EM: HE isn't a huge loser, but is indeed a winner and a loser of some sort for losing year to year steam. The show has dropped significantly and it might be possibly affecting DH and B&S numbers a little bit. A little bit okay not alot? I do give the show credit for reaching over 10 million viewers and getting a good demo for a cheap show. EM: HE is no longer a hot show like it used to be.
Cold Case is definitely a huge winner last night for building out of Amazing Race big time. If it wasn't for CC then you probably wouldn't have The Unit performing that well after it. How can a show reaching almost 11 million viewers every week not be a winner. Plus 60 Minutes relies on the NFL overrun or it would be getting only 7-8 million viewers on its own.
Brothers & Sisters still made my list b/c its been ABC's best retention program over the last two years. Almost every other retention program after Grey's left Sundays has failed so B&S definitely deserves some accolades for getting at least over 9 million viewers against the ALCS, CC, and SNF.
Don't fight with her. She should not even have a colunm. She knows nothing about T.V.

Marc, any word on what the ratings were for TBS for the Rays/Red Sox game last night? Fox execs must be shaking their heads...it's not the absolute worst World Series scenario they could have gotten when the playoffs started (that would have been Brewers/Rays), but it's darn close (they'll have the Philly market, but there's not a lot of national interest that they would have had if the Dodgers or Red Sox, or both, had made it- The West Coast isn't going to be interested that much in an East Coast series, especially one with a team like the Rays..)
I disagree regarding the baseball numbers with the Dodgers. The Dodgers do not have a huge fan base or national following. The only reason they were a big story was the whole Manny v. the Red Sox. Without Manny, LA isn't a very interesting story. And without the Red Sox also making the series, I don't think a World Series with LA in it would have done all that great.
I have to disagree- The Dodgers are probably the most well-known baseball team on the West Coast, and even Dodgers-Rays would have worked because it would have been East Coast vs West Coast. The problem is the national games never featured Tampa or Philly- no one will care about them outside their areas. Fox's dream World Series is most likely Yankees-Cubs, with a game 7 in Wrigley Field with Steve Bartman throwing out the first pitch....
BTW- I'm thinking Rays in 5 or 6- Philly has to steal one of the first two games in Tampa or I think it's a short series, which would be even worse for Fox (it's a well-known axiom that when a network airs a 7-game series, they need it to go 5 games or more to be profitable- and of course 7 is preferable)
I agree with you guys.
Cubs would've been FOX's best hope this year and it didn't happen. If Cubs do make it to the show then FOX will not benefit with the high numbers, it will be TBS b/c they have the NLCS next year.
Cubs-Yankees would be a monster ratings series. Probably at least 30-40 million a game. If there was a Game 7 in Wrigley. I'm predicting at least 40-60 million viewers.
This Rays series with Philly will average about 8-9 million viewers, but if it reaches a Game 6 or 7 it will score about 12-18 million viewers.
People nationwide see the Rays as their darlings so this is MLB's best chance for a new dynasty.

I haven't done a column in over a week, but the BlueLick Ratings Analysis Column is back today.
Let's me start off by saying that The football overrun yesterday featuring the Jets/Raiders was so sloppy and offensive. LOL! That was a great end to the game though. This football season is turning out to be the best one of all-time as every week there seems to be a surprise. Without there being any powerhouses this year it makes for competitive games every week.
The Unit fits like a glove out of Cold Case on Sundays. Its retention is way better than it was out of NCIS and it exceeded expectations for CBS. I watched Cold Case last night after DH and I thought that was the best episode I've seen from that show. The Unit had a great episode on right behind it. I actually like both shows airing after 10pm into almost midnight.
DH is getting old, but its stabilizing also around 15 million and what's the big deal about B&S bleeding viewers, like its a big damn deal or something. Never was before so why is it now.
FOX had amazing numbers last night especially for Family Guy. The demos were ridicously high. American Dad should be a goner, can't wait for Cleveland to permanently replace it.
SNF obviously affected by a huge Game 7 on TBS for baseball that scored a cable-high for baseball with 13.4 million viewers topping the 8-9 million watching SNF on NBC. I don't see SNF getting back to dominant ratings until two weeks from now when the Pats/Colts play their annual rivalry game. Also the local markets were probably widely split in Tampa Bay. I can imagine more people in the Tampa area watching football and the rest who had access to cable watching Game 7.
Congrads! to the Rays. Although this is a disappointing WS at least the same teams aren't in there. I'm getting tired of seeing the Red Sox every damn year. The Rays are exciting to watch. FOX really should've gotten either Cubs vs Red Sox, Rays, or White Sox. The Cubs ratings in the playoffs and world series would've been the highest in years.
If the WS gets to a game 6 or 7 this year, then people will watch.
IN CELEBRATION OF TELEVISION REACHING ITS 61st SEASON HERE'S SOME HISTORIC FALL PREVIEWS & PROMOS STARTING IN 1970
Here are some Fall preview shows and promos mainly from ABC plus CBS and NBC that I will post until the end of October that are posted on YouTube, the best thing about these videos are that these were quality shows and wonderful goosebumping jingles. If you watch them please message me or write here on the forums what you thought of them:
ABC 1977-78 First Time #1 Network Fall Promo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sYf9tM_r24 "Still The One" Very important year for ABC as they won for the first time in the network's history
Last nights episode of Cold Case was good, but if you like that one you need to see the past two episodes. Last weeks was the best i have ever seen and i have watched the show forever. So if you want to see a good one, watch "Wedsday's Woman".
Walter, I heard that Wednesday's Woman was a great episode and probably the best of the series to date. Arguably Cold Case might be having their best season to date out the gate. They have two episodes that could be candidates for all-time greats for the 6-year series.
I wished I would've seen last week's episodes as I've thought CC is one of the most underrated procedurals of all-time.

Not fighting, just asking for clarification as there wasn't a reason for picking winners and losers in the column.
As for qualifications, there really aren't any needed. This is a message board. Everyone can have a column if they like. It's nice to hear different viewpoints. It gives us something to talk about. Write on Bluelick!

TAR is on the honorable mention list for keeping the Sunday night block high enough for Cold Case to carry the rest of the ship. TAR could've easily deadened the night with 6-8 million viewers, but it didn't.
Sometimes I have my hits and misses when I name the winners and losers. I might've missed on a few of those last night, but I stand by CC and UNIT being winners. We'll see next week where I put them at.
WlcmLAPD, you might definitely want to see my column for Monday in where I place the male serial dramas like T:SCC and MOWE.

Bluelick,
Maybe you should do an second winners and losers just for the quality of last nights episode that you saw.
AFV used to score in the 10 to 12 million. It's now struggling to get 8. That could easily have affected EM:HE's lead in. Yet that drop isn't mentioned. ABC in general is dropping in its viewership. I should hope that DH isn't needing EM:HE to get its viewers. It's an established show that should swim on its own.

WlcmLAPD, you might definitely want to see my column for Monday in where I place the male serial dramas like T:SCC and MOWE.
Bluelick,
Maybe you should do an second winners and losers just for the quality of last nights episode that you saw.
That would be really cool.
Cold Case would be a huge winner.
I will do a quick one right now then in my column I'll go deep into with it tomorrow for Monday's shows.
These are my winners and losers for last night's quality in episodes for scripted shows.
BlueLick's Sunday Quality Winners: Cold Case (CBS), Desperate Housewives (ABC), The Unit (CBS), Family Guy (FOX)
Honorable Mentions: The Simpsons (FOX), King of the Hill (FOX), Brothers & Sisters (ABC)
BlueLick's Sunday Non-Quality Losers: The CW Lineup (CW), American Dad (FOX)
I want to thank Walter for this great idea that I'm going to make regularly in my columns starting tomorrow. These lists will include non-scripted stuff on occasions. I watch most of the programs on DVR overnight or in the morning.
