FOX Holds Commanding Lead After Two Weeks of the 2008 February Sweep:
After two weeks of the February Sweep, FOX holds a commanding lead over the other networks in all key measures. The mammoth FOX lead over its rivals has been fueled by the enormous, record-breaking Super Bowl numbers, the powerhouse American Idol numbers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and reliable ratings strength on every other night.
In nightly wins for the young audience A18-49 demo that advertisers crave to place commercials within, FOX has the most nightly wins having beaten the other networks on nine out of 14 nights so far (one tie), followed by NBC with three nightly wins (one tie also). FOX's 8.64 average in the young demo is more than the five-network combined average of 8.52.
After two weeks, ABC holds a narrowing 0.17 advantage over NBC for second place in the A18-49 demo, while NBC in turn is only 0.07 ahead of CBS in fourth. However, CBS has a firm grip on second place in households and viewership.
After two weeks, FOX is at roughly double what its numbers were last year. MyNetworkTV is also showing significant double-digit year-over-year upward movement. All the remaining networks are showing significant double-digit year-over-year slippage, with NBC showing the least year-over-year slippage (-18% in demo, -15% in households, and -14% in viewers) while CBS, who were last year's Super Bowl broadcaster, is faring worst (-64% in demo, -51% in households, -14% in viewers) due to its large proportion of encore programming as a result of the writers strike.
After two weeks, the six networks are showing smaller-than-expected (given the strike) year-over-year erosion: the young adult demo down by -10%, households are down by -9% on a year-over-year basis, while viewership is down by -7% year-over-year.

I've spotted the next edition of the BBC/Channel 4 House series (1900s House, Manor House, Regency House, 1940s House) as being Coal House set in Wales about a century ago. Can you tell me if it has aired in the UK yet?
Also, when does PBS plan to show it?

Frontier House was back in 2002. It had three interesting familes. I think one broke up after production and the Clunes went from that tiny cabin to their big McMansion in CA and with the mother saying "I don't see my kids anymore"
I'm wondering if PBS will finally break from the past and not schedule it in May when the Commercial Networks are going through Sweeps.

* The Big Bang Theory * Cold Case * Criminal Minds * CSI * CSI: Miami * CSI: NY * Ghost Whisperer * NCIS * Numbers * Two and A Half Men * Without A Trace In conjunction with: 1 cycle of The Amazing Race and 2 cycles of Survivor
CBS is now doing enhanced episodes of Ghost Whisperer and CSI Miami???? I can understand Lost - it's a complex series that viewers can easily fall behind on. But CSI Miami?? Really?
Lost's popups were kind of snarky (at least for the repeat of last season's finale). I'd love to see the same for CSI Miami just because the series is SO bad and David Caruso is such a terrible actor, it'd be a ball if they went the ironic route.
ANTM has been an amazingly consistent performer for the UPN and CW. It reminds me a lot of Survivor in that respect - the first two seasons garnered a lot of interest and elevated viewership numbers, then in subsequent seasons ratings settled down a bit and it became a ratings warhorse. But even Survivor in 2008 is certainly not the Survivor of 2002 and ratings are on a slow, unstoppable decline. ANTM is likely to go the same route. Neither are in any danger, but their peak is obviously behind them.
I see so many of you talking about lead ins. I don't think that "lead in" help a show or not. I for one watch my show and then turn the TV off. Take for example tonight Lost is on, I'm not going to watch the show after that because it doesn't look very appealing to me. Is there some scientific evidence show that a lead in will help a show or not? I would guess that most people are like me. I also don't sit around and watch TV all night, every night like some of you do either and I would guess that average people do the same. No wonder why some Americans are fat and lazy; they sit around and watch TV all night.
There was a study that says that Suggests Nielsen Meter Data Does Not Reflect Typical TV Viewer http://www.mediavillage.com/jmr/2005/10/25/jmr-10-25-05/ This study was done 2 years ago. I am one that is not convinced of Nielsen and that a new system/s should be put in place.

I'm guessing one of the comedies and one of the dramas may not return next year. In the case of the comedy, that may also be Christine. It could be two sitcoms but I still think they'll try a new night of comedies. Moonlight to me is probably the safer of the two dramas because it is more than likely cheap to produce (at least compared to Shark).

Ooo, the Unit is also left off the list. Another sign of its potential dismissal this spring? We'll find out!

Not giving up on The Unit .. The Unit could be moved to a new night and get stronger ratings and demos ! Right now I'll be happy at least seeing season 3 finish and then see how it all goes !!
