The dad is a minor character. The Muslim 'son' has a guest role elsewhere, that does not equate with 'moving on'. I have not heard about the other son 'moving on'. What new project is he doing?

Hasn't Scrubs already been in syndication for several years? Given how few comedies are on the air today, I can understand why ABC would want to keep Scrubs going (certainly more than According to Jim).

Reaper does fine for a new CW show, about as well as the 'hit' GG. It would be really surprising to see it canceled.
AiA on the other hand has horrible ratings now on Sundays, but not much worse than the renewed EHC. But if no new sitcom is on the schedule for next year, EHC will be paired with The Game and AiA canceled.

Ok, clearly you haven't seen a single episode of the show. The "dad" is by no mean a minor character. The only minor character is the daughter. All the other 4 memers of the "family" have more or less the same status

I think Reaper is going to get renewed and be put on Friday nights. With Smackdown moving to MyNetwork, aka the network whose name shall not be spoken, the CW has got two extra hours to fill and probably very little in the pipeline due to writers' strike. And if October Road getting canned, how are we going to know who Sam's dad is?

Sorry, Robert, but you are wrong. Meanwhile, I am still waiting for you to explain where the two sons 'moved on' to.

FOX Clings to First in A18-49, CBS Perseveres as Tops in Households and Viewers After 11 Days of 2008 May Sweep
After 11 days of the 2008 May Sweep, FOX continues to holds a narrow 0.1 A18-49 demo lead over second place ABC, CBS in third and poor NBC, having given up on this Sweep with a Univisionish 1.87 in the young adult demo. In households and viewership, CBS maintains a solid lead with ABC second, FOX third and NBC lagging a poor fourth.
With the exception of MyNetworkTV, all the networks are down year-over-year in A18-49 demo, HUT and viewership, although FOX network's losses are in the single digit range.
Who's faring worst on a year-over-year basis? That would be The CW, with an A18-49 down 24%, and HUT and viewership both down 25%.
Who's faring best when last year is compared to this year? That would be the News Corp.'s plucky, come-from-behind MyNetworkTV, formed from the cast-off WB/UPN affiliates of The CW network merger. Based on the first nine days of numbers, MyNetworkTV is showing impressive year-over-year gains: up 36% in A18-49, up 27% in households and up 38% in viewers. Whereas a year ago, MNT was at about one-third of CW levels, this May it is trending in the better than one-half range.

Only 1 character has moved on to other projects: the dad, who is not in every episode anyway.
I think AiA is still in play, if only because The CW lacks a partner for the already-renewed EHC. A high-school oriented sked of EHC-AiA-teen drama might do well for The CW on Friday to replace the soon-to-be-departing-for-MyNetworkTV WWE Friday Smackdown.
The Game is not as compatable in terms of flow, and its numbers are only marginally better (0.9 vs. 0.7 in A18-49 on Mondays, whereas both are averaging 0.4 in A18-49 on Sundays).

It is repeated about 8 hours a day on Comedy Central so perhaps they have a nice lucrative deal with them. Jim on the other hand, doesn't even have TBS (which would seem like a natural destination) in their cards so that's what makes that deal so strange. These eps are basically going to end up in the fringe time periods like 1am. GLo, on the other hand, has seen its timeslot improve in several markets.
Last night's BROTHERS AND SISTERS would have been an excellent season finale. Can't wait to see it next week!
BTW, the show's season finale is ending a week before sweeps, if I'm not mistaken. It would've made sense if ABC had not burned those 2 episodes in February and saved them for this May sweeps period.
Also with regards to SCRUBS, I think that because the show is already in syndication, the network studios makes even more money by creating more episodes of a show that has already reached syndication (which is why ACCORDING TO JIM keeps haunting us).

ABC had planned a 2 hour Desperate Housewives season finale for the final Sunday of sweeps. If they held back one of the pre-stike shows that aired in February, then B&S would have joined LOST, Ugly Betty, and Grey's Anatomy as series airing their season finales outside of sweeps.
