Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.

-Ratings Breakdown: Fox led this typically uneventful Saturday with its perennial combination of Cops (Viewers: #1: 6.27 million; A18-49: #1, 2.3 rating/ 8 share) and America’s Most Wanted (Viewers: #1, 5.98 million; A18-49: #1, 2.1/ 6).
CBS finished second in total viewers and third overall among adults 18-49 with its line-up of a repeat of Shark (Viewers: #2: 4.95 million; A18-49: #4, 0.7/ 2) and back-to-back episodes of 48 Hours Mystery, which averaged 5.82 million viewers and a 1.3/ 4 among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m., building in every half-hour as follows:
ABC aired a repeat of Academy Award winning theatrical Forrest Gump (Viewers: #3, 4.67 million; A18-49: #2, 1.6/ 5 from 8-11 p.m.). And NBC capped off Saturday with a repeat of first episode of reality/competition My Dad is Better Than Your Dad (Viewers: #4, 2.67 million; A18-49: #3, 0.8/ 2) and a repeat of made-for remake Knight Rider (Viewers: 4.79 million; A18-49: 1.4/ 4 from 9-11 p.m.).
FOX Snags Up Another Nightly Win After 24 Days of the 2008 February Sweep:
After 24 days of the February Sweep, FOX snagged another nightly win last night on its way towards a record-breaking first place across all key measures in the February Sweep. The mammoth FOX lead over its rivals has been fueled by the enormous, record-breaking Super Bowl numbers, the powerhouse American Idol numbers, and reliable ratings strength on every other night.
In the young audience A18-49 demo that advertisers crave for ad placement, FOX has the most nightly wins, having beaten the other networks on 16 out of 24 nights so far (FOX has won all three Tuesdays and Wednesdays, all four Fridays and Saturdays, plus lone victories on Thursday and Sunday in the A18-49 demo), followed by NBC with five nightly wins (one NBC win was a tie with FOX).
After 24 days, NBC holds second place in the A18-49 demo with a .12 advantage over third place ABC who are expected to pole-vault back into second tonight courtesy the Academy Awards. In the households and viewership measures, CBS continues to hold on to second place.
After 24 days, the two News Corporation networks FOX and MyNetworkTV are both showing solid double-digit improvement over their numbers from last year. All the remaining networks are showing significant double-digit year-over-year declines, with NBC showing the least year-over-year slippage (-11% in demo and -9% in viewers) while CBS, who were last year's Super Bowl broadcaster, is faring worst (-57% in demo and -49% in viewers) due to its large proportion of encore programming as a result of the writers strike.
After 24 days, the six networks are showing smaller-than-expected (given the combined effect of the writers strike and increased use of DVR's) year-over-year erosion: the young adult demo down by -13% on a year-over-year basis, while viewership is down by -10% year-over-year.

This years and last years numbers are based upon final Nielsen numbers except for Friday and Saturday this year which are based upon FAST National data.
I wonder if prime-time viewership last night would have been higher had the Golden Raspberry (a/k/a "Razzie") Awards been televised live on a broadcast network.
I'm sure some producer out there could turn the "Razzies" into a TV event, with a sarcastic host or hostess (maybe Simon Cowell?) presenting the awards and doing the whole show for laughs.
It seems to me the real problem for TV on Saturday nights these days is that not enough people are home watching TV (the number of people at home on Saturday nights has plungted since the late 1980's), and most who are home are probably watching either DVD's or live telecasts of games involving local professional sports teams.

Lookslike a rain delay in California & the Nascar race, so FOX should have a nice little primetime Bump with extra NASCAR coverage... if it even gets checkered flag.

I have to say that everything Norbit won, should be taken away. That has to be my favorite movie of 2007. (I know that is pretty sad, but it was)
I have to agree, to apoint.
Norbit was not the worse movie from 2007. But it wasn't anything great either. I thought Rasputia was more of a character from the Clumps family. Norbit was pretty annoying.

Yes could be good news for FOX, but what an odd sports day on the Nets. CBS was pretty normal with college BB, but the other three got hit by the unpredictability of sports. ABC's Phoenix/Detroit game was a blowout. NBC's got Tiger in the final, but he won an hour early in a match-play blowout. And finally, FOX had a rain delay where the only thing they seemingly have to talk about is that blasted damn gopher.
BTW, is there any chance someone could find the ratings for the Tennessee/Memphis game?
I would like to see the ratings for that Tennessee/Memphis game. Great game, watched it myself. These high powered basketball games would do wonders on Saturday. Probably pretty easily beat the 4.5 million Forest Gump got.
I really think ABC is in decent position to do something with Saturday if they really wanted to. With NBA and NCAA basketball along with the Wonderful World of Disney, they could probably pretty easily lay stake to the night in the spring.
In the fall they already have the NCAA football game which keeps them afloat. Would anyone happen to have the ratings for college football on ABC this year in a week to week format?

I imagine if ABC wanted to they could broadcast NCAA basketball games on Saturday nights, but with the exception of a game like last nights Tennessee - Memphis game (which is highly unusual), I think they would generally get tiny ratings. College basketball is not close to football in popularity in the regular season.
And as far as ABC broadcasting Saturday night NBA games, they do not have those broadcast rights in the current NBA contract. And I highly doubt they would ever be able to get exclusive games on a Saturday night, as they have on Sunday afternoons. When they have a game on a Sunday afternoon, no other game could be televised at the same time. Saturday nights are such a popular busy night for the NBA, that I really doubt the league with give ABC exclusivity. And even if they ever did get rights I don't think the ratings would be that high anyway.
Looks like the race will be called after about 20 laps and ran on Monday.
