Don't know what? PD and DSM are both renewed and back for another go. They have to go somewhere on the schedule.

Games, Games, Games and.... More Games

The PI Feedback is becoming a place for games. Games about TV and the ratings.
Here are what we have available going into the May Sweeps.

The Daily Game
Each day we pick one show and you guess how many Total Viewers it will get and it's 18-49 demo rating. Accumulate Medals to see how well you can do with the other players.

The PI Feedback Challenge
This game, you pick 5 shows, one from each network, that you will think will do the best over a 4 week period. Play more games and make a run for the PIFC Cup, a "season" long race for who does best in the PIFC. New Games debut on Thursdays/Fridays of each week.

The PI Feedback Challenge May Sweeps Game
An extention of the PI Feedback Challenge game. For the may Sweeps, there is a new twist. Each day you can best up to 20 Berman Bucks, based on what you think the 18-49 ratings will be for the shows you select. The winner will be the person who has the most Berman Bucks at the end of the May Sweeps.

The 2nd Annual Lemon Awards
Help us celebrate and award the WORST in TV this season. Part 1 voting is now live. Select who you think is the Worse Actor is in a Drama Series. What was the Worse Strike-Filler program? and who will win this years Lifetime Un-Achievement Award?

just for comparrison...this is last years performance via futoncritic for cbs' tuesday

CBS (households: 6.8/11, #3; adults 18-49: 2.8, #2) then won the horse race for second place with new episodes of "NCIS" (households: 8.7/14, #4; adults 18-49: 3.2, #5), "The Unit" (households: 6.2/9, #7; adults 18-49: 3.0, #6) and a repeat of "CSI: NY" (households: 5.4/9, #8; adults 18-49: 2.4, #8).

ncis was down in the ratings a little and up in the demos a little yet "the unit" did about what shark did in the ratings but was at 3.0 demos...big difference.

when did the unit ever get a demo that was that low? in repeats it was getting 1.6-1.9 demos...

new episodes were in the high 2s - low 3s and it faced juggernaut "house"....big difference imo

Don't forget that Shark is apparently having some personality issues on set with James Woods. That might be the difference between renewal and cancellation.

What i mean is is thats it on the losing end.

They could easily put fridays like this...

Friday
8:00pm Pushing Daisies
9:00pm Womens Murder Clud
10:00pm Dirty Sexy Money

Bye-bye WMC. We won't miss ya one bit! Big Grin

I'm shocked that SVU didn't post higher than 12 mil. After all, Robin Williams is still a household name (even if I personally can't stand him!). Despite of his appearance, it was an excellent ep, with wonderful performances by Chris Meloni and the departing Diane Neal.

You're very objective.

So you think that a show like Moonlight should survive although it's getting 7-8 million viewers and a show like WMC that it's getting 8-9 million should be canceled. And let's not forget Moonlight airs sandwiched between two 10 million shows

You're not crowned the king of spins 2008.
Check out the demos. 1.9 for WMC, in the middle of the week. Pretty lame, I'd say. And once again, you're taking things out of context. WMC is measured against BL (which spot it's occupying). As someone else already noted, WMC's performance pretty much guaranteed BL's return. Not to mention Moonlight airs Friday, WMC's numbers were for Tuesday. Apples and oranges. But spin it as much as you like. WMC failed last night, and pretty miserably.

Read carefully what i write. I'm not comparing yesterday's result. I'm comparing what those two shows have done on Fridays. As far as i know ABC has nothing on Fridays so there are plenty of slots for WMC. And please don't compare WMC's numbers with Moonlight's numbers on fridays beacause Moonlight loses on every level. WMC has soundly beaten Moonlight in viewers and it has done similar numbers in demos although WMC does not have a 10 million lead-in. I understand why you're promoting the cancelation of WMC. You hope Moonlight won't be beaten if it returns next year.

Get your facts straight. WMC has been beaten by Moonlight consistently - and exactly where it hurts, in the demos.

WMC's performance
See the awful demos? and the fact is, WMC never even topped ABC's ranking for the night, it's just that much of a loser!
Your hatred for Moonlight blinds you. I, however, am not a fan of Reaper, for example, nor am I a fan of BL (in fact, I am known to despise the show). But I can objectively rule that both shows merit renewal in the specific context they're discussed.

One week is enough to judge? They had very similar ratings in Fall, in spite of GG having a much bigger lead-in. Not to mention that GG was already renewed before the OMFG millions spent on promo bumped the ratings of the 'hit' GG by 0.1-0.2 demo above the 'failure' Reaper.

Shark did decent in terms of overall viewers, but man, that demo is terrible.

From Variety:

At CBS, "Shark" (2.2/5 in 18-49, 10.3 million viewers overall) did decently in its first outing behind "NCIS," coming in a tad below what "Big Brother" had been averaging in the slot and ranking third for its hour. But ABC rookie "Women's Murder Club" didn't exactly kill in its tryout at 10 o'clock (projected 1.7/5 in 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall), placing third among the broadcast networks.

I don't understand why Marc keeps on getting on Hell's Kitchen for not retaining a larger chunk of American Idol's audience. I understand it is important for a show to keep its lead-in's audience, and that a good lead-in can boost ratings. It's also good when a show can improve a lot on its lead-in.

However very few if any shows right now (I think) get 20 million or more viewers. So there are very few shows that are going to keep a significant percentage of the idol viewers. So, if a show, on its own could get around 10 - 11 million viewers, or build significantly on its lead-in with those numbers it's a good thing. yet when that same show gets moved after idol and gets 12+ million viewers but only retains about 50% of idol's audience it's now bad for the show?

People may disagree with me and that's fine, but sometimes I don't think it's a good idea to focus too much on the show's lead-in.

ANTM is the only one guaranteed to come back next year. The show is getting long in the tooth, but CW needs it. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see some significant changes in the next season or two (new host or a format change to call in voting) as CW strives to keep their biggest asset going as long as possible.

Reaper deserves a second season based upon the ratings. No, it is not doing as well as Gossip Girl. Demos do matter. Still, Rreaper has more potential to grow than any other show on CW right now.

Aliens in America has very little chance of renewal becasue of the ratings. It is a very funny show, but doesn't fit with the African American shows or with not so funny EHC. Only the 'dad' has a new series for next year that would conflict with renewal. This show still has a chance for a second season, but only because CW has so much space to fill.

Girlfriends was set to conclude at the end of this season anyway, so its slightly early departure this season due to the WGA strike really has no bearing on next year.

If I was trying to salvage a second season of Aliens in America, I would take it out of the family setting (de-emphasize the parents roles...so its OK that Luke got another acting job) but keep the brother, sister and Raja in a high school setting. The episodes set in the high school worked best. Re-shape this sitcom to be more like a half-hour Freaks and Geeks.
