The good news is that with Cashmere Mafia bombing, the likelyhood of Big Shots getting renewed skyrockets. Right now, CM is lucky to finish up what was filmed. Crowned needs to be tabled. Unless CW is trying to see if they go lower than CW Now's ratings, there is no point of airing it. Oh and to answer Marc's question, the promos of Lipstick Jungle are horrible. We have a shirtless model, some generic office shot, and the three laughing that people think they screwed their way to the top. No mention of plot or what it really is about. How is this supposed to work? It'll tank just as hard as Cashmere Mafia if they don't get a better promo push fast.

If the strike is settled by the end of February, it is probable that May Sweeps could see original episodes... with a possibility that some shows could bang four episodes for the period. Given Lost's production time and special effects work needed to be done, I don't think a full non-stop sixteen episode season is possible. However, what might be done is for the show to go on a small break after the eight episodes are done (maybe a month) and then show the next eight ending in late June. That's wishful thinking, I think.

I know that most half hours will need about 3 weeks to a month to get fresh episodes to air.

Crew members who work on to two mainstream, fan-favorite TV shows tell me they were informed this week that it is "extremely unlikely" they will be producing any more episodes this season whether the strike ended soon or not. According to one below-the-line crew member: "We were told that even if the strike ends soon, we won't be doing any more episodes until next season, because it just won’t work." (These sources requested that their shows not be named.) http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?...ac-a24c-944bcd7b3f3eWho could that be? A show that won't get more episodes, but would get a new season? Lost? Prison Break? Moonlight?

My guess would be 'Lost'. If they can't do the second half of the season, they won't do a few more episodes. And, I don't think Travis' idea about Lost finishing out of the summer is likely, either. the other big show that might be back next year but wouldn't try to finish this year is '24', IMO.

Moonlight? That show didn't even get a full season order pre-strike. I think Housewives is a show that should go in this column. It finished up pretty decently imo. Same with Heroes and Greys.

Well, no, it really did not. What you are showing is a product of math on your part that takes advantage of the lack of significant digits offered up by Nielsen. The fact that CW had 2 1-hour shows on thursday rather than a single 2-hour show does not lower their demo. Nielsen would report a 0.9 for both networks for the night and CW won the viewer race. quote: and MyNetworkTV did indeed exceed The CW last night in viewers, averaging 1.4 million in the 8-9 pm hour for "Whacked Out Videos", and 1.4 million in the 9-10 pm hour with the "Exposed Pro Wrestling Secrets Revealed" special.
I'll reserve comment until I actually see the finals (viewer and demo), but CW being in repeat mode with Gossip Girl is certainly not going to help them. It plays like an ABC show. quote: So far in 2008, in seven nights of head-to-head competition, it is: - The CW - 4 fifth places
- MyNetworkTV - 3 fifth places
Add in a weekend win for each night of CW Sunday beating MNTV Saturday...and, of course, the CW wins tend to be a whole lot bigger. Friday alone CW had 4 times the number of MNTV (and CW beat out ABC in the demo that night) and on Thursday they were twice MNTV. Trying to compare 5th place finishes looks much like an attempt to hide the real data by showing a much more arbitrary data set. Besides, you and I both know that they didn't finish in 5th place. Univision holds down that slot.

This is the first I have heard about the WGA demanding the right to hold sympathy strikes. How could they have possibly expected to get that ok'ed when the other deals (DGA/SAG) were set to expire? If the WGA takes Reality TV and sympathy strike demands off the table, I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to proceed towards an end to the strike very soon.

Sympathy strikes are a ridiculous demand. Nobody would ever give them that.

I read that too and thought, the WGA negotiating team must be insane. There was no way the AMPTP would okay the sympathy strike. I agree. I think we will be seeing this strike end soon and I think one of those reasons is the Oscars coming up. Peace!!

Neither show is returning. The shows that benefit from this show tanking are Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, and Dirty Sexy Money, all of which are more likely to return. Ditto for Men in Trees, which if it hits 7 million, will likely get at least another 13. I also think the likes of Wife Swap and Supernanny, which do very well away from Idol, will get renewed. Women's Murder Club as well because it pulls CBS-like audiences away from the eye on Fridays. All other returning shows will be back save for Jim, Notes, and October Road, which are goners. We may end up with Primetime getting a fall spot too.
