I agree -- Zedman, do you know if Celebrity Impersonator is returning? It did surprisingly well last summer (especially in the demo), and it's gotta be extremely cheap to produce...

It didn't do that well. 7 million viewers max and a 2.5 demo max. Sure it looked good compared to recent summer shows like the One or Master of Champions but an hour of TV with Marc Berman would get higher results than those shows.

You don't think 7 mil and a 2.5 in the demo in the summer are good numbers?? More than half of ABC's shows can't do that now...

That was the peak. Most of the episodes were below that with several failing to pull a 2.0 demo.

I just did a search -- Celebrity Impersonator was in the top 20 in viewers and top 12 in the demo in its premiere, only behind FOX's SYTYCDance among summer reality shows at that time -- the following week, it actually built on those numbers. After that, the weakness of the rest of the lineup, which was a weaker American Inventor and failed drama Traveler caused it to dip somewhat, but then it regained strength towards the end and I think its season finale scored over a 3.0 in the demo. I do think that show deserves to return...

Way to blame the lineup when I remember people on this forum saying the show was very inconsistent. As for the season finale scoring a 3.0, I kind of doubt that but if you could provide some evidence that would be fine.

I took this off our own website. It was the final number for the finale of Celebrity Impersonator. They aren't what I would call good.

The Next Best Thing
- 7.086 million viewers
- 4.6/9 HH
- 2.0/7 A18-49

That's still better than half the shows ABC has right now -- and I'm not using 'half' in the general sense--take a look below:

Note that the success of any of these series will depend on what the rival networks will broadcast during said time. These are just early predictions that will likely change...

BACHELORETTE -- Not sure if American can digest two hours of this dreck every Monday. Curious to see how this show will do without depending on the DWTS lead-in every week. Should do enough to warrant a renewal.

THE MOLE -- the host doesn't spark interest in me, and I fear the show will be dumbed down and homogenized from its Cooper days. At least its a step above the Rashad version. Thumbs in the middle.

WIPE OUT -- This is the kind of show that could get boring and repetitive as the weeks go by. Could develop a cult following, but I can't see anything more.

JAPANESE GAME SHOW -- I can see a ratings spike for the first episode, given the online and TV blooper show curiosity of Japanese game shows. But, like Wipe Out, this feels very limited in terms of audience. Also, this could be running opposite America's Got Talent and So You Think...

DANCE MACHINE -- the time slot kills it.

HSM -- definite hit. Why did ABC wait until now to capitalize on the HSM phenomena?

WANNA BET -- IIRC, ABC contemplated premiering this show back in January or so. Forms of this show have been done, and I can't see this being a hit, despite Phil Gurin's involvement.

If you take out the repeats, it's not more than 1/2 as far as the demo is concerned.

OK, replace a repeat of AtJ with a new AtJ or new Carpoolers. Replace a repeat of JFL with a new JFL. Replace the Saturday repeats with just about anything they have put on Saturdays -- ditto for Fridays. Those timeslots needs to be filled, so yes, it is more than half of the existing lineup...

I was just on ABC's website, and the first summer show to create a site for, was HSM. What a suprise! It's right Here.

Jdinan,
I saw you said why would ABC wait until now for the show (HSM). I think it is because it gives promotion to the movie coming out in theaters in October.

POST 600!

I expect ABC to be in fourth place this summer unless CBS's shows repeat overly poorly (and that's very likely in the demo since the eps have been seen a billion times already).
