There is not a show out there that doesn't cause joy for some and pain for others when the numbers are low. It's the nature of any message board.

Season Four has been great.
Completely, 100% agree. Watching Lost is fun again.
LOST was sooooo good last night!! I guessed Sayid's "employer" though. Still, the plot twists just keep coming, and we're finally getting a sense about the island too!!
Also, Eli Stone was excellent again! After a sub-par week 2 episode, it came back with a vengeance last night. It was at least as good as the series premiere, and perhaps slightly better! I hope its ratings reflect that.
I also gotta say I'm glad I stuck around and didn't quit on Eli Stone after last week's episode -- this week more than made up for it. And finally, Natasha Henstridge's character had some depth this week! I was starting to think she was only going to be a pretty face.

Here we go with excuses. I actually think Lost and ES will remain at last week levels
I don't think V-day traditionally has a significant effect on viewership. I agree with robert for once -- I think LOST and Eli will be stable at last week's levels.
Darn it, it seems I was wrong about Eli Stone -- not enough people stuck around to see last night's great episode. I hope it stabilizes now, and at least continues to win the demo over WAT. At least it's beating Lipstick Jungle. Also, no idea why Fox pre-empted its now strong Thursday lineup in a sweeps month to air the always horrificly low-rated NAACP Image awards. Seriously, sometimes I think that every network scheduling chief has had a lobotomy...

Prime-Time Metered Market Thursday Ratings: CBS Wins, Survivor Loses Steam, Lipstick Jungle a Bust
Note: The fast affiliate results for Thursday will be posted at PIFeedback by 12 p.m. ET. Go to the website, click on Ratings Box (the first category), then Last Night’s Results, and Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008.
----------
-Yesterday’s Winners: Survivor: Micronesia (CBS), Deal or No Deal (NBC), Lost (ABC), CSI R (CBS), Without a Trace R (CBS)
-Fading Fast: Smallville (CW)
-Yesterday’s Losers: The 39th Annual NAACP Image Awards (Fox), Lipstick Jungle (NBC), Eli Stone (ABC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: Despite two-thirds of its schedule in repeats, CBS managed to win this third Thursday of the February 2008 sweeps in the overnights. And the Eye net’s Survivor: Micronesia led the 8 p.m. hour, with a 7.6 rating/12 share. But comparably that only managed to beat NBC’s competing Deal or No Deal (7.5/12) by one-tenth of a rating point, and the year-ago edition set in Fiji averaged a healthier 9.2/14. Deal or No Deal, in fact, led the 8:30 p.m. half-hour in the overnights. Take a look at the break down:
Deal or No Deal (NBC) 8:00 p.m. 6.8/11 (#2) 8:30 p.m. 8.1/13 (#1)
Also at 8 p.m. was a repeat of ABC’s Lost (#3, 4.4/ 7), which features ongoing text commentary at the bottom of the screen, The 39th Annual NAACP Image Awards on Fox (3.3/ 5 from 8-10 p.m.) and the CW’s Smallville (2.8/ 4). Compared to the year-ago evening, this original edition of Smallville dipped by a hefty 26 percent in the overnights (3.8/ 6 to 2.8/ 4). If the CW was in better shape, Smallville would probably conclude this spring.
ABC’s very confusing Lost won the 9 p.m. hour, with an 8.2/13 in the overnights. Second was a repeat of CBS’ CSI (7.4/12), followed by NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice (6.2/10), the second half of the aforementioned 39th Annual NAACP Image Awards on Fox (3.5/ 5), and the CW’s Supernatural (2.1/ 3), which maintained 75 percent of its Smallville lead-in. As for Celebrity Apprentice, no matter how obnoxious Piers Morgan is (and he is indeed no bargain), fame seeker Omarosa is considerably worse.
First at 10 p.m. was a repeat of CBS’ Without a Trace (6.8/11), followed by NBC’s Eli Stone (5.3/10) and week two of NBC Sex and the City-wannabe Lipstick Jungle (4.3/ 7). Compared to one week earlier (5.9/10 on Feb. 7), Lipstick Jungle was down by a considerable 27 percent. Eli Stone also continues to look steam as follows:
Eli Stone (ABC) Jan. 31: 7.9/12 Feb. 7: 6.4/10 Feb. 14: 5.3/10
Retention for Lipstick Jungle out of Celebrity Apprentice was 69 percent; while Eli Stone out of Lost was 64 percent.

I wish they would give it an ep or to on Tuesday at 10 behind Dancing sometime next month. If it does horrible, then end it after this year. If it does BL type numbers, then consider it for perhaps midseason or Fridays next year.

I agree mushu -- ABC doesn't have anything to lose by trying that. Their Tuesday lineup is pulling in pathetic numbers, and BL is about to go into reruns. Even with DWTS: Results show, they still need to program for 2 more hours. Try it out after Dancing and see how it does. If it does BL-type numbers, like you said, it should get a chance to return, perhaps on Tuesdays or Fridays, or as a midseason replacement. I have a feeling the Dancing viewers will be more open to it than LOST viewers, who run straight to their computer to discuss the episode they just saw and all their theories...
Yeah, there's a lot of people saying that over at ABC right now.

Doesn't matter. It's already too low in the ratings to survive. And it's going lower.

Yeah, people are probably saying that a lot over at ABC right now--and over at NBC, people are saying "At least we had better retention out of the lead-in than Eli Stone."

PROGRAMMING chiefs, maybe. Development chiefs.
Why do the people who handle scheduling and promotion have to take all the heat for crap shows performing crappily?
Good retention for Supernatural out of Smallville. Eli Stone isn't going to catch on.. ABC needs a good serialised show behind Lost. Invasion held up pretty well for the first half of it's run, but ratings began to dip when it had it's slow period. Towards the end things picked up, but it was too late. Lipstick Jungle is dead.
