American Idol is back on the rise. There are 5 really amazing guys this year in David Archuleta, Michael Johns, David Cooke, Robbie Carrico, and Jason Castro. Everyone else was a disaster. And for the 4 guys (not named Jason Castro) that we never saw before, I think after last night we found out why (no personalities, and they cant sing).
I have fond memories of David Archuleta from the Arsenio Hall version of Star Search which I enjoyed a lot more than American Idol. (He won I believe) If you want to see a clip of him at age 12 on Star Search go here.
I'm surprised CBS didn't try to bring back Star Search back as Strike replacement programming. May not have been a hit, but may not have done too bad either.
In the first season, Star Search did well. In its second season, it was moved to Saturday. Translation: the audience wasn't home.
I hopwe that the repeat strength of Reaper translates into higher ratings when the originals return. Reaper is a good show and deserves a look from all those 'too good to watch CW' types.
I certainly do not think I am too good to watch CW.
That being said, it is undeniably true that CW is not good enough to be watched by me.
There's a vital distinction there.
And I've watched enough of Reaper to know it sucks.

huh?
I think Marc left out the word 'until'. The statement should have read: The numbers are not bad enough for CBS to pull Jericho UNTIL after the 7 episodes
I know what he meant. My point was that how is
quote:
Jericho at an equally disappointing 5.94 million viewers (#3) and a 2.0/ 5 in the demo
not bad enough? If and ABC or NBC gets 5.94 million viewers according to Marc the show is ready to be canceled. But 5.94 million for a CBS show is not bad enough to be canceled.
But don't most early episodes of BB usually do so-so, then pick up steam as the season progresses?[QUOTE]Also, in a few weeks, BB won't be competing directly with AI in any of its time slots.

Juvenile? Sheesh...and after I was nice enough not to point out why vlis would be embarrassed by your support of ABC.
By most accounts, including the intended recipient of your "joke", it just wasn't funny -- you had to explain it twice and it still wasn't clear you were making a joke. I wasn't making a judgment about it or you, just trying to explain to TV-aholic, without being crass or explicit, what you were referring to -- "juvenile" made the point just fine.
As far as ABC, I don't think they care about whether I support them or not, but you certainly can't speak for them, and if there's one thing they probably care even less than my support is what you think of my support.
Josiah is no longer on the show because he's not that talented and the only reason there was a "human interest" story is because he lived in his car, alledgedly. Lame.

American idol: in response to the josiah comment earlier. I do not think they could let him in after he bashed the band and kicked them off the stage. I am assuming this band has been with american idol for a while and there is some loyalty. After he acted like that, i do not think the judges really had an option to keep him. You have to have the back of the people you work with.

I agree that BB is underperforming what CBS expected. Not sure of your second comment though. Of all the Networks, CBS has made more RIGHT decisions than the other nets.
..... seems like he gets paid to that. Any further posts (with any substance) would be a bonus for us readers.
... you think he is required to post the numbers on weekends and hollidays? I doubt that very much.
But, of course, we have been over this before and will be again no doubt, since every few weeks you start posting responses that appear to be nothing more these desperate pleas for attention from Marc.
Memo to Marc: please spend some quality time with AL, he seems to need it.
JERICHO - spin it as you will but hallmark of this show's ratings is week to week drops.
THE UNIT - has nothing to do with any of this and has been benched before when net in reruns.
CHIMERA - has been in the forum much longer than a month
SVU - thanks Marc, was simply agreeing with comment on ratings
Bruce, I gotta hand it to you -- you, make more good points per post or per word than any other regular poster. You basically captured 4 pages worth of posts into 4 lines.
And I'd still say that even if you didn't agree with me.

They pretty much contain it to only Saturdays now. CSI:NY did a couple of weeks in the Thursday-8pm slot, in January, to fill in for Survivor. I think that has been pretty much it for them.

I doubt they will cancel it before the 7 episodes are completed. The replacement would just be another crime drama repeat which is already littered all over their schedule.
Are you kidding? They are running crime drama repeats all week long with no episodes left of any of their shows due to the strike.
They are running shows in their regular time slots. The fact that they are repeats are because of the writers strike and the lack of fresh content. (Hello... McFly!)
