You make a good point x, however, most times just by reading a description of a show and looking at its time period one could tell if it will be a success. Also, most shows that bomb out are ones that even the 1st episode is not watched. Which means that people are either watching or not watching based on the description of a show, or by the buzz generted by a show before its premiere.
True, there are some shows that get decent premiere numbers and then fade away (Studio 60 as an example) but most new shows don't get decent number of viewers even for the 1st episode.

We're just making wild guesses, based on the timeslot as we now know it, the competition we know or think we know, and the buzz. Other than the split on WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB, our votes pretty much reflect that. I voted in the majority except for CAVEMAN and CARPOOLERS, which I think will finish the season but not return.
I actually feel very good about these ABC shows, much more than I did last year. Only Carpoolers and Cavemen look like real flops. Womens Murder Club will have an uphill battle on Friday but Men in Trees is a good lead in.
According to pifeedback 6/8- 75% of ABC's new Fall shows will return for a second season. I just don't see that many new shows getting renewed unless their established shows flop.

I also feel better. To me The Nine, Six Degrees and Day Break all sounded like flops and I was attacked for claiming that viewers would not be interested in them. I think ABC will do better in the ratings but that also means their standards for which shows get renewed will be higher.

I'm pedicting all the comedies to flop. Dirty Sexy Money, I see doing strong in the early episodes, and quickly getting a full season order, but will fizzle and be cancelled by the end of the season.
Women's Murder Club and Big Shots will be gone before the midseason break, IMO.
Private Practice and Pushing Daisies show some nice potential and I see them being renewed for a 2nd season.
Wow - that is a lot of detail - I assume you have seen all of these pilots.

I really hope Pushing Daisies makes it to a second season. Bryan Fuller has had some bad luck, with Heroes being the exception. Good thing it's on ABC this time and not FOX.
In my opinion Pushing Daisies is going to be the big flop of the season. It sounds really bad and too many people are declaring it the best thing since sliced bread.
I think all the comedies are going to fail, they all sound pretty bad.
Women's Murder Club will be the first one canceled. Why does everyone think Men In Trees is such a great lead in. The show didn't do great on Friday last season and is going to do even worse this season. It did okay on Thursday but only because of GA as a lead in. The show can't stand on its own.
Private Practice is one that I'm on the fence about. The reviews are mixed from fans of GA and that is who will watch. They will give it a chance and if they fix the problem it will do well if not it will finish the season but not be renewed. ABC will be sure to give this show every chance to succeed.
The two I think that have the most potential are Dirty Sexy Money and Big Shots. In my opinion I think Big Shots has a better chance at success. It really does seem like DH with men. I've also read that the buyers think GA's audience will stick around for BS. Someone said they think DSM will start strong, get the early renewal then fade. I think that's a good possibility but it may do well.
I agree. It looks good. I also think that any of ABC's new comedies, including midseason drama Eli Stone have potential. Of the bunch, Women's Murder Club and Pushing Daisies is most likely to fail, but even they have a decent shot. Cavemen, Carpoolers, and Miss/Guided all look like losers. If Notes from the Underbelly is indeed paired with Sam I Am, ABC should have two solid comedies come out of next year. That would be a good start.

Given the track record of the single-camera comedies on ABC, I wouldn't say "for sure". But I think this one has the more potential than any of the others ever had. Women's Murder Club is an awful title, and being on Friday will not help. I don't agree on Notes From the Underbelly, I think viewers have already rejected it (hey, I could be wrong here, only time will tell). I don't know if Pushing Daisies can be a self-starter on Wednesdays, but Ugly Betty didn't have a problem last year self-starting in a tougher timeslot. And like pretty much everyone else, I think Cavemen and Carpoolers will be bombs. Perhaps their slogan will be: "15 minutes of this show is 15 minutes you will never get back".
