I'm guessing that new Cupid is more like New Coke. I'll sample it, but I'm not expecting it to be as good as the original.

Geez, Knight Rider looks better than Castle.

They are so trying to catch the Mentalist Express, but I'm betting that train has left the station.

Wink

hey lay off of knight rider! Wink

Castle and The Unusuals both look great, but the Unusuals is going to steal the show because of amber tamblyn. Castle looks better than life on mars.

cupid is the one that i can't stomach. only good thing about cupid is that dude from third watch is in it.

cupid is another eli stone, pushing daises, and ugly betty all rolled into one. meaning epic fail!

I guarantee you Life on Mars will remain the best of the three at the end of the day and sadly, all three will likely get canned.

Where as the CBS viewers remember back to the days when the product still had actual cocaine in the formula. Wink

better to have failed epicly than to have never dared to be brilliantly break-through

Either you're watching one of four things:
Getting your ass to the theater to see Jason return on Friday the 13th.

Seeing T:SCC and the highly anticipated Dollhouse with Eliza Dushku.

Seeing Jeff Hardy return on Smackdown!

Or watching Gus on Tuesday the 13th on Psych.

I think Fox shouldn't be premiering Dollhouse tonight, exactly because of Jason! Genre fans will be out in the theaters! I know I will. And who besides genre fans are interested in Dollhouse?

Coke vs. New Coke was a discussion in another forum just a few days ago (Coke is currently in the process of removing the name 'Classic' from their labels). Many people think that 'Coke Classic' was the old formula being brought back and are unaware that Coke actually never did bring back the same formula. Instead, they used the Coke Classic 'scam' to get rid of sugar and substitute in corn syrup.

Sci-Fi and horror are not the same genre, despite what the Sci-Fi channel would have you believe with all their lame monster movies.

My internet is finally back on for over an hour after going out every 10 minutes since yesterday!

Great episode of Survivor last night!
ER was pretty good too.

I expected Survivor to be "Down but far from out," and I expected Marc to not like last night's 30 Rock. I always love the show, but last night's was probably my least favorite episode. I only laughed when the bathroom door swung open. I also felt The Office was below average and one of the most uncomfortable episodes ever, though I enjoyed Angela's cat story line. I haven't seen the GA/PP crossover yet because I was not in the mood for 3 hours of tv last night. How was it?

Well, I'm not sure I buy that the sure-to-be-crappy remake of an already crappy slasher-pic is that much of a threat--I think as with Firefly, Dollhouse is threatened primarily by Dollhouse.

But the reason we use the word 'genre' as shorthand for 'SciFiFantasyHorrorWhatever' is that those forms have been bleeding into each other for a long time now. You see all of them represented at so-called science fiction conventions.

Whedon has probably been more influenced by horror than any other genre--he's even working on a horror movie now (somebody else is directing it). So while Dollhouse has a premise right out of Philip K. Dick, it's going to end up being a mish-mash of different genres, like everything else Whedon does.

He hasn't gotten the mix right in a long time, and I'm seeing some familiar warning signs, but we'll find out soon enough.

Hey, KR's real problem is people who don't even care enough to make fun of it. Personally, I'd go back to watching it if they'd go back to having him sleep with a different hottie every week. Wink

Nothing with Nathan Fillion in it looks good. But anything with Amber Tamblyn in it is worth a look.

I fell hard for the original, mourned it, got over it, and could never watch a copy of it.

Yeah, and but at least those shows aren't remakes. Oh wait, UB is a remake. Never mind.

There's a huge cross audience between those genres, and Friday the 13th will for sure hurt Dollhouse's ratings, i'm predicting they'll be low, and they'd be low anyway without F13. If even Fringe isn't a hit following AI, there's no hope for Dollhouse to be one. But i'm curious to see how it does. And i'll be tivoing it. Wink

Sorry for the O.T. question but any info on the ratings/demos for Burn Notice and The Beast !!
Sorry Beast is doing poorly since it has got very good but know it will not last Frowner
However BN seems to be coming along nicely and hope its ratings/demos stay in an upward swing - now if Carla would be history that would be better yet and a nice WhoDunIt murder mystery surrounding Carla would be awesome too Razzer

Friday the 13th is a huge franshise, even if it's crappy, people will go see it, at least today, cause it's fun watching it on a Friday the 13th, and before the word of mouth begins, though the word of mouth could be good too. The reviews i've read have been positive. It's been promoted nonstop, and everyone's talking about it. My roomate went to see it at last night's midnight screening and she said there were lots of people wearing masks and fake blood and bikinis and that everybody clapped at the end. You shouldn't underestimate the power of Jason! Big Grin
