From medialife: quote: “Give” did fall off from its first to its second half hour, going from a 5.5 to a 5.1 at 9:30 p.m., and slipping from 16.3 million total viewers to 14.8 million.
But the reality show, in which Winfrey gave participants money to help others, will rank among the top five new series debuts this season in adults 18-49 and total viewers.
So it looks like there was some slip in both viewers and demo, but not significant to be worrysome -- I'm sure a lot of people tuned in due to the hype, but I expect the numbers to stay around 15 million and 5.0 for future episodes as well.

Why is the animation block's numbers down NOW (after New Years), with less competition, than it was going up against Sunday night Football? It does not make sense.
Do people know they are new or do a lot of people just assume they are on repeats like all the other fall shows?

Probably same reason Brothers & Sisters had been down in the last few weeks -- not enough viewers knew that new episodes were back on...

Mmmm...I think you're being a bit too optimistic. I have a hard time seeing this show holding a FIVE in the demo next wek, let alone out in the future. 10-12m viewers and a low 4 is probably more realistic IMO.

I wonder how many knew EHC and AIA were new, especially since it was a Sunday. Those are horrible numbers for an original programming

And I am getting increasingly sick of NASCAR screwing up FOX's Sunday night schedule.
Well they are back to the East Coast next week. I believe next weeks race, in Atlanta, starts at 2:00 EST.

And I think you're being too pessimistic -- there's no reason to expect such a dramatic drop-off, when the same lead-in, lead-out, and competition, will be around next week. In fact, I'm not even sure if DOND will be on NBC next week, so it could be even less competition.

It does not make sense.
If you air enough bad episodes in a row, people will eventually stop watching.

Perhaps AiA should be promoted on Nickalodeon, bcause thats about the level of funny & qulaity it is. Now, thats not bad, but not good either. If they could get those kid viewers of Ned, iCarly, Zoey101, etc... they might be able to get 2-3 million viewers for the show.

I passed on NEWLYWEDS when I saw the promos for it and the featured question was "How many times should a couple have sex in a week"
Thanks but no thanks...I'm tired of the Networks thinking all the viewers they are trying to lure are hormonal 12 year olds just titilated at the mention of sex. Yeah, Sex is great but its reached a saturation-overkill level on TV at this point.
BIG BROTHER must be planning some sort of shakeup because its only just now March and they've already burned through most of the couples. They need to go back to the old format of playing for yourself to stretch this out. Allison continues to be HOT...and Josh continues to be a disgrace to gays everywhere that he's pretending to represent.
I forgot OPRAH was on or I might have taped it.
COLD CASE is currently the best show on any network on Sunday evenings.

Well to clarify, I think the 10-12m/low 4 demo will end up being the average throughout it's whole run...I'm not suggesting we'll see a 30-40% drop next week alone, but I think the show will gradually decline in ratings as it progresses.

That Nascar overrun seemingly wreaked havoc on Fox's numbers. King of the Hill beating both Simpsons and Family Guy in the demo? That never happens. And Unhitched getting pushed into the 10pm hour couldn't have helped it, but that's definitely not a good start for that show.
ABC a winner from 8pm on, IMO. Dexter's holding up week to week and remains an improvement on what Shark reruns would do, at least in the demo, but is not a long-term option for CBS.
With the Million Dollar Mission over, NBC needs to slow down on Deal or No Deal.

Aliens in America is a WHOLE lot funnier and higher quality that the new Adventures of Old Christine or Welcome to the Captain. If Aliens in America was on CBS Monday night, it would be getting viewership on par with Big Bang Theory. Instead, simply because it is on CW, peiople won't sample it.

That's what I'm talking about AC -- that was possibly the worst way to advertise this show. It was quite fresher than that lame portion indicates...

How about a happy medium (median?)of 13-14? It's very unlikely that it will maintain almost all of it's premiere audience like Chimera hopes (how many new shows don't drop after the premiere?). On the other hand, it would take at least a few weeks to drop 1/3 of the premiere audience (given similar lead-ins and competition).
