded (translation: overused) Deal or No Deal won the 9 p.m. hour overall, with 13.56 million viewers and a 3.7/ 9 among adults 18-49. For the two hours, Deal or No Deal averaged 12.73 million viewers and a 3.3/ 9 in the demo from 8-10 p.m.
A repeat of CBS’ Two and a Half Men got plenty of leverage in the 9 p.m. half-hour, with 11.70 million viewers (#2) and a first-place 3.8/ 9 among adults 18-49. That led into hiatus-bound Rules of Engagement at 9.61 million viewers and a 3.3/ 8 in the demo, which was second in both categories at 9:30 p.m.
Airing on ABC from 9-10 p.m. were fading ABC sitcoms Samantha Who? (Viewers: #3, 6.72 million; A18-49: #3, 2.8/ 7), which is not much without former lead-in Dancing With the Stars, and Notes From the Underbelly, which dipped to just 4.56 million viewers (#4) and a 2.0/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#3) at 9:30 p.m. Also in the time period was Fox’s waiting-to-be axed K-Ville (Viewers: #4, 5.13 million; A18-49: #4, 1.5/ 4), and the CW’s Girlfriends (Viewers: #5, 2.05 million; A18-49: #5, 0.9/ 2) and The Game (Viewers: #5, 2.40 million; A18-49: #5, 1.2/ 3). Considering the ongoing growth for The Game out of Girlfriends, it might make sense for the CW to flip both comedies.
First at 10 p.m. was CBS’ still potent CSI: Miami at 14.09 million viewers and a 3.9/11 among adults 18-49. Comparably, that built from lead-in Rules of Engagement by a hefty 4.48 million viewers and 18 percent in the demo. NBC’s Journeyman (Viewers: #2, 5.56 million; A18-49: #3, 1.8/ 5) and ABC’s October Road (Viewers: #3, 5.19 million; A18-49: #2, 2.2/ 6) shared the low-rated second and third place spots.

With these numbers, ABC should change its Monday strategy for January -- it makes no sense to bring down a potentially high-rated night with shows that don't have much of a following.
I recommend they move both NFTU and October Road to Fridays, and move Men In Trees and Women's Murder Club to higher-profile )and higher-HUT) nights.
The only redeeming thing is that October Road actually built on its NFTU lead-in, and the 5-mil and 2.2 demo ratings would actually be good for Friday.
So my recommendation for Mondays in January:
8pm Dance War 9pm Samantha Who? 9:30 Miss/Guided 10pm SuperNanny (it has done very well in this timeslot in the past)
The DOND ratings are kind of interesting -- NBC might be able to salvage the winter season if the show holds up in January and onwards, but if they really plan to plug it THREE times a week, the show will be done by May because people are just going to tire of it.
The SW numbers, on the other hand, are just scary bad. Kinda-sorta reminds me of HMHY...hope SW doesn't see the same fate!

I'm already tired of it. They move the show along so sloooooooooowly! I'd be much more inclined to watch if they sped things up and ditched the filler. Last night may have seen a spike because of the heavily promoted twists in the game. Did anyone watch? Did the twists help at all? What were they?

So I guess ABC can stop airing those "#1 New Comedy" commercials for Samantha Who? now...
I think it's very dissapointing how fickle the viewers are being to SAMANTHA WHO for abandoning it especially when its on against a repeat of a CBS sitcom.
It really is their best sitcom in years. ABC better figure out a way to save it so it can get a Season 2.
