Caught a promo last night when I was watching the Last Comic Standing and The Singing Bee is going to premiere on July 12, I guess NBC do not want Fox (The lyric game?) to have an edge... (Who would have thought 5th grader is a bonafide hit)

Actually, according to Zap 2 it, it's on July 10th, a day before the Fox show airs.
They speculated that the last time this happened (when Fox rushed on The Next Great Champ vs. The Contender on NBC), they thought it hurt the ratings for The Contender when that eventually aired (after delaying it thinking people would have forgotten about the other show that was sent to cable before completing it's run.)

"Copying" has been going on for half a century now. FOX is no different than any other net.
* Remember Airwolf? A Copy of Blue Thunder * Of course there is the Addams Family vs The Munsters. * ER and Chicago Hope. * Wasn't Matt Houston ABC's version of Magnum PI? * Dallas (CBS), then Dynasty(ABC) * How many shows have tried to copy Suvivor's blueprint? * How about every game show since Millionaire now uses the "Dramatic Lighting".
TV/Hollywood is nothing but "Copying"

But at least NBC can now air this series in July and let it die during the summer instead of using it to replace 1 vs. 100.
