Exactly. HIMYM was never shown as 'wasted' after 2&1/2Men since it was only tossed there for a short period of time in rerun. I have no doubt but that HIMYM would perform at RoE levels if put there for a significant period of time in first run, with first run 2&1/2Men as a leadin.

That must be what he meant, though that's not how it's abbreviated: just DST.

But yeah, different circumstances this year -- I think many people will be eager to get new episodes of their favorite series, I don't think we'll see a sharp drop like we did last Spring. And they're not changing the DST this year, are they?

Why would HIMYM have that kind of drop when it doesn't get that much lower numbers than BBT in the lower HUT slot?
I'm not saying it will. But IF it were too, then its a goner.

So, Boston Legal returns in April with 5 new episodes, and it will air following Dancing, right?

Does anyone think the current slide to 7 or so million viewers and a terrible 1.9 in the demo will go up? I doubt, even with Dancing, that BL can ever go back up to 10 million or a 2.5 demo that they had before. So, hmmm..what can we expect?

I actually think it will go right back up to that range -- 10 million viewers, give or take a few hundred thousand, and 2.5 in the demo, give or take 0.2 each week.

I don't agree. I think a lot of shows are never going to return to their pre strike levels.

I agree that a lot of shows will underperform this spring. Remember what DLST did last year.

DLST???

True, a lot of shows underperform in the Spring, but not a lot of shows go from having Carpoolers as a lead-in to having DWTS as a lead-in. BL has a very loyal, if not very demo-friendly, audience, and even though it doesn't rise much higher than 10 million, it also stays fairly stable with DWTS as its lead-in. Going up by 2 - 2.5 million viewers and a half a point in the demo is not too much to expect when the lead-in goes from under 4 million and under 1.5 in the demo to over 20 million and over 5.0 in the demo.

P.S. I have no idea what they meant by DLST -- closest thing is DWTS, but that did well in the Spring...

Well stated.

It will be interesting see, but since they are getting their shows on the air quicker, that have a very good chance.

I wonder if the CBS shows have any chance of returning to their pre-strike levels when originals return. My guess is they don't.

In the past HIMYM didn't always grow out the King of Queens when it aired at 8pm on Mondays. I wouldn't be surprised to see Big Bang pull 8 million range and HIMYM 7 million range.

I don't think it would. I'd say more Christine levels because it really doesn't have a great fit to 2.5 Men if you ask me. Neither does Christine for that matter. Big Bang would be perfect for post-2.5 Men. Rules also fits alright.

I know, that's one of the drawbacks here we can't have a custom avatar...

What happened last year with HIMYM at 8pm and Old Christine at 8:30pm versus DWTS? I seem to remember Old Christine stayed at similar levels as HIMYM or was down (but barely).

Oh, and pisher the Sunday finals are now up Big Grin

I agree that BB is underperforming what CBS expected. Not sure of your second comment though. Of all the Networks, CBS has made more RIGHT decisions than the other nets.

I don't know. Fox recently has given CBS a run for their money and the new Fox spring schedule is just about perfect in my book. CBS on the other hand, has provided stability, but has picked up some real head scratchers lately and also done some really dumb scheduling things (ex: wait until Feb. for new eps of shows like CSI:NY when Criminal Minds is already done- ABC like programming if you ask me). Still, they're miles ahead of ABC and then centuries ahead of the geniuses at NBC and CW.

I think they've at least realized those two are not compatible together. Christine really isn't compatible with anything but Christine. Perhaps another female-fronted comedy is the answer. HIMYM is not really compatible with the other 3 Monday comedies (or a better way of putting it is that its the least compatible of the three). I'd ship those two to Sundays next fall and lead off with either Rules or Big Bang depending on this spring.

I would like it to be moved to Friday's though, that way I think it could attract more fans, and how could it do worse then the current Friday line-up?
I agree Fridays are where Jim belonged all along this season. Jim hour into WMC repeats would surely increase current offerings.
No, AtJ, Cavemen, and then WMC. Wink

NO! No more Cavemen. Jim, Just for Laughs, WMC. I think Just for Laughs is a funny show that probably doesn't belong on a major night of the week or in the regular season.

I agree -- FOX's upcoming schedule looks very strong, and a couple of shows that critics have dismissed stand a better chance in my view. If even a couple of those shows get 10+ million, FOX will truly become formidable next Fall, even without Idol.
