That's too bad because I really wanted to check out a few other shows during the commercial breaks
The fact that FOX banished DH to Fridays and has now given it the "we don't trust you on your own 9:01 start time" speaks volumes. I can't imagine 6M are going to tune in TTSCC and that 9:31 # for DH should be telling.

They seldom provide any meaningful change, although last nite could end up being a slight exception because of the connection the shows have.
I remember last year when WAT returned to the 10pm thursday period they did one apparently to remind CSI viewers how much they used to like WAT. The crossover itself was a huge success, but the needle wasn't moved for WAT. And why would it have been, after all those years?

I agree. In this struggle for demo viewers, FOX took the night off and NBC benefitted.

You're not alone. Let's how Suburbia works after DWTS. Hopefullt it's a goos show and it'll get good numbers. If that's the case we might see a return of classical sitcoms on ABC. Although the announced pickups dosn't seem very promising
If Jim is back for syndication reasons, so will Ugly Betty. ABC will likely change the night though (I personally would try a no-repeat season on Tuesdays at 8 or 9). ABC may even ship it to Fridays.

Yes, Marc I LOVE that George Clooney is coming back, I love his character and it is a reminder of the days when I couldn't miss a single of episode of ER, instead of now even with the great angela bassett, I just can't bring myself to watch it.
Ouch for the demos of Ugly Betty -- what's goin on over there? It was even beaten by the AWFUL Kath and Kim.
And wow to Private Practice - too bad their couldn't be a crossover every week. But very impressive numbers. ABC hasn't had a lead-out do that well out of Grey's Anatomy ever. And who knows - maybe some of those extra viewers will stick around for good. Ugly Betty, on the other hand, needs to go. I'd even think about giving it a new timeslot for next season.
And PP doesn't even have to remotely approach last nite's numbers to retain the time slot.
Something as low as a steady 3.5, which it will probably end up exceeding as time goes on, should put to rest the question of what to air in this hour. Move on to some other problems, network.
I think there's a chance at least that people will realize PP is the better show of the two now and start watching PP more in general. Losing just .1 in the demo at 10pm was incredibly strong for ABC.
Originally posted by PennNova: Does anyone think the 10pm ratings may be affected by Burn Notice some. That show has been getting in the mid 5 millions and I think has a demo in the mid 2s since its return in January. That's pretty good for a cable show.
I think a bit. I noticed last year that DAMAGES in the 10pm hour with even much less than that had a clear impact on L&O SVU, about 1mm at least for awhile.
And I think the USA originals are probably more mainstream and likely to have an impact. I think any cable original that is really character centric, like some of the USA's and THE CLOSER, are likely to impact broadcast ratings. Anything where the hook is the content, like NIP/TUCK, is more likely to attract an aud that has moved away from broadcast.
