I can't believe that Survivor is doing so well. And come to think of it, Grey's Anatomy only had 1.28 million more viewers than Survivor! I am sure survivor will definitely be renewed for more seasons...
And its no surprise that Ugly Betty is getting such shitty ratings because the creators make the show as if the viewers are in 3rd grade. I mean, the show belongs on the Disney channel or Nickelodeon. This is how an episode of UB goes:
1. Betty is assigned a task by Daniel.
2. She screws things up.
3. She tries to cover it up.
4. She learns her lesson.
5. Tells Daniel the truth.
6. She fixes the whole situation.
I mean, this show is for freaking 5 year olds.

Coke vs. New Coke was a discussion in another forum just a few days ago (Coke is currently in the process of removing the name 'Classic' from their labels). Many people think that 'Coke Classic' was the old formula being brought back and are unaware that Coke actually never did bring back the same formula. Instead, they used the Coke Classic 'scam' to get rid of sugar and substitute in corn syrup.

You can still find "Old Coke" at some places in SoCal in the form of Mexican Coke (it says "Refresco" on the corner of the label) with sugar instead of corn syrup. It's soooo much better.

Not only is Mexican Coca-cola better-tasting (when it uses sugar instead of corn syrup), but it comes in those classic fluted little glass bottles that were immortalized by Andy Warhol.

However, it is hard to find in most areas, and usually quite a bit more expensive, due to being imported. Well worth the trouble and expense. Of course, it's still bad for you. Wink

Actually I love the innocence of the show and I really enjoy this season. Only thing that bothers me is that there seems to be less over-the-top-humor this season.

As for "The Unusuals", although I enjoyed reading the pilot script, I don't think I would be interested in it, if it wasn't for Amber Tamblyn.

Friday the 13th is a huge franshise, even if it's crappy, people will go see it, at least today, cause it's fun watching it on a Friday the 13th, and before the word of mouth begins, though the word of mouth could be good too. The reviews i've read have been positive. It's been promoted nonstop, and everyone's talking about it. My roomate went to see it at last night's midnight screening and she said there were lots of people wearing masks and fake blood and bikinis and that everybody clapped at the end. You shouldn't underestimate the power of Jason! Big Grin

This is the 12th film in the franchise, and the previous 11 combined grossed over 200 million LESS than the last Batman movie. And the highest-grossing film had Freddie Krueger doing the heavy lifting. There's no character there, and nothing resembling an original idea. It's all in the marketing, and they are marketing this one well. But it won't be as big as you think.

Any Friday night show has to deal with movie openings, anyway. And most movies are geared to younger audiences. There's no dodging that bullet. Or butcher knife. Whatever. Roll Eyes

There is virtually no humor left in the show at all. Mark and Amanda, the two that always carried the show before, are just terrible now. So dramatic. I think the show almost took itself too seriously. I'm glad they're not completely focused on Betty finding love, but this Betty is almost worse.

Agreed! Movie openings will always affect the teen and college age viewer, but I can't see it making more than a tiny dip in the adult audience. I can't think of any adult I know, who wants to go see cheap, crappy remake of an cheap, crappy old movie, and if we did, we would be going on five dollar Tuesday.

I think the movies will probably hurt T:SCC mor than Dollhouse, as Whedon's core audience are mostly in their 30s or older by now. That being said, I'm still not hopefull for the ratings or the show itself. I love Whedon's shows but there is nothing I've heard about Dollhouse that didn't make me roll my eyes or groan. I hope to be proven wrong.

I kind of agree robert. One good storyline would do a lot for the show.

The Lohan storyline was rather funny. Too bad it lasted a couple of episodes. And they really need to drop the stupid "Wilhelmina in love" storyline. BTW where's her baby?

Or just waiting for cable. But in any event, Whedon's fanbase isn't teenagers, or even 20-something's. Maybe back in the Buffy days, but they got older, like everybody else. The audience that showed up for Serenity was mainly well over 30. And wasn't the whole point of Buffy that she wasn't the scantily clad girl running away from the monster or the masked psycho with an axe? She was the scantily clad girl the monsters and psychos were running FROM. Back before they ruined her, anyway.

And I hope for nothing either way. I loved Buffy (first three seasons), I hated Firefly (every last second), and I have no opinion about this show other than "Is Eliza Dushku really the best choice to play a woman who has a different personality every week?"

We shall see.

Actually, I may not, because I've got to walk the dog before Battlestar Galactica comes on.

Nor do I. Ugly Betty needs one more season of episodes for off-network syndication.

Apparently Kosher Coke, normally sold only during Passover is very close to the original recipe because Orthodox Jews do not consume corn based products during Passover. It has a yellow or white cap marked with a circle around the letter U followed by a P, according to Wikipedia.

I'm Canadian, and looking at the label of my bottle of Coke, it says, "sugar/glucose-fructose" so I'm not sure what I'm getting.

{Edit] I just looked it up and the bastards are giving us corn syrup.
