Scheduling seems to have been ABC's problem the last past few years, either short term or long term. Airing new episodes on low hut nights during the season, i.e. Halloween, Thanksgiving eve, Thanksgiving Day, etc. With all the holiday programming they have available, movies and specials, you would think they would schduling more wisely. Launching mid-season programs in December, once DWTS completed it's run, the past two years is another example of poor scheduling and not using the Rose Bowl as a lead-in to launch any new program as well.
The opportunity to use DH and GA to launch new hit shows may have come and gone. B & S should have moved this season and not still be airing on Sundays. ABC has a tendency to order more replacement programming than the other networks, so they seem to be aware that the shows they renew are borderline. However, there is no excuse for the poor comedy development they have had the past few years, expecially if you cancel good utility players like George Lopez or Freddie without a replacement program.
The Results Show for DWTS should be airing at 8pm. They would have a more available audience for the 9pm show which should have been a comedy as it would have counter programmed the time period nicely. But as it stands now, The audience for the Results show is being squeezed by Fringe and The Mentalist making the ABC audience older.
Airing LOST at 10 pm for the past few years, I believe, has also been a mistake. The show should be airing at 8pm leading into a new show or a show that needs patience such as PP especially if PP remains on Wednesday's and goes up against AI come mid-season.
These are just a few points of contention I have and yes Mr. MacPherson is in charge of the network, but I believe, Mr. Bader VP of night to night scheduling, hasn't done such a great job either.
