----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS led this third Thursday in November, with a first-place finish in both total viewers and adults 18-49. Second was ABC, with NBC and Fox sharing the No. 3 spot.

CBS’ Survivor: Samoa, one of the best editions of the veteran franchise in my humble opinion, led the 8 p.m. hour with 12.31 million viewers and a 3.8 rating/11 share among adults 18-49. Net was Fox’s underrated Bones (Viewers: 9.85 million: A18-49: 2.7/ 8), which works well no matter where it is positioned, followed by ABC’s FlashForward (Viewers: #3, 8.01 million; A18-49: #3, 2.4/ 7), struggling NBC sitcoms Community (Viewers: #4, 5.06 million; A18-49: #4, 2.0/ 6) and Parks and Recreation (Viewers: #4, 4.61 million; A18-49: #4, 2.0/ 6) and The Vampire Diaries on The CW (Viewers: #5, 3.72 million; A18-49: #5, 1.7/ 5).

CBS’ veteran CSI and Grey’s Anatomy on ABC shared leadership in the 9 p.m. hour as follows:

CSI (CBS)
Viewers: 14.95 million (#1), A18-49: 3.6/ 9 (#2)

Grey’s Anatomy (ABC)
Viewers: 13.96 million (#2), A18-49: 5.0/13 (#1)

Also airing from 9-10 p.m. was NBC’s The Office (Viewers: #3, 7.43 million; A18-49: #2, 3.7/ 9) and 30 Rock (Viewers: #3, 5.86 million; A18-49: #3, 2.9/ 7), Fox’s Fringe (Viewers: #4, 5.89 million; A18-49: #4, 2.0/ 5) and Supernatural on The CW (Viewers: #5, 2.74 million; A18-49: #5, 1.3/ 3).

At 10 p.m., honors fell in CBS’ corner, with The Mentalist at a solid 15.79 million viewers and a 3.8/11 among adults 18-49. Comparably, that was the most-watched show of the evening. Second was ABC’s Private Practice (Viewers: 8.99 million; A18-49: 3.2/ 9), followed NBC’s failing The Jay Leno Show at 4.82 million viewers and a 1.6/ 5 in the demo.

Too bad that Supernatural was pre-empted in Miami *sigh* TVD actually too, according to TVbythenumbers.

Last year there was talk about how great FRINGE was for FOX...when all evidence pointed it to being a time slot hit. There is beyond all shadow of a doubt that it was.

JAY LENO..wiill it ever do above 5 million again?

Laura's comeuppance on SURVIVOR was classic given her stunned reaction and those around her who could not understand that someone would flip rathe than take a chance of pulling out the PROD-Purple Rock of Doom.

Also I find FLASH FORWARD continual drop upsetting. It sad when a network tries to come up with some INNOVATIVE programmingn like FLASH FORWARD and V and then you see the the numbers continue to go down as viewers bleed off because they can't be bothered to follow a continuing story and would rather tune in to see the some NCIS cops doing the same story week after week or the BONES team field yet another similar case or worse watch some weight challenged person try and take off a few pounds on national TV...that's entertainment? Give me FLASHFORWARD or V anyday!

Here’s a question if anyone would like to speculate.

Given the factors of UN-cancelling TRAUMA and the HUGE worldwide Box Office SUCCESS of the movie 2012

Do you think NBC will rethink their plans to convert DAY ONE into just a miniseries?

It seems like they would want to take advantage of the similar scenario of 2012 since the official 2012 series has a long way to go before it’s a reality and DAY ONE is already in place.

I would much rather see DAY ONE than a reheated PARENTHOOD which will have as much chance to succeed as another twenty year old move turned series…EASTWICK.

Wow, The Mentalist is now beating PP in the demos. I think this is the second time this happened, and they beat it by 7 million this time.

Wow, as a big Mentalist fan, I am very happy.

I have to wonder how much longer ABC will keep Flash Forward on Thursdays. It's falling every week and by March will be around a 2.0 demo if the track record holds. This show needs to be moved.

I think that will happen soon, definately by Fall of 2010. CSI and The Mentalist are ready to be switched.

It is a much less entertaining show this season, in the most competitive timeslot in all of television. I don't care about the ratings--my worry was that it would run too long, and turn into a mockery of itself, and sadly, it already has. Frowner

BETTER ep last night, but I still couldn't tear myself away from The Office. Recyclops!

SPN will likely shake out comparably to last week's ratings in the finals, around 2.6 million and change. Women 18-34 was up to a 1.6. That's higher than Melrose Place's female demo. Supernatural will be fine, curious. Last night's episode sure hit hard, didn't it? Jo and Ellen went out like true soldiers, not damsels in distress. I appreciated that.

The Mentalist has really rebounded and it looks like the crossover only boosted CSI: NY which probably wasn't what the producers of CSI wanted. Vampire Diaries was a bit down but we could blame New Moon for that while Bones is still solid.

I think the switch with CSI is happening sooner than later.

I don't think a change in timeslot is going to matter. It did just fine up against the same competition to open the season, but clearly people have grown tired of it. Moving it to another night is not going to cause people to come back to it and no new people will tune in to a show having missed the first 8 or 10 episodes and not having a clue whats going on.

I think abc should consider moving flash forward to another night. It is not the hit that they were hoping for. They have their work cut out for them and lots of holes to fill. But I still feel that they are the only network to be taking chances and that is exactly what we need. I applaud them for not taking the easy road like cbs and cloning their entire sched. to be one big NCIS/CSI/NY/LA joke.

I loved the way those two went out, like real heroes! I cried buckets but it was amazing! And I'm curious what Death looks like. Have you seen the promo for January's ep? I can't wait Smiler

May I ask where you've seen the female demo? All I visit is this forum and TVbythenumbers.

It doesn't seem to me like CSI is even trying anymore. Last night's episode was okay, but nothing memorable. The Trilogy/crossover was their only rating's ploy for sweeps; it did well last week, but, clearly, it is not having any long term impact on the ratings. Lawrence Fishburne is not the face of CSI, and the producers need to accept that and move on.

I agree that the move to 10pm is probably in CSI's future, more likely next season.
