Holy cheese for Private Practice. Is that a series high? Shame they can't crossover every week. It'll be interesting to see the ratings for a normal episode. Perhaps those who tuned in will like what they see and stick around? I guess only time will tell.

ABC press release:

Private Practice:
The No. 2 TV show of the night to “Grey’s” in the young adult sales demographic, “Private Practice” dominated the 10 o’clock hour, beating the combined performance of its original drama competition (CBS’ “Eleventh Hour” and NBC’s “ER”) by 9% in Adults 18-49 (5.8/15 vs. 5.3/14) and by an even more impressive 60% in Adults 18-34 (5.6/16 vs. 3.510).
· “ Private Practice” registered series’ highs in Adults 18-49 (5.8/15) and Adults 18-34 (5.6/16) for the 2nd week running, while drawing the series’ second-largest-ever Total Viewer audience (14.2 million).
· “Private Practice” produced the best-ever retention for any series telecast to ever follow “Grey’s Anatomy,” retaining 94% in Viewers, 98% in Adults 18-49 and 95% in Adults 18-34.
· In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, “Private Practice” generated ABC’s top numbers with regularly scheduled series programming in the time period in close to 2 years – since 2/22/07.

Hey... why not? It'll be a great 2-hour block for ABC on Thursday nights and it'll create even more ridiculous romantic pairings (or menage-a-trois) between the 2 casts of characters! Maybe there should be a crossover between "Lost" and "Life on Mars" too, especially with all this time travel stuff now! Big Grin

Thursday was a night to survive and some shows are doing great and some shows are doing really bad!

Its been a long time since I've posted picture of the night's ratings stars since some of my readers have requested that I post pictures. I've decided to do a special edition where I'll post the TOP 8 young female stars during the months of February. Most of these actresses will be heard from for a long time.

BlueLick's rising female stars of the month

Shailene Woodley (SLOTAT, ABC FAM, MON), Missy Peregrym (Reaper, CBS/CW, TUE), AnnaLynne McCord (90210, CBS/CW, TUE)
Demi Lovato (Sonny, ABC/DIS, SUN), Lucy Hale (Privileged, CBS/CW, TUE)
Amanda Righetti (TM, CBS, TUE), Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse, FOX, FRI), Olivia Wilde (House, FOX, MON)

Let me start off with America's Most Watched Network CBS since 1998. Survivor is definitely still a strong beast, but its test has yet to come when the showdown between Bones and Survivor starts next week. These two shows will battle at 8pm big time for first and second place in viewers and demos. Survivor might have the overall advantage in the demo, but viewers may switch sometimes as you're going to see Survivor with some series lows throughout the rest of the season. Every network has its own powerhouse reality show scoring over 10 million viewers and doing power numbers in the demo. CBS has Survivor, FOX has Idol, ABC has The Bachelor, and NBC has the fat people favorite Biggest Loser.

CSI: has proven its not going anywhere anytime soon unless the producers want to end it. Grissom was the final test for the series of the decade to show its strength as a series. Fishburne was a great acquisition and he's actually made it more better. I think the other characters now get a chance to get out of Grissom's shadow and that will help it out in the long run. 11th Hour has been a disappointment, but the show still scores well enough to live somewhere else on the schedule next season. I've got a feeling the anticipated Harper's Island work as well as 11th Hour does.

Up next is ABC where we had a dominating two hour performance by medical drama veteran Grey's Anatomy and all the sudden getting hot Private Practice. There are going to be plenty of new medical dramas coming out next season to takeover for ER and may become the new destination for medical genre fans alike. This was the perfect time for PP to come out of GA although it should've been done years ago when GA was really hot hit buzzer. PP is proving as long as you find the right fit and sometimes it takes years for some shows that it can score well. ABC better leave PP right there permanently.

UB is a disgrace and its run is almost over. If it wasn't for syndication there will be no need to bring it back next season. UB was only hot during its first season and that's it. Its gotten old and childish. Let's see it end right now!

The loser in the CSI: vs Grey's battle has been GA for about the last two years now. I knew it!

I completely burned NBC Thursday last week so I won't be talking about it this week. Its the same old shit every week. Low ratings and no laughs except from the axe waiting to cut them off air. Wonder if NBC is going to make an attempt at bring back a traditional sitcom next season?

ER is getting crushed by PP right now with that same audience. ER may need to think about moving, but I'm not sure when the next time PP is running reruns. The best written drama on TV the last two decades running will be missed especially by NBC.

FOX aired the NCAAP Awards and I'm not sure FOX was expecting too much out of it, but it shouldn't had given the night away like that when Bones and Hell's Kitchen was doing well.

The CW hasn't shut down like MyNetworkTV did yet?

The CW Thursday even does better than everyone of their other shows in repeats. The CW should be thanking themselves for having Smallville and Supernatural still.

You can find Supernatural star Jared Padalecki as the male lead on Friday the 13th in theaters everywhere right now.

TONIGHT:
Tonight is one of the bigger Fridays in a longtime at both the theaters and on the small screen. The results from both the box office and ratings report tomorrow should be an interesting one.

Folks you've got your usual helpings of CBS and SD!, but now things get interesting where Dollhouse will make its anticipated debut out of T:SCC living on its last legs. Can Joss Whedon break Dollhouse into the next big Friday Night showcase or destination for core viewers like he did with Buffy and Angel in the late 90s on other nights. Or will it be the next Firefly disappointment for FOX. Let's see it should be interesting. Hopefully Eliza Dushku can carry this show as she is much a bigger star now than she was back in '03 when Tru Calling was out.

There is a lot of worry from Dollhouse fans that Jason being so big tonight in the theaters might be a big threat towards the premiere rating. Not sure about it, but I'll take it into account when I see the ratings tomorrow. I got a chance to see Friday the 13th at midnight last night and the crowd was great making a great atmosphere for the movie. I miss the fans wearing the old hockey masks on the street. The movie's been getting favorable reviews from fans and critics. The movie was definitely one of the best horror remakes of all-time. It definitely lived up to the hype and it was great to see Amanda Righetti act so well in the movie along with Danielle Panabaker. I'm going to see it again with my other friends tomorrow. Wonder how crazy it'll be tonight.

Again, The CW still hasn't shut down its network like MyNetworkTV did?

ABC's powerhouse reality show is actually Dancing with the Stars but yeah... The Bachelor doing very well.

If that's the case, I see "Eleventh Hour" going the route of "Shark" - 2 seasons and out. "Eleventh Hour" is a dreadful show.

Does look interesting. Maybe it combines the element of an ongoing plot, like the reality competition shows, with the genre of crime, which CBS knows all about. However, its finale airs on the Thursday before Independence Day. I doubt that finale will even reach 6 million then but I hope I'm wrong. Hope the show is good.

As for your latter statement... HBO's "The Wire," HBO's "The Sopranos," and ABC's "Lost" are above NBC's "ER" but for the 1990s "ER" definitely the tops.

That awards show does about the same in the ratings each year. Actually, it used to air on Friday nights before last year.

No, because they still have to find more actors to film more "Friday the 13th" and "Halloween" remakes!

And its no surprise that Ugly Betty is getting such shitty ratings because the creators make the show as if the viewers are in 3rd grade. I mean, the show belongs on the Disney channel or Nickelodeon. This is how an episode of UB goes:
1. Betty is assigned a task by Daniel.
2. She screws things up.
3. She tries to cover it up.
4. She learns her lesson.
5. Tells Daniel the truth.
6. She fixes the whole situation.
I mean, this show is for freaking 5 year olds.

Douglas thank you so much for reading as always. I love how you break down my column and throw some honest and funny comments in there. I make these columns for people like you who appreciate them and take the time to read them. You were extremely funny tonight and I'll point out some things from your comments.

Sorry I didn't play the PIFC game, I was too late when I came on here and I really wanted to play tonight b/c I wanted to predict T:SCC and Dollhouse's ratings. I'll make up for it by playing at least twice next week and next Friday. Do you think you can still throw my predictions in there for tonight? If not thanks in advance anyways:

T:SCC
Viewers: 5.10 m
Demo: 2.2

Dollhouse
Viewers: 7.8 m
Demo: 3.1

Eagles#5 is one of my biggest fans, but he didn't requests the pictures, a few other people who haven't registered on this site usually requests them and I read them through e-mail.

Forgot about DWtS, it is their biggest reality show, I can't believe I put The Bachelor over them. Man I feel bad! Frowner Smiler

By Harper's Island being a serial, I'm worried about it, but hopefully it scores for the fans.

Advertising executives definitely still like GA, but CSI: is still stronger.

My burn was nasty!

The Office is the only one that truly deserves to be around, but everything else can tank. Earl is good, but its run has ended.

I still think ER is #1 b/c those shows wouldn't be as good if its wasn't for ER bringing that type of TVMA writing to the forefront. ER was a copy of St. Elsewhere anyways. If were talking before the 90s, there are plenty of shows that would kill these.

I appreciate FOX for putting NCAAP on Thursdays, but Fridays would've did better for htem with this type of awards show. At least it scores way better than The Family Awards did back on The CW. Remember that nightmare?

Horror movies always drop big after the opening weekend. Its all about that opening weekend for F13.

No worry coming from me about Dollhouse b/c I'm not a fan, but I want to support Eliza Dushku.

I love your CW comments on my favorite horror films. Danielle Panabaker unfortunately is light years ahead of most female actresses her age right now and will be a future Oscar winner. Still can't believe Amanda is on The Mentalist and she's only 25. Jared is way better than Tom Cruise.

To me it depends on why they are using the crossover Smiler Thought the CSIs over the years have had some great crossovers. The Las Vegas Crossing Jordan ones were fun and easy combining two harmless shows for fun. But when it's simply to attract viewers like Grey's/Practice then yes I feel cheated. Same way I would feel cheated if some of the Heroes ended up in the emergency room on ER Smiler

The CSI:MIAMI and CSI:NY crossover that introduced the latter may have been NY's best episode, and I'm not trying to be funny.

The ep had an extremely dark, scary feel to it that was never, in my view, duplicated or built upon by the NY series. It raised expectations which were not met in the first year by NY when it did ok but was viewed as somewhat problematic quality wise even by Anthony Zuiker.

At least Miami is somewhat comical in how bad it is. NY just sucks.

CSI Miami has some of the worst acting and writing EVER. Plot holes abound, inconsistencies are everywhere. But it's very pretty to look at, especially in HD. CSI NY is just dark and depressing and makes me want to jump off a bridge from despair at the human condition.

Instead, they used the Coke Classic 'scam' to get rid of sugar and substitute in corn syrup.

You can still find "Old Coke" at some places in SoCal in the form of Mexican Coke (it says "Refresco" on the corner of the label) with sugar instead of corn syrup. It's soooo much better.

If you love Coke sweetened with sugar, stock up during Passover. Grain products are totally verboten then, so Coca-Cola bottlers do a special run of Coke just for Passover that's sweetened with sugar instead of HFCS. The labels still list HFCS, but the bottles (2 liter only) have yellow caps and may have "Kosher for Passover" on them.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just make GA 2 hours long and cancel Private Practice all together?

Not shut down, exactly. More like they're no longer going to function as a distributor of original programming and will be more of a syndicator. So MNTV will be buying packages of existing stuff and bartering to their affiliates in exchange for time. They can't make a go of it as a traditional network. WWE will still be around, but they're getting out of the original programming business and also will no longer be selling time on a national basis. At least, that's what it looks like. I don't think anything's been completely finalized yet.

Donnie,

I so agree with you Ugly Betty is great. I run home to watch it and record every show. I am glad to see it was in top 10 show most watched online from what I read on Daytime Condifential. I think it was like 730,000 plus viewers. I don't see why people are still watching that tired played out Survivor. I also don't see what the hell anyone gets in the DULL and Boring BONES.

Watch UGLY BETTY THURSDAYS 8pm eastern on ABC

It seems everyone complains when they cancel these great shows or shows we love. Hey I got an IDEA trying watching and supporting them. A true fan supports there show thru the good and bad. I mean no matter how much they switch a shows timeslot I continue to watch it. This to me is a TRUE fan.

shakingtarzan,

Betty for 5 year olds

LOL

Why because it is funny, charming and above all else shows characters with heart underneather thick covers or fronts if you will. I personally want a show or two that I can watch and follow easily and and forget my problems. I don't want ever show I watch to make me think or ask at the end What the Hell was it about ?

Survivor
