It's a drama about a team of everyday people with advanced neurological abnormalities who work for a secret government agency. It refers to the section in US military code that discharges a military member for reason of being mentally unfit for service -- think along the lines of Heroes. It has a minimum 6 episode order, but if it's picked up it will get at least 13 episodes.
ABC's "Supernanny" (3.5/9 in 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall) was a solid No. 2 in the hour, building by about 80% on its lead-in and pulling to within 4 shares of "Moment of Truth" for the 18-49 lead at 9:30.

Supernanny pulled a minor miracle last night -- they should change the show's name to The Miracle Worker!
I turned it on around 8:45 and they were bringing out the woman to play with 13 cases. (Didn't see how the firefighter did with 12 million dollar cases) When I flipped back around 8:55 she had JUST picked her case so I assume they will pick up from there next time. I've heard this is as far as it will go and I guess they'll keep 13 til someone wins?
Like most contestants now, the Firefighter guy toughed it out to the point of each round going to only one case getting opened. They also gave each Briefcase babe a shirtless Fireman to pose with (my Step-Daughter appreciated that).
The Firefighter got up to $277,000 but started picking $1,000,000 cases left and right (he should have listened to his sister, who was better at picking the lower values). Finally, he got down to 4 cases with only one $1,000,000 case and an offer of $99,000. He took the deal and it was revealed that his case held $10,000 so he felt better.
New Gal comes in from Minnesota with her family. She works with Terminally Ill kids (aww!) and has a few funny tics. Her husband is there, who has a fear of heights. However, she also called the banker fake, and Howie handed her the phone, so she knows the show and is sufficiently entertaining.
So they have a platform that he's harnessed to, and with every $1 million briefcase she picks, they're going to raise it another level off the ground. With the first 6 picks, she picks 4 low values and two $1 million cases. So hubbie in a harness is up 2 levels. She's now got an offer of $275,000 I think which she's "No Dealed".
To be continued Monday (and Wednesday too, apparently)

Sounds interesting. I'll have to keep a look out for that.
Definitely! Coupled with LOST and Life on Mars, it would give ABC a great 1-2-3 punch!
Yes and what happens when Lost runs out of episodes in February? Does ABC turn the hour over to another new show? Because that happened last year on Wednesday and look where Show Me the Money, Daybreak, and the Nine are now...

mushu, did I say that it would have to be in the Fall? I envision this as a Jan 09 lineup, but Life on Mars and Section 8 can premiere in the Fall on the same night, with Pushing Daisies as the lead-in show. I thought we had this conversation already in the other thread...
Not to mention LOST didn't run out of episodes last year. It came back with 16 back to back episodes. And as far as the future goes, Lost will be returning mid seasons with a 16 episode back to back order. Given the strike, this season will only have 13 or so episodes while the other 3 episodes will be added to season 5 and or 6.

oooh, and brand-new news that ABC family has picked up The Middleman, another show that blends supernatural and detective/police elements. Middleman, from writer-producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost), stars Natalie Morales as a 20-something struggling artist recruited by a secret agency to fight comic-book-type villains. Matt Keeslar plays the title character, a superhero who serves as her guide.
It will be interesting to see how all the sci-fi/government shows compare. ABC has Section 8, NBC has The Fringe, and CBS has Eleventh Hour (does Fox have a similar one, just for uniformity?). The all have different elements, so it will be more like...L&O vs. CSI than Cashmere Mafia vs. Lipstick Jungle.

I think it's about time -- ABC's focus on Cashmere Mafia-type shows was getting really tiresome. These new shows sound great, and you're right, they all have different angles, so it's not like we'll be watching the same show 10 different times.
Wow! The timing of this is so funny -- we were just talking about how tv keeps copying each other's ideas, with Cashmere Mafia vs Lipstick Jungle, Supernanny vs Nanny 911. Now this announcement by CBS is just so blatantly stealing LOST's idea, it's laughable!
But speaking of LOST and "enhanced reruns", remember that the 8pm rerun tonight of last week's show is supposed to be enhanced, and I definitely need the enhancement this week to make sense of the plot twists from last week's mind-blowing episode.

Most likely they will all flop, like CM/LJ/BS. And even Heroes declined this year, so it is surprising to see this sudden interest in Heroes or X-Files wannabes. Then again, maybe master con artist JJ Abrams can pull it off one more time.

Or some will succeed and some will fail, depending on the quality of the show...
