-Ratings Breakdown: There was little of note, as usual, on this typically lackluster Saturday, with SEC Football on CBS (Florida vs. LSU) first in the 8-11 p.m. block with 7.29 million viewers and a 2.7 rating/9 share among adults 18-49. Second in each of its four half-hours was Fox courtesy of its perennial combination of Cops (Viewers: 5.92 million; A18-49: 1.9/ 7) and America’s Most Wanted (Viewers: 6.43 million; A18-49: 2.1/ 7).
NBC finished third overall with its repeat combination of an hour-long episode of The Office (Viewers: #4, 2.97 million; A18-49: #4, 1.0/ 4), Chuck (Viewers: #3, 3.96 million; A18-49: #3, 1.3/ 4), and Law & Order: SVU (Viewers: #2, 5.88 million; A18-49: #2, 1.9/ 6). And Saturday Night Football on ABC was last with just 4.12 million viewers and a 1.3/ 4 in the demo from 8-11 p.m. And, there you have it. That’s pathetic little Saturday!
There's a thing i really don't get. Why in US the saturday is a dead day for the networks, while in many european countries is the day in which the most important entertainment show is aired?
The ratings are terrible for all shows. It's even worse for FOX who is airing originals and can't get better ratings than a football game that would appeal mostly to a specific region.
I tell you they should just recycle the best nights of each network, from classic television for their Saturday ngiht programming:
CBS could air a mix of schedules from their Saturday lineup of the 70's, or Sunday lineup from the late 70's, early 80's.
ABC could air Charlies Angels reruns along with Love Boat, and either Fantasy Island or Hart to Hart.
NBC, could air reruns of Different Strokes, Facts of life, Gimme a Break, Golden Girls, or any of those other hits of the 80's along with Hunter or say LA Law or Hill Street Blues
FOX could stay with what they have... then we could talk about ratings on Saturday night again.
i think the office would've been alot higher if office fans knew it was coming on. I didnt know untill it came on, i was like "WHAT THE! YES!!" i was expecting heroes, which is also a great show.

It's mostly because the American networks have bought into the idea that Saturdays are dead. Look at the shares in adults 18-49. The nets combined for a 7.4/23. That means that the total possible share out there was 32.1/100. On Friday, the they combined for a 7.7/26. The total possible was 29.6/100. On Thursday, it was 15.6/41 out of 38.0/100. So... The overall audience in 18-49s was 15% less on Saturday and 21% on Friday than on Thursday. That's not that great a difference, but to the networks, there "is nobody home." It's BS.
IDK, is that such a bad rating for CBS? They out did ABC in the demo. The ABC game was a blowout while the SEC game on CBS was thriller, so that may explain part of that. Still, given everything else that 2.7 doesn't seem to bad at all. Anybody get info on the 18-34 or 18-49 male demos numbers from last night could you post it. I'm sure it's not great, but beter than standerd?
They could put both on MNTV and make room for two new shows. Both Cops/AMW is aging and not going to make any dent in the ratings.

Balloting, and choosing to participate in the game, closes after the first official back nine, early renewal announcement.
Spotupj provided some interesting historical context on the first renewals of last season, where the season started one week earlier than this year.
Oct 6 - Heroes (NBC) Oct 12 - Jericho (CBS) Oct 13 - Ugly Betty (ABC) Oct 16 - Brothers & Sisters (ABC) Oct 20 (tie) - Shark (CBS), The Game (CW)
Given production schedules and such, I would expect the first renewal announcements will be made late next week as the Nielsens drift in for next weeks episodes, and an other wave of renewals as the LIVE +3 and commercial rating data is released by A.C. Nielsen.
And what is Fox going to put on Saturday that will do better? K-Ville? Ya right. Cops and AMW are extremely cheap to produce and make money for the network. Plus, both typically win the night in the demo and total viewers.

They won't do that beacause they don't have 2 shows as cheap as these 2 that could bring similar numbers
It's not winning in viewers now. They could easily develop a cheap slate of shows to replace it. The reason why it's even in contention is the fact that networks don't program. If they ever did, you would see the numbers for Cops/AMW drop considerably. It might be competitive in it's time slot due to no competition, but it's far from a winner for FOX.
