I'm hoping the final eps of this are relegated to summer Saturday duty next year or how about some originals for all those syndicated outlets the show has?

ABC has been rumored for a while that they were placing comedies on Fridays in some form of a TGIF like schedule. So this sounds like something ABC would consider. However, they really should just leave ATJ behind and not include it in its Friday block. Wife Swap and Supernanny has a large chance of being very competitive on Friday nights. Bringing in ATJ mid-season will just kill any momentum the reality block created and would drag down their Friday numbers.

Which is exactly why its likely going to happen. ABC has made absolutely not sense when it comes to keeping momentum going at midseason the past few years. Its clear they are not anywhere near ahead of the game like the other networks are in at least attempting to appear to be. I do think ABC will finish in second yet next year but it won't be by much and I'm not sold on these cheap reality ideas they pitched. If anything, reality should be off the lineup save for Dancing and the Wife Swap/Supernanny combo (and even that is somewhat questionable). People are sick of it. Give the stuff a break already. It will be interesting to see how ABC incorporates their new shows too this midseason. I don't see any time periods where comedies have a real shot at surviving. The dramas will likely fill in for failures in various timeslots (perhaps Eli Stone, Dirty Sexy Money, or Pushing Daisies although I think two of these three will survive thanks to the relaunching of them in the fall).

I believe it's just filling in a scheduling gap between the start of the NBA championships and the end of the tv season. You'll notice Samantha Who? is being scheduled to fill in gaps as well. Once the NBA is over, the summer programming begins.

It might just be wishful thinking, but I could have sworn that ATJ was canceled a year or two ago. At least I don't remember seeing it on a schedule or in a promotion. Was ABC hiding it behind a rock or something? Where the heck did it come from?

I think it was rumored to be cancelled back in 2007 but then in the summer was renewed. I wish they would just get rid of it once and for all but I think they like the money it makes in syndication and the more episodes equals more profit.
