quote: week three of CBS’ Cane at 9.10 million viewers and a 2.4/ 7 in the demo. Comparably, Cane was on par with its second telecast one week earlier, so this could be a positive sign. Be patient, CBS,
Leveling off is something SMITH or 3lbs didn't do, they were continuing the downward when they were axed. I'm sure I will be proven wrong, but I have a feeling that this may be a record year for the LACK of cancelations by the nets

But House's demo number is 115 per cent higher . And let's not forget about the DVR recordings. I wouldn't be surprised to see House grow as much as 2 million viewers once DVR numbers get factored in. 20 million viewers Live+7 could be realistic.

Will be interesting to see how much of a drop BL has. DWtS did run over to 10:02pm, per my DVR/Cable online menu.
Same as last week. It will be about 10 in viewers and 2.6-2.7 in demo. Keeping in line with last season, and staying the same this season. The show is, for lack of a better word, steady!

I think the lead-in growth can be explained by people turning it on to get ready to watch Dancing with the Stars. quote: Originally posted by Zedman2: quote: Without the benefit of any lead-in support, week two of ABC’s Carpoolers also lost steam with 7.36 million viewers (#3) and a 2.8/ 8 among adults 18-49 (#3) at 8:30 p.m. Comparably, that was down by 1.70 million viewers and 20 percent from its week-ago premiere (Viewers: 9.06 million; A18-49: 3.5/ 9 on Oct. 2).
I think ABC has to be happy with Carpoolers and it just might get a reprieve. It gained in viewers and demo from its leadin. The week to week drop is high but considering all the hoopla surrounding Caveman last week, it may be acceptable for this week. I think the show is improving. It's been awhile since ABC has had a sitcom grow from its leadin.

Yeah, but more than doubling the demo number makes House much more desirable than NCIS...

Yeah, but it's doing about as well as the timeslot's previous occupant--with a much weaker lead-in. And a lot better than the timeslot's previous occupant was doing later in the season, not that there's any reason to assume Reaper won't drop over the next few months as well. They'll probably have to leave it on for a full season. But yeah, for such a heavily hyped effort to get these ratings--disastrous. But EVERY day is a disaster for the CW.

And steady is huge right now, considering most shows are down form last fall.

If GG got a full season order, it will get one too. I agree on the disaster part. None of the new shows can pull in 3 million viewers. That is terrible. quote: Originally posted by pisher: quote: Reaper turns out to be another disaster for CW

I think you were right, though, with what you said before. This might be a record season in the LACK of axed shows. I think all networks will be keeping even the most challenged of ratings shows on the air for a longer period, and perhaps even, all season.

I fully expect Reaper to get a pickup within the next couple of weeks, if only because Gossip Girl did-As to the BATG ratings, maybe the show has just run it's course.
Cane is probably gone before November Sweeps I think-but all the decisions are gonna be tempered because of the looming writer's strike...

Some of it yes, but I don't think they had that much growth last spring with comdies leading into the results show.

Thoughts: Buh bye Cavemen. It looks like Carpoolers may have Jim for a lead in by mid-November. Boston Legal's stability is very good. ABC has to be proud of this high-income skewing program. NBC's Biggest Loser should just move to 8pm and drop the 9pm hour for Law and Order:CI repeats or maybe an hour of 1 vs. 100, which could be good counter programming. Cane is very older skewing which is never good in CBS land, but it is stable and seeing how poorly CBS's fall has gone, it may stick around for a bit longer, but CBS could also give it the quick slip. The CW's Reaper was classic last night. The storyline was much better than week two. Here's to it going back to growing out of lead in B&tG, which deserves kudos for growing week to week by a solid margin. I think as people tire of the NBC block and ABC's wretched comedies it may grow into the mid-3 million viewer level. That would probably warrant a new season.

I believe GLo grew by quite a bit for the four weeks or so it aired between 8 and 8:30, and that was with the zilch in promotion ABC spent on it. quote: Originally posted by Zedman2: quote: Originally posted by WelcomeToK-Ville: I think the lead-in growth can be explained by people turning it on to get ready to watch Dancing with the Stars. quote: Originally posted by Zedman2: quote: Without the benefit of any lead-in support, week two of ABC’s Carpoolers also lost steam with 7.36 million viewers (#3) and a 2.8/ 8 among adults 18-49 (#3) at 8:30 p.m. Comparably, that was down by 1.70 million viewers and 20 percent from its week-ago premiere (Viewers: 9.06 million; A18-49: 3.5/ 9 on Oct. 2).

Guess I am in the minority but I'd expect to see Cane get a pickup based on these numbers. DVR will give it at least a 10% boost and knock it over the 10M mark. Still think that in 2007 10M plus for a Drama and 8M plus for a comedy are the marks.. assuming the demo #s aren't atrocious.
