More and more viewers are finding it too difficult to find their remotes and turn it off.

It is very encouraging to see 'Accidentally on Purpose' show some week-over-week growth. It is a most sympatico sitcom partner for 'How I Met Your Mother', and has beaten NBC's young adult favourite 'Heroes' every single week in head-to-head competition.

Sadly, I missed last nights episode due to a DVR problem, but from a few of the comments on this website, it sounds like it was a uproarious thirty minutes enjoyed by all.

'Accidentally on Purpose'...the little sitcom that could, every Monday at 8:30 pm right after 'How I Met Your Mother' across the CBS Television Network.

I think AOP bought itself more time yesterday.

How I Met Your Mother down just .1 from BBT last year.
Accidentally on Purpose down by .9.
Analysis: HIMYM is just as strong of an 8pm show as BBT, while AOP is a goner despite actually being funny these past few weeks.
Thanks for continuing to post this. I think the way Marc is writing up that 8:00 hour is really silly.

Thanks for listening to the podcast and for the info, TVGroupie. I think when shows get older and the core cast chooses not to return it should wind down.

The 5 main actors' contracts were up for re-negotiation at the beginning of this season (7). The 2 actors (Chad Murray and Hilarie Burton) were offered to return to the show, but the actors did not accept the offers.

The show made the decision to continue without those 2 actors and so far, I believe this was a good decision on the part of the network. OTH, though it is down from year-to-year, is currently outperforming (on average) Gossip Girl, 90210, and Melrose Place which all are younger shows with more buzz.

I believe that any audience erosion has more to do with the overall problems at the CW rather than the actual cast changes.

Brothers and Sisters moves to Wednesday - just as the Kitty story reaches a climax to ensure that the audience moves with it.

Actually, I would put Eastwick on after DH and move Brothers and Sisters to Monday night. If Sally Field can't bring in the DWTS audience, then no show will ever do well there. I would find a home for Castle earlier in the night. Perhaps on Wednesday at 8 after Hank is canceled. Although I don't know where that would leave The Middle, which, IMO has been surprisingly good.

Blind item: Fired actor's pink slip hidden in script!

quote:
I get that there’s no easy way to lay someone off, but, come on, this is ridiculous: A male series regular on a one-hour drama — a onetime ratings powerhouse — learned that he was out of a job only after reading his character’s death scene in the script!

According to my mole, the popular and well-respected leading man — who tapes his final scenes this week — was blindsided not just by his ouster, but by the tacky way in which it was handled. “He was hurt that the producers didn’t tell him first,” says the source. “He deserved better.”

The real surprise is that, well, anyone was surprised at all. The actors on said show have long been frustrated by the lack of communication coming from the front office. Still, as the insider points out, “This was low even for them.”

So, who’ll be looking for work starting next week? And what show does he currently star on? Here’s the first of two hints: It’s not — I repeat not — Grey’s Anatomy. Look for that second hint in this week’s Ask Ausiello.

Looks like A&E may finally be trying to make itself look respectable once again. Pilot with Radha Mitchell sounds interesting.

Where it's going to be anyway, eventually. It's a dull show, getting dull ratings.

Castle is barely hanging on with just CSI Miami and Jay Leno for competition, and DWTS as a lead-in. It's dead the moment it leaves that timeslot. And ABC has plenty of warm bodies to replace it with, whether at midseason, or next fall.

ABC's crappy development is rapidly sending it down the same road NBC has already gone.

Would Ted Koppel be willing to do a five night a week 10pm talkshow, you think? Wink

I know, but he's the only ABC-related name that came to mind in this context. And he couldn't UNretire? Not advocating, just saying.

'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy responds to cast being pulled from Macy's parade

quote:
Glee creator Ryan Murphy says he gets why NBC asked Macy’s to pull the cast of his Fox show out of its Thanksgiving Day parade:
“I completely understand NBC’s position, and look forward to seeing a Jay Leno float,”
he told EW.com. Sources said yesterday that NBC asked parade organizers to rescind an offer for the cast of the musical comedy to appear in the annual holiday event, which the network broadcasts. While the parade has featured performers from rival networks’ properties in the past — such as American Idol singers or High School Musical actors — sources said featuring an entire cast would amount to too much promotion.

Still have that weak spot in your heart for Fillion eh? Have you registered at Macy's and picked out a pattern yet? Wink

I honestly think that Castle would do about the same in an earlier time-slot. I know you hate it with the fiery intensity of a thousand exploding suns, but I think Castle has the ability to become a Bones-like player for ABC. Something that they can stick just about anywhere and it will get the same 9 million viewers and low 2s in the demo.

I wish NBC had brought back the Bob Costas show rather than Leno. Now that was a good late-night show. Or Tom Sndder, he was good too.

EDIT: Whoops. Bringing back Tom Snyder would have been a incredible feat indeed.
