-Adults 18-49: ABC: 2.7 rating/8 share, NBC: 2.5/ 7, CBS and Fox: 1.6/ 5 each, CW: 0.4/ 1
----------
-Yesterday’s Winners: NCIS R (CBS), Wipeout (ABC), America’s Got Talent (NBC), Primetime: The Last Lecture: A Celebration of Life (ABC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: It was a Tuesday of mixed leadership, with NBC the most-watched network and ABC No. 1 among coveted adults 18-49. ABC opened the evening on a winning note, care of summer hit Wipeout at 9.66 million viewers and a 3.5 rating/11 share among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. Too bad the remainder of ABC’s new non-scripted summer entries are not performing similarly.
Also in the 8 p.m. hour was a repeat of CBS’ NCIS (Viewers: #2, 8.51 million; A18-49: #4, 1.4/ 5), the season (or series) finale of NBC’s Celebrity Family Feud (Viewers: #3, 7.51 million; A18-49: #2, 2.0/ 6), a repeat of Fox’s Kitchen Nightmares (Viewers: #4, 3.53 million; A18-49: #3, 1.5/ 5), and a repeat of axed Beauty and the Geek on the CW (Viewers: #5, 1.18 million; A18-49: #5, 0.4/ 1). As for Celebrity Family Feud, nice job on the hosting, Al Roker.
NBC moved into the winner’s circle at 9 p.m., with America’s Got Talent at a healthy 13.61 million viewers and a 3.6/10 among adults 18-49. Comparably, that built by a hefty 5.97 million viewers and 80 percent in the demo over the second half of lead-in Celebrity Family Feud (Viewers: 7.64 million; A18-49: 2.0/ 6 at 8:30 p.m.). Also in the time period was CBS’ Big Brother 10 (Viewers: #2, 6.20 million; A18-49: #3, 2.2/ 6), ABC’s I Survived a Japanese Game Show (Viewers: #3, 5.82 million; A18-49: #2, 2.3/ 6), a repeat of Fox’s House (Viewers: #4, 5.21 million; A18-49: #4, 1.7/ 5), and a repeat of the CW’s Reaper (Viewers: #5, 1.26 million; A18-49: #4, 0.4/ 1). Someone forgot to tell the CW that the networks are trying to aggressively program on a year-round basis.
ABC’s Primetime: The Last Lecture: A Celebration of Life, which focused on Carnegie Mellon University computer scientist Randy Pausch, won the 10 p.m. hour, with 7.62 million viewers and a 2.4/ 7 among adults 18-49. Comparably, that built from the second half of lead-in I Survived a Japanese Game Show (Viewers: 5.53 million; A18-49: 2.2/ 6 at 9:30 p.m.) by 2.09 million viewers and nine percent in the demo Second in the time period was a repeat of NBC’s Law & Order: SVU (Viewers: 7.42 million; A18-49: 2.0/ 6), followed by a repeat of CBS’ Without a Trace at 5.33 million viewers and a 1.2/ 4 in the demo. The battle of Without a Trace versus Law & Order: SVU in originals should be interesting this fall. While SVU is likely to dominate among adults 18-49, keep an eye on Without a Trace in total viewers (and don’t expect too much from ABC’s competing Eli Stone).
Can we get the half-hour breakdown for Japanese Game Show, America's Got Talent, and Big Brother 10? I'm interested to see what happened in the 9:30 half-hour...
and Big Brother is bringing Back the America's Player twist again- fortunately, it's only for a week, and the audience decides who the player will be...

I'm not an expert, but I doubt NBC would cancel a show with these ratings.

FOX Still Out Front in A18-49 for 2008 July Sweep; CBS Tops in Viewers & Households
FOX maintained its hold on first in A18-49 where it averages a 2.0 in A18-49, followed by NBC in second with 1.6, CBS and ABC tied for third with 1.5, The CW fifth with 0.6, and MyNetworkTV last with a 0.3 average. Year-over-year, all the six networks are showing A18-49 declines from last July, and overall, A18-49 is down 10% across the six nets from last July. In households, which overall are down by 4% from last July, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and MyNetworkTV are all down only 1% to 3% from the same as last summer, while The CW is having a rough summer in households where its numbers have fallen off the most by 20%.

The data for last night is based on FAST National numbers, whereas previous nights this this year and last years comparative numbers are based upon final Nielsen numbers.
Nota Bene. This year's Sweep includes the low-HUT Fourth of July whereas last year's Sweep started on July 5th and did not include the Fourth of July.
ISAJGS is still a terrible retention out of Wipeout.
Wipeout and ABC's Primetime are definately the big winners. Really good numbers for Primetime.
As for the L&O:SVU, Eli Stone, Without A Trace battle, L&O will win in both the households and the demos. Without A Trace is floundering in its new timeslot. The repeat numbers are just plain bad and some of the lowest for dramas. The numbers it earned after CSI were based on it being a good fit with CSI and garnered casual viewers more than dedicated viewers that would watch it in a new timeslot. It isn't a stand alone show like NCIS, Criminal Minds, even CSI NY. It addition, it will have to pick up the numbers The Mentalist is sure to lose going after NCIS. It wouldn't surprise me to see Without A Trace struggle to get 10 million and a 3 in the demo and be next on the drama cancellation line after The Unit. I'm thinking with Without A Trace, you are going to get Shark like skews. What gives L&O:SVU the advantage is that it is a stand alone show. There is no tie in between AGT and L&O: SVU and yet it is repeating very well. That being said, the best procedural on NBC is Life and its a shame that it is getting dumped on Fridays.
Wipeout at 9.66 million viewers and a 3.5 rating/11 share among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m.
Just two words.... BIG BALLS

How does AGT keep doing numbers like that? NBC would absolutely kill for numbers like that in the regular season. Maybe they should think about bringing it around maybe in the winter instead of the summer.
I said that last year. They could make it a Fall-Only series (Avoiding Idol) and use Wednesdays for AGT.

I think the best thing they've done this season is to NOT show all sorts of talentless dorks who really were looking for their quick shot on national TV, no matter how humiliating, and instead spend most of the show on the honestly talented individuals that are taking a chance. They don't all go on, but I find watching the talented a lot more fun than watching the fools. I think it's a lot of fun this year, and is finding some amazing acts.
