Right again and the column mentioned the disaffection of Chicagoans without cable in addition to the out-of-towners disaffected.
Well between FOX and ESPN, you can add at least another dozen games to that total.

Plus, Die-hards will have the MLB Extra innings sports package to catch all the games.

Right,Al. And Tribune writer made a point of saying how his emails reflect dismay from out of town Cub fans who are disturbed about these continuing reductions.

I knew they were going down, but this cut to 63 represents a cut in half from just 10 years ago.
I think part of the reduction is MLB getting tough on the "Superstations" TBS has already backedoff alot on the Braves telecasts in recent seasons. So don't completely blame either WGN or the Cubs for the reduction.

No blame, but there was no mention of that issue in the column.

The Braves offed alot of their games to "Sports South." What is that?

On another issue, did ESPN reduce its regular season load last year?

As expected, after only a couple of weeks of new Lost, CSI repeats beat it in the viewer numbers. The big jump up for WaT should give it a huge victory in viewers and maybe even a demo victory. Was this the repeat of the CSI/WaT crosssover or something? Why did WaT gain so much?

My guess is the crossover eps which got oodles of promotion again during the hours of Big Brother I watched, are the reason for the week to week pickup. Good scheduling move by CBS, but I'm guessing next week that it goes back down a bit. Still, very very solid for CSI. Kudos to Lost and DFTL as well and Supernatural for holding up with a repeat lead in. Should be at about recent averages. Eli Stone and Lipstick were disappointing. Lets hope ES can at least pull a 3.0 demo.

CSI has been up and down during the whole strike re-run bonanza. The last episode aired sucked particularly hard, which is likely why there's such a big jump to the crossover ep (which was the second-highest-rated new ep of the season)

But the overall re-runs have looked like this:

CSI Re-Runs For This Year Since December In Order:

1) Living Doll – 9.l million viewers
2) Dead Doll – 11.25 million viewers
3) Post-Mortem – 10.69
4) Happenstance – 13.25
5) Go to Hell – 14.15
6) The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp – 13.27
7) Cockroaches – 11.69
8) Lying Down With Dogs – 11.84
9) Chick Chop Flick Shop – 10.87

CSI just tends to be fairly strong with repeats in general.

Actually starting this season the Braves will no longer be on Superstation TBS any more. But TBS will have a national package of Sunday afternoon games throughout the season (not Braves games, could be any team).

SportsSouth is a regional sports network (owned by FOX) that operates in the south.

Last year ESPN had games on Sunday night, Monday night, and Wednesday night. I think the only difference from prior years was that they had 1 extra game, which generally aired during a weekday, on per week.

I think they were talking about SN having a rerun lead in (of SN) and not an original episode for lead in.

I hope the finals are ok.

I thought they were doing that, but since I hate the braves so much, I don't pay much attention to them or TBS games.

I guess that also means that Skip Carry will still be doing games on TBS. Roll Eyes

This might not mean much, but the fast affiliate results for SN last night were:

8pm: a repeat of the CW’s Supernatural (#5: 2.0/ 3) in place of the regularly scheduled Smallville.

9pm: another repeat telecast of the CW’s Supernatural (2.3/ 3). (This was a new episode.)

Peace!!

I hate the Braves too; I am a big Mets fan. I never could figure out if I hate the Braves or the Yankees more.

Skip Caray will no longer be doing the games on TBS. It will be Chip Caray and Tony Gwynn, I think. I think Skip Caray will only be doing Braves games on radio.

Fast National ratings for Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008

Three nights of "American Idol" meant three straight ratings wins for FOX, with the last of those coming Thursday.

FOX averaged a 10.3 rating/16 share for the night to beat second-place CBS, 7.7/12, by a comfortable margin. ABC took third with a 5.3/8. NBC's 4.0/6 was good for fourth, and The CW trailed with a 1.8/3.

The adults 18-49 crown also went to FOX, which scored a 6.6 rating in the advertisers' favorite demographic. ABC, 3.4, edged CBS, 3.3, for second. NBC averaged 2.5 and The CW 1.2.

The "American Idol" results show earned a 13.4/21 for FOX at 8 p.m. "Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites," 7.3/11, put CBS in second for the hour. A repeat of last week's "Lost" was third for ABC, topping the 2.9/5 for an hour of "My Name Is Earl" on NBC. The CW aired a "Supernatural" rerun.

In a tight race at 9 p.m., a new "Lost" (7.7/12) led the hour in total viewers (13.5 million) and adults 18-49. FOX's "Don't Forget the Lyrics," 7.2/11, finished second in viewers even though a "CSI" rerun on CBS had a slightly better household rating. "The Celebrity Apprentice" drew a 5.2/8 for NBC, and a new "Supernatural" scored a 2.0/3 for The CW.

CBS took over at 10 p.m. thanks to "Without a Trace," 7.9/13. ABC's "Eli Stone," 4.6/8, beat out NBC's "Lipstick Jungle," 4.0/7, for second.

The CW, to survive, may need to reinvent itself. This 13-21 demo programming is, for the most part, not working at all.

Let the CW become more like USA or TNT or even TBS (go all comedy).
