I find this season of BB to be a bit too confusing. I can't keep the couples straight. All those women look the same to me too. except for Sheila because she's the token oldster.
They should have taken a tip from Survivor and added more diversity too their cast (outside of the token swishy gay guys and the one black representative). I've seen a bunch of complaints both on the boards and on Housecalls that they were boycotting because they couldn't even pair Parker up with a black women and break the "token" quota numbers.
The CW is toast -- with them severing ties with Smackdown, and now as Marc calls it their "golden goose" laying an egg in its premiere, they have become irrelevant, and have no game changing shows to turn them around...
Somebody help me. I'm still confused six years later.
What, exactly, is the appeal of American Idol? The person sings...Simon berates them....somebody wins and promptly distances himself/herself as far from American Idol as possible. That's pretty much still the entirety of the American Idol experience, yes? Is there something I missed?
From Yahoo News room - this also should be further evidence that Kville is officially dead (for the 2 holdouts who refused to believe it.) This looks to be a good casting call again!
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Law & Order" veteran Jesse L. Martin is leaving the long-running NBC drama after nine years, and will be replaced by Anthony Anderson .
Martin will film one more episode of the series, in which his character, Detective Ed Green, will be written off, sources said. The actor had signed on to do the first 13 episodes this season with an option for more.
Anderson will play a new detective partnered with Jeremy Sisto's Cyrus Lupo, who joined the revolving lineup this season. Anderson previously appeared as a cop on an episode of the spinoff "Law & Order: SVU."
"Law & Order" continues Anderson's streak of dramatic roles, including FX's "The Shield," Martin Scorsese's "The Departed" and, most recently, Fox's gritty cop drama "K-Ville," for which he landed an Image Award nomination. His feature credits also "Barbershop" and "Hustle & Flow."
I agree that the CW is toast. It hasn't developed one sucessful show of its own. Not one. Even Top Model is starting to falter. Smallville is having its usual spring falter to down in the 3 millions. You can't bleed money like that and survive.
It doesn't matter. If the network survives 2 more seasons so Supernatural can have a fourth and fifth season, I'm good. It's welcome to die after that. It won't be missed.
Why on earth would Tyra Banks be threatened by any of these models. She has already proven herself to be a supermodel, a businesswoman, talk-show host. I don't get how any of these girls would threaten her.

When your viewers vote Heather the top gal 98 weeks in a row, and you toss her off, despite saying that they took the best pictures....as in, last I checked, models were in a picture based industry. Dani and Jaslene couldn't talk their way out of a paper bag, and Saleisha was, as Ms. J said, a commercioal model at best.
The show, based on Tyra's ego, shot itself in the foot.
Last night there were two girls of note. Ashley, or whatever the #1 girl picked was, and Domeneque, who got picked as an after thought.
One of the only two potential models got picked as an afterthought?
Ms. Tyra should check her bank account, and leave her ego at the stage door.

I don't know,i really don't know what's the appeal. I watched the top 12 males (that's the third time i try watching an AI season, the other two times i sytopped after a week) and still find everything very boring. Nothing that catches my attention. Even DWTS which i also think is a bad show is more entertaining than AI

Well I could say that about any show. Whats the deal with Lost, just a bunch of people stuck on an island trying to get off. (I am a fan of Lost btw, just using that as an example) Idol just has something that all other talent type shows lacks, its kind of unexplainable and you just kinda get it or you dont.
Originally posted by Chimera: I'm updating my 2008-09 schedule slightly, based on information on which series will have more episodes this Spring, which will wait until next season, and info on LOST completing as many of its remaining episodes this Spring (and perhaps early Summer) and not pushing back any episodes into Fall. Additionally, I added the new animated show The Goode Family from Mike Judge, creator of King of the Hill, Beavis and Butthead, and one of my all-time favorite movies Office Space. Goode already has a 13-episode order from ABC.
Then I added the most promising pilots/scripts of the upcoming development season, though there are a lot of uncertainties with that process (even more so than usual). Still, I think pilots Life on Mars, Literary Superstar, Section 8, Leap, Boundaries, and Cedric the Entertainer's untitled comedy stand a good chance to be picked up, as should the scripts for Cupid and Damon Wayans' untitled comedy. I also like Limelight, a modern-day Fame about students at a performing-arts school. Its subject matter makes it a natural lead-out of Dancing with the Stars, but with Fall jam-packed with this year's leftovers and other promising pilots, I see Limelight getting a shot following the Spring 09 run of DWTS as a midseason replacement.
So, with that in mind, here's my proposed Fall lineup:
Mondays (Sep - Nov, Mar-May): 8:00 DWTS(90 minutes) 9:30 Samantha Who? 10:00 Private Practice new day/time (would keep Dancing and SW's viewers and strong demo)
Mondays (in Jan - mid-Mar): 8:00 The Bachelor 9:00 Samantha Who? 9:30 Literary Superstar new show 10:00 Private Practice
Tuesdays (Sep - Nov, Mar-May): 8:00 DWTS results 9:00 Women’s Murder Club / Limelight (mid-Mar – May, perfect lead out for DWTS) 10:00 Brothers & Sisters
Tuesdays (in Jan - mid-Mar): 8:00 Dance War/Dance Machine 9:00 Women’s Murder Club 10:00 Brothers & Sisters
Wednesday (Sep –Dec): 8:00 Pushing Daisies 9:00 Life on Mars new show (if you've seen the BBC version you know this is a great show, and it should be a great companion to LOST come January) 10:00 Eli Stone
Wednesday (Jan-May): 8:00 Life on Mars new show (move it up an hour after LOST returns in January) 9:00 LOST (back to its original day and most successful time, allows ABC to anchor another night -- should have 16-18 new episodes for 2009 10:00 Section 8 (my favorite new show/pilot, even though it easily deserves a Fall slot, it can be best launched following LOST in late January)
Creates male and young-demo oriented night that should garner 14-16 million and a 5.0 demo for the night
Thursday: 8:00 Ugly Betty 9:00 Grey's Anatomy 10:00 Cupid (if this is as strong as the Jeremy Piven original, it will succeed here)
Fridays: 8:00 Cedric the Entertainer new sitcom 8:30 Damon Wayans new sitcom 9:00 Women's Murder Club 10:00 20/20
WMC deserves to be renewed -- it has done better in its timeslot than anything else ABC has tried in years.
Saturdays: College Football, other sports
Sundays: 7:00 AFV 8:00 Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 9:00 Oprah’s Big Give/a few 2-hr EM:HE episodes 10:00 Supernanny (always does well in the demo, and with Oprah and EM:HE as lead-ins, this feel-good reality will flourish here, keeping the timeslot warm in the Fall)
The huge success of EM:HE this Winter, especially opposite the Grammys, shows that it can anchor the night for a few months. Oprah’s Big Give will also prove to be a strong success this March, allowing DH to take a breather until January and run straight through till May with no reruns ala LOST, keeping its ratings consistently high and avoiding low rated repeats altogether)
Sundays: 7:00 AFV 8:00 Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 9:00 Desperate Housewives (22 consecutive episodes, including a 2-hr premiere and finale) 10:00 Leap (premiere this Goldie Hawn vehicle after DH and run it straight through to May with no reruns)
Therefore, key additional midseason replacement shows would include: Dirty Sexy Money, Boston Legal, Eli Stone, Wife Swap, Boundaries, and game show Wipeout.
Originally posted by blackfury: I spent some time thinking about FOX and their TV domination. Part of it comes from the fact that there is no dead 10 PM hour and they can allow Idol to cover easily 10-20% of their weekly schedule, when necessary. In the future, the main three could decide to drop that hour. Not sure if it is realistic, but it is certainly a possibility. So, I thought of a new game for this board. How would you re-do a network’s line-up if they could only broadcast from 8-10. Even last place NBC would get some relief from this change! Here is my suggestion for ABC:
Sunday: 7:00-Extreme Makeover; 8:00-Desperate Housewives; 9: B&S Monday: 8:00-Dancing with the Stars; 9:30-Samantha Who Tuesday: 8:00-Dancing with the Stars-Results; 9:00-Boston Legal Wednesday: 8:00-Lost; 9:00-Private Practice Thursday: 8:00-Ugly Betty; 9:00-Grey’s Anatomy Friday: 8:00-Women’s Murder Club; 9:00-20/20
On stand-by: Dirty Sexy Money (replaces DWTS-Results) Pushing Daisies (replaces Lost when it is done or has the Fall lead off spot) Eli Stone (I would give it one more shot; personal choice) Supernanny (replaces DWTS) 2 New Comedy Entries (put in the more promising one between DTWS and SW once the number of dancing contestants drop) 2 Drama Possibilities
Cancelled: Cashmere Mafia (fun show that could be a time period hit, but will not catch on its own) October Road According to Jim Carpoolers Anne Heche show
I think it is fair to say that this schedule would have few, if any, holes with a strong back up of shows to decrease repeats. Interestingly, if FOX were truly dominating they would expand to 10 PM, but I sense that could be the death of them.

True Galveston. Maybe it is just me, but I think the CW did have potential this year, but somehow it really faltered. Then again, relying on crap to help a network grow does not help it either.

I can see why BB is doing so bad. I watch for the drama but for the gameplay drama this is just too highschool for me. What are the chances that the big hats will step in and break up the couples quick fast?
What CBS needs to do for the SUMMER edition is to again use the concept of SINGLE people in the house...but no forced pairings...let people hook up normally with who THEY want to be with but still playing just for themselves.
In season-premiere news, the CW’s golden goose, America’s Next Top Model, got off to a modest start, with 3.80 million viewers (#5) and a 1.9/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#4t) at 8 p.m. Although there should be interest among the target young females, comparatively this was down by 1.1 million viewers and 21 percent in the demo from its fall season-premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 (Viewers: 4.90 million; A18-49: 2.4/ 7).
Developing ANTM for UPN (or at least being in charge of UPN while it was developed) was pretty much Ostroff's sole accomplishment of note, if you want to call it an accomplishment. But even if you do--not such a terribly enduring accomplishment, was it?
It really is past time to fire Ostroff.
And if that doesn't work, it'll be time to CANCEL THE CW.
If 5 years and 10 cycles isn't a sign of endurance, then please enlighten me and tell me what is...
No disrespect to you, and I mean that, but your post just seems like another typical attempt at bashing the CW, which seems to be the norm in these boards.
Why was nobody bagging on L&O's ratings last week, when they were 600K and 0.1 lower against the same competition, with a lead-in that was 1.5 million and 0.6 demo higher?
Supernanny's numbers make one wonder whether it's actually about on equal footing with Wife Swap, but WS has just gotten creamed from having to deal with Idol week after week. That's a really big drop-off for a show that had been picking up big steam against Moment of Truth. Could WS get into 3's territory when Idol moves to 9?
Baffling number for ANTM. I don't know what that network can do.
