the Ex-List probably won't even need to 'hit' for CBS to win Fridays. NBC, meanwhile, has Deal or No Deal scheduled there with will top anything ABC or FOX air on the night.

Yep, though I don't expect MNTV to win any Fridays the way CW did.
I've got to admit as as a former Swingtown viewer I gave up on the show around the time Flashpoint came out, but I might come back to it if a cable net picks it up. My best bets would be Showtime, FX, Lifetime, or AMC. Swingtown could easily be a hit cable series on these networks.
FOX might have something in Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader on Friday nights starting next week. They could be what COPS and AMW does for Saturdays fixing the FOX Friday problem. Seriously for a repeat of 5th Grader to reach around 6 million viewers that's very successful and the show has replay value too, which is even more important long-term for a possible syndication series.
Don't Forget the Lyrics had 6.3 million viewers last year on a Friday, I'm pretty sure this show will do okay.
Smackdown is still proving to be a Friday night force for MNTV in five more weeks. Smackdown has been heavily pre-empted since April by baseball. The real numbers for Smackdown should show up in late October or November.
I do think the Ex-list needs to hit. CBS has consecutively canceled 3 programs in that time-slot. The well-cast but directionally challenged Threshold, the decently rated (but excremental, IMO) Close to Home and the well-loved but doomed Moonlight. CBS obviously is looking for something that slots in between GW and Numbers. If it's not around 9 million and a 2.2, then it's gone.

I agree. If they wanted to just stick something Friday at 9 PM to fill a hole, Moonlight would have been renewed. CBS wants something that can at least hold the Friday audience, if not build on it. If Ex List does not do this, it will be cancelled. My guess is that it is going ot be very hard for Ex List to get to the 8.5 to 9 million, low 2 demo level and stay there.

Unfortunately for Swingtown, it lost ratings and demo in the half hour, meaning people are still turning it off, and it is third in both viewers and demos in its timeslot. The slight ratings bump could be explained by the fact that Numbers had a rating increase and people just stuck around to check it out for a few minutes. It isn't attractive to cable networks. If Moonlight couldn't find a cable home, Swingtown has little chance of it.

Media reports have CBS Exects shopping it around to cable networks...hopefully they will take notice and one of them will pick it up.
I'm honestly just surprised that CBS aired the whole run.
I'm not sure what possessed them to seek out a show that was so "outside of their box" to begin with, but I'm glad for the fans that they actually gave a big FU to the detractors and aired all the episodes.
CBS does seem to be trying to create shows that fall outside of the procedural genre. Of course they keep canceling things like Moonlight and Jericho, so I don' think they really get the concept of serialized drama. You don't have to attract 10 million viewers this week, you have to attract the same 10 million viewers that you had last week, every week.
It's a lot like the difference between having a casual sexual relationship and being married.

Well-loved Moonlight? By who? And how you dare calling C2H excremental. It was Emmy material compared to the crappy Moonlight
Moonlight was one of those shows that had a very rabid fan following of people who loved the show more than is probably healthy. Apparently, there just weren't enough of them.
