Wife Swap will actually get away from Idol in March. I bet it recovers some then. Top Model doesn't seem like it will hurt their more family friendly audience. Idol, however, certainly does.

With the limited number of originals that they have, might CBS have been better off saving Comanche Moon for February sweeps?
Originally posted by a-mad: This is just an observation... and I know there is a glut of gameshows right now, but ABC had some luck a few years ago by re-purposing "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" into a one-week stunt called "Super Millionaire." The ratings weren't obviously at original-Millionaire levels... but enough time had passed that the stunt worked quite well from a ratings perspective.
I would think that this would be the perfect time to re-introduce something like this again. They could certainly get bigger ratings for this running at, say, 9pm every night than they would with their current slate of shows...
I and several others have proposed this many times on this forum. Unless ABC no longer has the rights, for the life of me I can't figure out why they are not bringing it back, either in its original version (which would still work) or with the Supermillionaire twist (which would also work). If they can go through all the trouble to get the rights back for The Mole and bring it back, they surely can do that for Millionaire. The fact that they have not done so is one of the most perplexing decisions ABC has made -- and that's saying a lot!
Hey, ABC, bring back Who Wants to be a Millionaire!

And count me as one of those people who think that ABC will move "Cashmere Mafia" before all of the new episodes run out. There always Boston Legal's slot.
<ducks>
Do you mean once Boston Legal has aired all its episodes because ABC has been very very reluctant to move BL and I don't see it happening anytime soon. Its the only thing pulling any audience at all. If the morons in charge used their brains for once, they could realize that Primetime has always paired well with BL including last winter and then Jim and Carpoolers could be sent to die at 8pm against the Death Star. I have to say, I am surprised however at how far Jim has fallen. Last year's numbers were only about 1 million higher but when it was away from Idol it was pulling around 7 million. Still, I'll always go back to the fact that ABC has not developed the right sitcoms for its audience time and time again.

I agree and like DOND, it could take on Idol and most likely turn out okay. The only issue is a host. Vierra is certainly not able to do a primetime edition (although considering how the Today show has lost quite a bit of audience since she's come perhaps she may be available in a few years). Regis is supposedly signed to some CBS gameshow, but perhaps ABC could still get him.

Good Lord, you mean the number from this site who have registered so far is less than 10? Get cracking, people! It's the least that we can do for Marc!
It needs to be with Regis as the host. That's what made it so special, and different from, say, Duel.

1 - A super millionaire would just be a band aid, and it wouldn't be that cheap if Regis is still pulling 250,000 an episode. Plus the costs of getting the studio set back up etc. Also, I think the question writers for that show were wga so that might be an issue. Yes, once upon a time we covered game shows - so they renamed them reality shows because that term wasn't in the contract.
2 - I'm not sure what I'm supposed to sign up for, but it sounds as if Marc existence depends on it - so I'll try. I also have an extra kidney if he needs it
