CBS should move "Survivor" to another night (I suggest Sundays) while it is still useful and give some other new show the chance to shake things up on Thursdays.
Some new shows on Thursdays won't be able to shake things up. And why would Fox move American Idol to Thursday to delude their viewer pool against CSI and Grey's Anatomy. Fox did not move Idol into the Thursday slot for 5 years and they are not going to move it now.

Now Sundays at 8pm would really work for CBS. It would give them 10-12 million viewers and a good demo number leading into CC and Shark

15 million viewers for Survivor is amazing considering that every show has shown a decline in viewers. Besides football or a special event, has any series hit 15 million viewers since May????

Is Leslie the new Wamber? Even her little montage in the opening credits had her crying.

I think Survivor is off to a fantastic start. 15+ million viewers is a great number. I have a feeling that this show will pretty much hold, if not increase, it's viewership within the coming weeks.

DFTL and AYSTA5thG are doing well for FOX. I'm actually surprised how well they are doing since I don't understand the appeal to either show. That being said, once everything gets into full swing, I have a feeling these numbers will decline.

B&TG is absolutely bombing for the CW. Yes, it is a repeat but 1.79 million viewers? They could have aired infomercials and gotten pretty much the same audience. The viewership isn't there for this show.

At the end of last season, all shows had a decline in their viewers, even Idol (most blamed it on Day light savings), Survivor even had 13 million viewer weeks, so I was glad to see that it started off with with over 15 million. Curious to see the rankings of the top shows.

Marc - would you have Grey's and CSI's audience numbers from Thursday the 14th 2006 to see how the episode-before-the-premiere comparison stacks up?

As for Survivor, the fact that everyone says it's dead in the water, and yet it still manages a fairly steady audience speaks well of it.

I mean, yes, it keeps dropping every year, but most shows wouldn't cry over 15 million.

For those who are newcomers to PIFeedback.com, this forum game involves you picking just one program per network. After a 4-week period, you see how each of your shows do in the weekly ratings and rankings. The winner of the game is the one who picked the 5-show roster that ranked and rated the best from its original spot chosen in the game (top, mid or bottom sections).

A new game premieres every week, so although you can only participate once each week, 4 prior games overlap in compiling points.

If anyone remembers the now-defunct Billboard Challenge at Billboard.com (involving albums), this game is basically the same, with just slight differences, like here, you can pick shows that have NOT aired yet.

Although it's the first game of the new fall season, it is technically Game #44 of the Challenge. (yup, this is my 44th consecutive week of posting the Challenge!)

To add about the new season PI Feedback Challenge Cup, this season will last until Game #59, ending on the Sunday of January 13th.

The 2008 Winter/Spring season Begins January 14, Game #60 (after holiday reruns). For more information, standings and records of the PI Feedback Challenge CUP, visit the PIFC CUP Web site

Survivor, now set in China, was a time period victory with 15.12 million viewers and a 4.9 rating/15 share among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m.

Although the ratings may be down from year-to-year, last spring's FIJI edition was holding stead at about 13.5 - 14 million viewers per week. Now, they are up about 1.5 million (10% ish) from that number.

As rapidly as homes are getting DVRs, you almost can't look at year-to-year numbers because of the different vieweing technology that is available in more homes.

Jeff Probst commented that she was one of the most negative people he's ever come across in the history of the show. She seems very intolerant and snooty (and she's a waitress so....huh?)..

Looking forward to the Leslie vs. Todd (the gay mormon flight attendant) fights... Evangelical Christian don't approve of Mormons let alone gays.

I kind of thought it a little odd that they descibed him as a "Gay Mormon". Will him being a Mormon ever come in to play of the game???
Being gay has yet to play a factor.

I still say Les is so conservative on Thursdays, there's only one thing he'll take out "Survivor" or "CSI" with, and that's only with a genuine Freshman hit. Think of it like "The Simpsons". 20 years ago that show came out as a genuine hit and so FOX moved it to Thusdays to try to break the Almighty Cosby. It didn't work, but with the 15+ million viewers, I think the only show that Les would even consider movign in would be "2.5 Men" and that would risk the Monday dominance.

It is not the same as NBC on Thursdays because the shows and their casts for Survior (Probst) and CSI are locked in for at least 3 more years. So if you're looking for a switch-around on CBS Thursdays 8-10pm, I wouldn't hold your breath.
