CBS opened the evening on a disappointing note, with should-be-addictive The Big Bang Theory at just 7.51 million viewers (#4) and a 2.9/ 8 among adults 18-49 (#2) at 8 p.m.
I suspect that the viewing public is waking up to the fact that it takes too much suspension of disbelief that the hot chick would EVER be friends with the dweebs...kind of like how the idea of CAVEMEN living in the modern world was too much to accept... And hey isn't SAMANTHA WHO actually UP from last week? It's a great program.

She won't care. Whether Reaper gets higher ratings than Gossip Girl (and it usually does) is irrelevant to her. Reaper doesn't score well in the teen female and 18-34 female demo. In Dawn's eyes, that's why Gossip Girl is such a hit. It's all she cares about. The girly girl teeny demo.
Hey dude, they need, like, Zac Effron from High School Musical and Jesse McCartney. They're so cute and dreamy they make me quiver. That'd bring those perky little teeny boppers bouncing to their TV screens.

Big Bang Theory is starting to lose its appeal, at least for me. I liked the first few episodes I watched but now it's starting to get old and some of the characters are becoming annoying. But maybe it will rebound.

Well, you know, this can be an indication the viewers finally realized BBT is no more than your run of the mill old school unsophisticated sitcom with less than original subject matter that had been done to death before and even less impressive performances.
I realized that from the pilot and guess what? I was thrilled to see an "old school unsophisticated sitcom" finally. I was tired of all the "new type" of sitcoms that bored most of the americans to death

I'm sure if you put BBT on after 2 1/2 Men, the viewing public would go back to sleep again and tune in. quote: Originally posted by A.C.: quote: Originally posted by Marc Berman: Prime-Time Ratings: Monday 4/21/08

Reaper - The Musical sounds like the answer to CW's issues. quote: Originally posted by galveston: quote: Originally posted by xwiseguyx: Perhaps they can snag Miley Cyrus for a guest appearance on the show. quote: Originally posted by galveston: quote: Originally posted by ray: l want reaper to come back tonight and get at least 2.80 mil viewers so that they can look at Ostroff and say Yeah Now What

I agree with that. I just wish CBS would learn that it is too much for a freshman show to be in that 8:00 lead off spot. It was doing fine at 8:30, and I bet it would do well there again. I am not saying that it can never be a lead off show, but to ask for it to be a lead off show against that competition in daylight savings time, no less, is just too much to ask for a new show.

There were a few sneak up on you funny moments last night (such as the lecture on the 'AA' team name followed by the revelation of their own team's anacronym), but there was some really weak stuff, too. Everything with the female neighbor last night was bland. The writer's even knew how forced it was to have her asking trivia questions, so they admitted it in the dialog. Then, at the end we are (I guess) supposed to laugh at the geeks for not knowing the kind of trivia people excel in around here? Seems to me that the actual joke was on the audience, but we are simply oblivious to our own patheticness, just as they were oblivious to the 'PMS'.

So what you're really saying is that you prefer laugh tracks, sub par writing, predictable jokes and stereotypes for characters over dynamic camera movements (rather than a musty sound stage and one camera), sophisticated writing, talented actors and true satire? Well, all you need to do is go to the nearest blockbuster and check out their 80s sitcom shelves.

Both shows are doing better than last years numbers. For a freshman comedy, BBT is doing very well in the leadoff spot against very tough competition.
I agree. Stick Samantha Who there or Miss Guided or any other freshman show and they probably wouldn't do much better. I know they don't need comedies, but if Fox cancels Til Death or Back to You, it would provide an opportunity for CBS to launch a new 2 hour comedy block somewhere (Sundays ring a bell). Both B2Y and Til Death could fill an hour along with HIMYM and Christine and you would have a night.
If B2Y and DEATH get cancelled I'm thinking that FOX will but the just renewed TERMINATOR on WED at 8PM to avoid competing with fellow hardcore sci fi show HEROES at 9PM Mondays.

And of course having all those hot doctors bonding with the patients in an hospital is "very real"

More imprtant than the demo, Reaper is not produced inhouse while Gossip Girl is. That is the real difference, despite whatever spin is put on the renewal reasons. In any case, I still expect Reaper to be renewed now that Smackdown is leaving. CW needs to hold on to whatever programming they can to fill the time.

Exactly that's what i ment, thank you. And you're also rigt, i still watch a lot of 80's and 90' "stupid" sitcoms like Marrie with Children, Friends, Cheers. You know stupid sitcoms like these But you know what? These are the sitcoms poeple love here in US but also all around the world. So i'm happy

Both Til Death and Back 2 You will get another 13 in the fall. FOX isn't going to launch new comedies without having some established comedies on roster.
