It certainly can't help. That's like having another NBC programming at 10 pm I know that I ditch broadcast for cable at 10 pm (except for Medium). I'll take Burn Notice, Damages and even the train-wreck that is Nip/Tuck over all the tired, old crime shows and quasi 'news' magazines.
Speaking of Nip/Tuck, during the show FX has been heavily promoting FOX's Friday night lineup with a 70s theme T&A-fest, featuring Glau and Dushku. I wonder if it will lure some of the high-end crowd down for a night of slumming on FOX.

I think a bit. I noticed last year that DAMAGES in the 10pm hour with even much less than that had a clear impact on L&O SVU, about 1mm at least for awhile.
And I think the USA originals are probably more mainstream and likely to have an impact. I think any cable original that is really character centric, like some of the USA's and THE CLOSER, are likely to impact broadcast ratings. Anything where the hook is the content, like NIP/TUCK, is more likely to attract an aud that has moved away from broadcast.

Based on this, I will pass on TU.
You have a policy to only watch second rate crime shows when they air on CBS?

Either you're watching one of four things: Getting your ass to the theater to see Jason return on Friday the 13th.
Seeing T:SCC and the highly anticipated Dollhouse with Eliza Dushku.
Seeing Jeff Hardy return on Smackdown!
Or watching Gus on Tuesday the 13th on Psych.
i'm definitely going to see friday the 13th, but not tonight since i know it'll be packed and i need to see how dollhouse is.
i'll watch smackdown too since im going to no way out on sunday night here in seattle.
don't forget the always lovable Jennifer Love Hewitt and Amy Jo Johnson on Flashpoint tonight on cbs.

I felt the same way when I watched 30 Rock the ONE time, but they were able to sustain it for a full 40 minutes.

And Maya Rudolph is the perfect guest star for that show, because it relies so heavily on Rudolph's theory that unfunny lines become funny if said in a goofy voice with a goofy look on your face. And their faith in this theory is admirable considering how many times it's been proven false.

No, I stay completely away from CSI: Miami and Cold Case.
I will post the Dollhouse debut numbers on Saturday if anyone wants to see them. I'll be curious!
I'd be interested, Marc--it's been a while since FOX tried anything like this on Friday nights. I am not that interested in the shows themselves, but I am interested to see how they perform. As a kid, I used to love Friday night shows. Kinda bugs me the evening's become such a graveyard.
I'm guessing that new Cupid is more like New Coke. I'll sample it, but I'm not expecting it to be as good as the original.
Thing is, Rob Thomas gets talked up as 'The Creator' of Cupid, but it was never that simple--it was a very complicated process that led to that show, and Thomas was not necessarily the guy who made the show work--well, assuming you think it did. It sure didn't last long, but no network primetime show ever had a worse timeslot.
