-Ratings Breakdown: Led by the debut of Celebrity Family Feud and another two-hour edition of America’s Got Talent, NBC was the most-watched network on Tuesday. But the stellar launch of Wipeout ignited ABC to first among adults 18-49. Take a look at the premieres of Wipeout versus Celebrity Family Feud from 8-9 p.m.
Celebrity Family Feud (NBC) Viewers: 8.77 million (#2), A18-49: 2.3/ 7 (#2)
While kudos go to NBC, ABC is really off and running in the Tuesday 8 p.m. hour this summer. And I am willing to predict that the ratings will build as the weeks progress.
Also airing from 8-9 p.m. was a repeat of CBS’ NICS (Viewers: #3, 7.64 million; A18-49: #4, 1.2/ 4), a repeat of Hell’s Kitchen on Fox (Viewers: #4, 3.26 million; A18-49: #3, 1.4/ 4), and a repeat of Beauty and the Geek on the CW (Viewers: #5, 1.20 million; A18-49: #5, 0.5/ 2).
The debut of ABC’s I Survived a Japanese Game Show was second in both total viewers (8.03) and adults 18-49 (3.1/ 9) at 9 p.m. Had it not been for the stellar lead-in support from Wipeout, I Survived a Japanese Game Show would look more promising, but a loss of 1.45 million viewers (8.76 million) and 15 percent among adults 18-49 (3.3/10 to 2.8/ 8) at 9:30 p.m. could be concerning.
The first-half of another two-hour edition of America’s Got Talent on NBC won the 9 p.m. hour in total viewers, but Hell’s Kitchen on Fox (Viewers: #2, 7.70 million; A18-49: #1, 3.3/10) was first among adults 18-49. Overall, America’s Got Talent averaged 11.51 million viewers and a 3.1/ 9 among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m. Take a look at the half-hour breakdown:
Also airing from 9-10 p.m. was a Tuesday edition of CBS’ 48 Hours Mystery (Viewers: #4, 7.46 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 5), and a repeat of Reaper on the CW (Viewers: #5, 1.67 million; A18-49: #5, 0.6/ 2).
Trailing America’s Got Talent at 10 p.m. was a repeat of CBS’ recently relocated Without a Trace (Viewers: #2, 6.71 million; A18-49: #3, 1.3/ 4), and the return of ABC’s Primetime: The Outsiders (Viewers: #3, 6.64 million; A18-49: #2, 2.5/ 7). All in all, not a bad night for the summer.
“Wipeout,” in which regular people compete in a giant obstacle course that frequently ends with them plunging into the mud, rose 28 percent from its first half hour to its second, from a 3.2 to a 4.1 rating.
It marked the best premiere for a new summer show this season, and it was ABC's best premiere for a summer show since 2005's "Brat Camp." It was also the network's top summer series in the Tuesday 8 p.m. slot since 2001.
I'm shocked at those numbers for Wipeout and Japanese GS. I've just tried to watch those shows and both are awful. Japanese Game Show is plain stupid. I'm really shocked
WIPEOUT was a blast to watch. A great show to watch during the summer.
Family Fued was nothing special though. With the exception of the Larry the Cable Guy vs Bill Engvall, the rating should slide down as the weeks progress.
Awful??? They were both fun to watch. Wipeout is the better show though.
I think you are in the minority on your opinion of Wipeout.

I have been saying Wipeout would be a hit for at least six months now -- good to see it pan out, and great to see the half-hour build up. If it keeps it up, it would be a solid mid-season replacement for Winter 2009...

I took your advice and watched wipeout and i'm amazed you found that show so entertaining. I found even the last event to be boring, And what about the first event? What's that? 15 minutes of nothing, cause that's what they've showed: nothing

I still have to watch Wipeout on DVR, but I will most likely watch it again next week. I also know I will watch Family Feud.
My thoughts on Family Feud: *It was good, and it was moving very quickly! I like the pace of the show. Plus there are actual celebrities on the show, unlike the D-list stars on Dancing With The Stars.
VOTE IN THE PIF NETWORK GAME: http://pifeedback.com/eve/foru...93910104/m/854104282 TONIGHT: ---> NEW <--- EPISODES OF GREATEST DAY, AND MEGA DODGEBALL. PLUS BACK FOR GOOD, GETTING SOME, THE ONLINE LIFE, AND YOU'VE GOT THE WRONG MAN! ALSO, ROSIE'S ROUNDTABLE (WITH BETTY WHITE!) AND GIRALDO LIVE!
Knowing ABC, they'll have it on 3 nights a week by February 2009.

Definitely surprised at the high numbers for both Wipeout and CFF.
Wipeout: I think the show is OK in spurts, but it risks becoming repetitive and boring after a few episodes. I'm very curious to see what happens next week ratings-wise.
CFF: Disappointed with the show overall, particularly the overabundance of sex-related topics, and the fractured main game format (should be single-double-triple, not single-single-triple). Roker has promise as a host, but this seems to be a show that I'd only watch depending on who the celebs are.
Was it just me, or did the show act as if the current daytime version of FF doesn't exist?
I could see CFF take a big dip in the ratings next week. Ratings race will be interesting, particularly with fading Moment of Truth back at 8p for Fox.
