All five networks aired reality shows at 8:00 last night. Does anyone know the last time something like that has happened? It's not surprising that all the shows appeared to perform below average.

MetsFan: Do most people count Deal as a reality show? Confused

Fortunately for BB, AI moves to 9 in March. Still, not such a great idea to have eviction night opposite AI.

Ouch at CBS. BB did a bit better than the overnights showed, but still not good. Idol moving to 9 in a few weeks *should* help it some(Moment of Truth is no Idol) I'm really shocked at how well Supernanny did and how poor CM did though.

Fitting ratings for a truly worthless season. I mean, the show is exactly one day old before they evict 2 people. Are we supposed to care about them when they were barely even around for 24 hours? The 14 who are left are just a bunch of wannabe actors who are clearly reading off teleprompters (most of whom you can't tell apart). I mean, this thing has always been partially-scripted, but I don't think there was one moment in any part of "Big Brother After Dark" last night that felt the least bit real. The only part that was even resonant was when the flaming guy who's always crying said they were just filling space until the strike ended, and that they'd get bounced off the air early if the strike were to end. Truer words...

As for "Supernanny," ya can't kill that thing with a stick!

As for Josiah from "American Idol," however, I would certainly like to try.

"Better Off Ted," Wednesdays at some time or another at some point or another in the near future. Because we can't all live in mansions and not ever work like the people on "Modern Family."

I don't know what really qualifies as a "reality" show anymore. I consider American Idol more of a talent/variety show, but it's always lumped into the reality category.

Why would ABC anchor Wednesday on a declining show in its 5th season, with only 16 episodes. PP has more potential.

Because PP's potential would be easier realized if it followed Dancing with the Stars on Mondays, as follows:

Mondays (Sep - Nov, Mar-May):
8:00 DWTS(90 minutes)
9:30 Samantha Who?
10:00 Private Practice new day/time (would keep Dancing and SW's viewers and strong demo)

Mondays (in Jan - mid-Mar):
8:00 The Bachelor
9:00 Samantha Who?
9:30 Literary Superstar new show
10:00 Private Practice

And as for LOST being a declining show, I know you're just trying to pick a fight, because many have gone over the fact that LOST is actually up year to year. LOST's 16 million can anchor a night much better than Private Practice's 10 million, and PP can jump up to 15-16 million if it made a move to Mondays, which would create a rock solid Monday lineup for ABC, and LOST would anchor a younger-skewing Wednesday lineup.

Wednesdays
8:00 Life on Mars new show ( you've seen the BBC version you know this is a great show, and it should be a great companion to LOST)
9:00 LOST (back to its original day and most successful time, allows ABC to anchor another night -- should have 16-18 new episodes for 2008-09
10:00 Section 8 (my favorite new show/pilot)

Take a guess how many episodes this lady with 13 cases plays for? 3-count 'em-3 episodes. She started on Wednesday, she plays on Monday, and finishes her game the next episode.

The only time a contestant has ever lasted 3 shows is for syndicated Millionaire, and that's a half hour with trivia questions which takes time.

It kinda took away from the value of the $1M win with the Mission. They are basically handing it over.

You might want to look at the NBC press website.....especially the description for the 2/20 episode...

not a lot of traffic here today.

Is this BB go around shorter than most? There are only 8 team and one evicted up front. That leaves only 4 evictions until the final three. Unless of course, they then start playing as single players.

I assume half way through it will be everyone for themselves but extra money could be awarded or something like that if your soul mate stays in the house.

Except Lost won't have 16 millions next year, it won't even stay at that level this year with the strike and next to no competition.

Why not put Lost on Wednesday at 10pm, and DSM after GA? PP is definitely not a 10pm show, unlike Lost.

The only reason I would use Lost as a 9pm Wed. anchor is because it can handle the Death Star and Criminal Minds. PP may not be able to handle that. Perhaps a Wed. lineup in the fall with Lost returning at midseason to fill any potential weak spots.

What is Section 8? I've looked it up but come across a video game of that name that is suppose to be coming out in 2009.

Lost is not a 10pm show. It's a 8pm/9pm show. Like it or not, it's a family show and the demos outside of 18-49 were the ones responsible for the majority of the ratings losses last season.

People aren't watching Lost right now simply because "there's nothing else on." It's not a show that people come in and out of; never has been, never will be. I believe that ratings will stay in the 15 million range this season (there will be a drop at 10pm, but the difference will be made up in Live+7).

And PP has potential? Have you read any of the reviews for this show? I don't think it's had one single positive review. And at 10-11 million viewers, it's not exactly gangbusters to begin with.

As for Wife Swap, it did as well as to be expected against AI. WS and SN always do relatively well when paired together. Both are cheap to make and are essentially money in the bank for ABC.

It's a drama about a team of everyday people with advanced neurological abnormalities who work for a secret government agency. It refers to the section in US military code that discharges a military member for reason of being mentally unfit for service -- think along the lines of Heroes. It has a minimum 6 episode order, but if it's picked up it will get at least 13 episodes.

Idol's average will jump in the finals, there were FOUR MINUTES of overrun (hence Moment of Truth falling from a 6.8 in the demo to a 5.5 at 9:30pm).

Lackluster night for the other networks.
