Prime-Time Ratings:
Monday 1/14/08

The following results are based on the fast affiliate ratings (Live Plus Same Day data)

-Total Viewers:
NBC: 11.73 million, CBS: 10.82, Fox: 8.98, ABC: 7.67, CW: 1.59

-Adults 18-49:
NBC: 4.3 rating/11 share, Fox: 3.8/ 9, CBS: 3.5/ 9, ABC: 2.4/ 6, CW: 0.7/ 2

----------

Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.

----------

-Yesterday’s Winners:
American Gladiators (NBC), Deal or No Deal (NBC), Two and a Half Men R (CBS), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Fox), CSI: Miami (CBS)

-Honorable Mention:
Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann (ABC)

-Yesterday’s Losers (Excluding Repeats):
Notes From the Underbelly (ABC), October Road (ABC)

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
NBC led the troops on this second Monday of January with its combination of American Gladiators (Viewers: #1, 10.66 million; A18-49: #1, 4.6 rating/12 share), which has just been renewed for a second season, Deal or No Deal (Viewers: #1, 15.00 million; A18-49: #1, 5.0/12) and Medium (Viewers: #2, 9.54 million; A18-49: #2, 3.3/ 9), which continues to take a backseat to CBS’ CSI: Miami. Overall, Deal or No Deal was the most-watched show of the evening.

CBS was second overall in total viewers and third among adults 18-49 with its line-up of repeats of How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #4, 7.34 million; A18-49: #3, 2.7/ 7), The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #3, 8.16 million; A18-49: #3, 3.2/ 8), Two and a Half Men (Viewers: #2, 11.49 million; A18-49: #3, 3.8/ 9) and Rules of Engagement (Viewers: #2, 8.52 million; A18-49: #3, 2.7/ 6) from 8-10 p.m., and an original installment of aforementioned CSI: Miami (Viewers: #1, 14.70 million; A18-49: #1, 4.2/11 at 10 p.m.).

In time period-premiere news, Fox drama Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles got off to a positive start, with 10.07 million viewers (#2) and a 4.3/10 among adults 18-49 (#2) from 9-10 p.m. While this may pale in comparison to its preview just one day earlier (Viewers: 18.36 million; A18-49: 7.7/18 on Jan. 13 out of the Giants/Cowboys NFL match-up), it did build from lead-in Prison Break (Viewers: #4, 7.89 million; A18-49: #2, 3.4/ 8 at 8 p.m.) by 2.18 million viewers and 26 percent among adults 18-49.

Over at ABC, week two of ABC’s Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann held up with a respectable 10.50 million viewers (#2) and a 2.9/ 7 (#4) among adults 18-49 from 8-9:30 p.m. But lead-outs Notes From the Underbelly (Viewers: #4, 4.75 million; A18-49: #4, 1.7/ 4) and October Road (Viewers; #3, 4.89 million; A18-49: #3, 2.0/ 5) quickly faded from 9:30-11 p.m.

Last, and very least (how many times can I keep saying this?) were repeats of CW sitcoms Everybody Hates Chris (Viewers: 2.04 million; A18-49: 0.9/ 2), Aliens in America (Viewers: 1.31 million; A18-49: 0.5/ 1), Girlfriends (Viewers: 1.32 million; A18-49: 0.6/ 1) and The Game (Viewers: 1.67 million; A18-49: 0.7/ 2).

Well the overnights painted another picture.

AG and PB look much better while SCC looks even worse. A 8 million loss in a day is a disaster.

Deal or no Deal is surprisingly strong, and makes the last episodes of Heroes look bad in comparison. That is bad news for the strike. And it is even worse for AG versus Chuck.

I didn't even notice how great DOND did. NBC must be very happy with the strike

If that's the best SCC can do now, after Sunday night's hugely hyped premiere with the ludicrously large lead-in, when it's up against repeats, Deal or No Deal, and Notes from the Underbelly--do I even need to say it?

FOX will bring it back once the strike is over, the other nets will bring the heavy artillery to bear, and it's terminated, f***er.

I agree OR should be labeled a loser, but what an awful lead-in to have!

I'm glad to see Prison Break beat Dance Wars in the demo.

SCC - compared to yesterday - looks terrible... but if it can maintain those #s in future weeks, FOX will be happy.

Deal or no Deal seems to have grown over the last month or so. Medium didn't have great retention.

AG looks to be a solid demo performer.

I'm still liking the good terminator, but I'm not liking how quickly/completely they are violating the 'rules'...even the ones they set up in the first TV episode.
What rules are they breaking?

Definitely not the "TV remakes of popular movie franchises always suck" rule.

This show has the most wide ranging ratings I have ever seen. It can have one show get 8.5 million and a 1.9 demo, then another, like last night, get 15 million and a 5 demo.

I agree. Why did Dance War have such an overwhelming advantage on overnight households but actually fall behind AG in fast nationals? Are more individuals watching Dance War on their own while larger gatherings are watching AG?

Roll Eyes

It can't, and FOX won't.

Yeah, I've noticed that--and here's another weird thing--there are hardly any first-run episodes of scripted shows being run against it over the last month. What's up with that?

The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #3, 8.16 million; A18-49: #3, 3.2/ 8),

If that number holds colse, it will be the highest rated airing since the series went into repeats in Mid-November.

Welcome to the Captain will have to perform well to achieve these REPEAT numbers BBT is getting.

I fear for Boston Legal tonight. Jim/Carpoolers lead-in and up against new SVU and part 2 of CBS's mini-series that scored well Sunday night. ABC should save the new eps. for later this season. It's going to get clobbered tonight I fear. Lead-in dependent or not...the way ABC has performed the last few days, I'm sure many viewers won't know it's new.
