I've been thinking about this for a while, and if I worked for ABC I'd make this proposal. Over the previous seasons of ABC's huge hit, there were couples who performed very well, had a following, but failed to win the dancing trophy. I think it would be huge, and push DWTS to the statosphere of 30 million viewers now only regularly occupied by American Idol, if they brought back these couples in the Fall to compete again each other. No Master Ps or Tucker Carlsons or Wayne Newton here. Every ones of these couples is good, has great chemistry together, and is guaranteed to bring a loyal following. What's great is that each dancer who didn't win their season (for the most part) only has one celebrity that "defined" them , so it really works out really well when you think about it.

So, without further ado, my dream couple dancing all-stars for next Fall:

From season 5:
1. Sabrina Bryan and Mark Ballas (a crime she got kicked out that early)
2. Cameron Mathison and Edyta Sliwinska (4h place)
3. Jennie Garth and Derek Hough (3rd place)

From season 4:
4. Laila Ali and Maksim Chmerkovskiy (3rd place in season)
5. Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson (2nd place in season)

From season 3:
6. Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff (2nd place and absolutely the biggest injustice in the series not to win it)
7. Vivica A. Fox and Nick Kosovich (I believe 5th place)

From season 2:
8. Lisa Rinna and Louis van Amstel (my all-time favorite couple, 4th place)
9. Stacy Keibler and Tony Dovolani (Stacy was probably the best techical female, 3rd place)
10. Jerry Rice and Anna Trebunskaya (Jerry was a little overrated, but definitely had a following and was Anna's best partner)

From season 1:
11. Joey McIntyre and Ashly DelGrosso (only decent partner Ashly had, got 3rd place)
12. John O'Hurley and Charlotte Jorgensen (2nd place and "controversy" over not winning over Kelly Monaco)

That's exactly the right number, but since they should probably have contestants from this upcoming Spring season, they could bump it up to 14 -- depending on the quality of this season's matchups.

This to me would be a dream season will all great, competent contestants. Of course, since they've all done it before at this point, they would make the dances either more complex or longer or both.

The only contestants left out (non winners) are other good partners of Maksim (Laila over Mel B was a toss up), Edyta (joey Lawrence) and Louis (Monique Coleman), but since the partners can only dance we one "star", I chose who I thought was a better match. These folks, plus the coupling of Ian Ziering and Cheryl Burke, and any new matchups, could be held for a 2nd "all-star" edition in another 5-6 cycles.

I actually really like this idea too. I would love to see Joey McIntrye and Ashly go at it again along with a few of the others. However this would be extremely hard to do now because alot these stars careers have taken off since DWTS and there schedules might not have enough time to commit to the show.

BTW has anyone read the rumor that Paula Abdul wants to be on DWTS. That would be interesting to see if she still got some dance moves left.

I just heard Prisila Preasley (sp?) might also be on next season. Other rumored ladies are Cheryl Ladd and Monica Seles.

Thanks silver. I know it would be difficult to pull off, that's why if they do it they need to plan for it now so that those people can have clear schedules by September. I realize they may not be able to get everyone on that list, but even getting most of them would be worth watching.

what about including some of the winners as well? I'd love to see Kelly Monaco again.

I would love to see all the winners again at some point, but not intermixed with the others I mentioned -- it wouldn't be fair. But I could see a DWTS -- Battle of the Season Winners after 10 or so seasons, with each season's winner facing each other for a "champion of champions" type trophy. But for starters, they can do the above lineup as early as this Fall...

Oh, you're not the only one lopez -- I tried to watch American Idol last night and could not stomach more than 5 minutes of their cruel mocking of the contestants. Give me Dancing with the stars anyday over this opportunistic dribble.

Can't wait till March 17!

To squeeze out another week of DWTS ratings, ABC should have DWTS special on March 10 revealing the contestants, and having the judges preview the season, along with some professional dances and the usual singer spotlight. Basically like 1 of their Tuesday results shows, but use it to hype up the season and spotlight the contestants. It would mean much more to ABC to have the contestant reveal this way than on their morning show or in a press release...
