they could use the same studio used for the daytime version. the writers should not be a problem since the daytime version was not impacted

Plus the costs of getting the studio set back up etc. Also, I think the question writers for that show were wga so that might be an issue. Yes, once upon a time we covered game shows - so they renamed them reality shows because that term wasn't in the contract.
2 - I'm not sure what I'm supposed to sign up for, but it sounds as if Marc existence depends on it - so I'll try. I also have an extra kidney if he needs it
You're right vlis. Even with Regis pulling that much its still way cheaper than say Greys Anatomy or a failed drama (cough Cashmere Mafia cough).

From what I understand, all the shows for the daytime version are pretty much taped in advance over a two to three week period a couple times a year. They may have produced all this season's syndicated episodes prior to the strike.
Absolutely -- if they can afford to guarantee a $1.4 million payoff for Duel which got 7 million viewers, if they can afford to pay millions for each extreme home makeover, if the can afford to pay $5 million or more for marginal dramas, they can afford to pay Regis $250 thousand.

Don't you remember? x gave Marc his kidney in exchange for a promise not to label Viva Laughlin a loser.

Isn't anyone else just sick of this show already. I watched about 20 minutes on Tuesday. It was just boring. Of course, I've never been a huge fan but I just think the novelty has worn off.
What a bargain. Marc should have asked for a lung as well.

I didn't mean to imply it would be cheaper than scripted, It's just that a Super Millionaire wouldn not be a ratings sure thing, and even if it was its money wasted (band aid) because it would be of no long term help. They would do better to try another reality idea that could have legs after the strike.

The key will be whether there are any good singers this year. After last year, one has to wonder if they've found all the good singers.

I can almost guarantee that Super Millionaire come February would be a top 5 show on ABC. To do that, one would only need about 8.5 million viewers.
