I don't like PP against Fringe and the Mentalist but I'd say the argument could be made that all three would pull seperate audiences. The Biggest Loser would probably take a hit in that situation.

No the best show on network TV is Criminal Minds. Damn that show is full of suspense and edge of your seat entertainment. It is an awesome show. The Mentalist and DH is top shows to very entertaining
Finally something we're agrying on
He he. Hey did you watch it last week with Luke perry as guest star. What an awesome episode. Very suspenseful. Also this weks episode looks like a true classic.
I don't think DH will be ABC's main concern. It's doing better than Grey's Anatomy. B&S no doubt lost some viewers to Mad Men.
Possibly, although Mad Men doesn't attract much more than a million viewers at 10pm, and they can't all be B&S fans--frankly, I don't think the two shows have that much in common.
As an aside, much as I admire Mad Men's attention to detail (there is no better-produced show on the air), it's all very draggy of late. They are spending way too much time on Don and Betty's marital meltdown, and not enough to what the show is supposed to be about.
Never makes me laugh, never makes me care. But damn, Elisabeth Moss is HOT.
They need to decide now which shows are actually worth saving. PD isn't.
Never was.

DSM probably isn't but can at least hold a decent chunk of lead in so it could likely last the fall.
If they have to keep one of their failing shows on the air, this is the one. But it's still failing.

Eli Stone is another show I like, but I'm not sold its going to hold up.
It's already a loser, so what's to hold up? It will go down, absolutely. With the lead-in it has, and the competition it's up against, it should have opened MUCH stronger.

Life on Mars fell heavily in week two and is probably going down the same path as other post-Greys shows.

It does and its nobody's fault but ABC's. Its not like Fox or CBS or NBC have had stellar falls by any means. Hell, CBS is leading this pack with a whopping 3.0. What a victory!

I think in the last couple of seasons the only episode i didn't like was the premiere of this season. It seemed like a bad Bruce Willis movie.
But other than that CM is by far the best procedural show on network TV (and just behind The Closer on all-TV).
PS: CM also did another thing: it proved me wrong regarding three actors i've always found terrible: Luke Perry, James VandDerBeek and Frankie Muniz. All three were fantastic as guest stars

I didn't like the Frankie Miniz episode. It was like a bad imitation of sin city. But the Van derbeek episode was awesome aswell. The previews for this weeks episode looks like its going to be a ride
I don't believe in curses and to think that one actor will always have failed shows is illogical. Firefly was never going to work. Drive was a disaster that shouldn't have been made. He was on DH and it didn't get cancelled.
Castle has the highest pilot scores of all of ABC's mid-season options. It is the one the critics like the most. Plus, having a mystery angle it would appeal to this season of DH which is surrounded by mysteries. Both are female leaning shows. It's the best match. Why not give it the best start it can when ABC is in desperate need of a hit?
One things for certain, keep B&S there and the numbers will keep sliding. That doesn't make sense at all.

It's sliding because ABC brought back shows that should have never been brought back. PD, DSM, and ES are all disasters. They never had an audience that was going to keep them competitive. All three need to go by December. ABC will probably hang on to one of the three but it will be the weakest link in its schedule and they shouldn't expect anything from it.
Wednesdays should be Lost, PP, and a new drama. If one isn't available, stick in Border Security, the new docu reality show they ordered.
Cupid goes to Monday. Castle goes to Sunday. After DWTS results is B&S. Tuesdays at 8 is a mix of comedies. LOM has to stay Thursdays at 10 unless it slides to the point that it is way down in the ratings.

One thing is for certain: ABC should not mess with the most solid night of programming they have right now.
I agree and disagree. Sunday night is the only night that's really working for ABC right now. Monday is loosing BL, Tuesday has problems at 8 and 10, Wednesday is a disaster, Thursday is stuggling at 8 and 10, and they've just given up on Friday. It would be incredibly stupid to move B&S (which will surely fail without its lead-in) just to try to save one of ABCs many failing shows or to launch a show that doesn't really have a chance.
On the other hand, if ABC wants to launch a new show with a good lead-in, they don't have a lot of choices. If they end up with the choice of trying to launch their best hope on Wednesday after Private Practice or moving B&S to launch it after DH, I could see them moving B&S.
I don't believe in curses and to think that one actor will always have failed shows is illogical.
So is continuing to hire him when all his shows have failed.

He was a minor character in the fourth season--doesn't count.

The single biggest mystery being "Why is anyone still watching?"

How is Castle geared to women? I know they keep promoting Fillion as a hunk, but he clearly leaves most women cold.

Btw, don't you think some of the failed shows you mention tested well, and got good advance reviews? Don't you think they must have had some positive indicators for the network to go ahead and greenlight them? The indicators don't always work, which is why you need network suits with good instincts--and ABC clearly has none right now. Or they'd have avoided any show with Fillion as the lead.
I don't really believe in curses either--I do believe that the Firefly actors all lack what it takes to be stars. Fillion most of all. He repels most people, even while attracting a small minority.
